This is very timely because I'm running a public one-shot in October that has a goblin clan camping out in an abandoned tomb! I was needing to build tents!!
Nice (not sure if it will be of any use - but late this month/early next, I'm also hoping to get a small mausoleum done :) )
Very cool again, I really hope to have time to test and use it one day ! 😀
An Adventurers' campsite! Woot! 🥳
I'm assigning the larger tent to the Wizard. He needs more space. 🧙♂
Fan-freaking-tastic! 🍻
Wizards do need more headspace (it's because of the pointy hats :) ).
@@CrookedStaffTerrain ROFLMAO
Thanks for the video! I was a little tense before watching this but now I know how to make them! 😉
(Someone was going to make this joke but I was first!)
@@MarkCMG I expect there will be a few 😅
You do such an amazing job crafting with paper :D
Thanks :)
The only thing I can think of is you might want to have some drying or tanning wracks. I'm thinking drying fish or animal skins being cured. Possibly a texture for a yurt or similar nomadic tribal dwelling. However these tents mean I bring roadside encounters or small camp encounters to the table, thank you.
No problem!
More cool stuff like always
These are perfect, can't have too many tents!
Another winning video!
These are great!
Congratulations on 16k subs very well deserved! Road to 20k woo!
Thanks :) (fingers crossed for 17k by the end of the year :) ).
Amazing! Finally, so easy to make and good-looking terrain. Thank you so much!
No probs :)
OK. I'll be "that guy"...
Wow, that was INTENSE... (in tents?)
.... I'll go back to my hole.
I can't express how much I love this.
another excellent post. One thing I specially like is that you reference which other episodes the extras (crates, animal skin, campfire) come from.
Yeah... there are a ton of episodes now - so I need to be more mindful of that kind of thing 😅
These will fit in very nicely with a few of the encounters I'm sketching out for my players. A rack to stretch out pelts or string meats from might be a nice addition.
Dude. I literally needed these for my next campaign. I'll be changing the design a little bit because I want market tents, but the structure is exactly what I needed
Hope it goes well!
Great looking pieces!
:) thanks!
Those tents look great. Have you ever gone through the entire design process before deciding that a project "just isnt right"? I'm curious if you had a box of failed/scrapped builds.
Not really. I'll usually make prototypes first (just with plain paper, card, or whatever) and see if I can get the shape I want. And very occasionally they don't work out - so I don't take it any further (or I'll come back to it at a later date if I think I've solved the problem).
However, I do have a little draw of unfinished stuff (i.e. prototypes that have mostly worked, but I haven't done any textures for them yet - but that's another story 😅 ).
Your tutorials are great! Do you have a video how to create a campfire? I can't find it. If you don't have it, can you please consider doing it? Thanks!
The one you can see at the end of this video was made from the 'flames' and 'wood' from episode 72:

What printer do you recommend to make this terrain? Also, do you use a high-quality paper, so that it can hold up to all of that crumpling? Thank you so much for your videos! This has changed the way I have decided to make terrain.
I just use a cheap inkjet printer... I talk a bit more about it here (and how I refill the cartridges to keep the costs down):
czcams.com/video/08JjYpUtifE/video.htmlsi=0undz8HWrSt3Cglw&t=144
Personally, I prefer inkjets over laser printers - because the ink from an inkjet will sort of soak into the paper - whereas that of a laser printer kinda sits on the surface (so, when you 'crumple' a laser printout - it can crack... revealing the paper beneath).
And, as far as paper goes - for things like these tents I'm also using cheap office paper (as that seems to make the crumpling easier TBH). I only use thicker/better quality paper for the dungeon tiles/walls (and that's really only because the thicker paper helps to prevent the corrugation 'lines' of the cardboard showing through).
Hope that helps!
@@CrookedStaffTerrain Thanks! That really helps!
Just out of curiousity, this "pay what you want" setup, how does this work out for you?
What kind of thing are you interested in? (I don't mind 'talking shop' - but I don't want to bombard you with too much information if you're only asking about a particular aspect of it :) ).
What kind of card stock do you use
The 1mm thick stuff is sometimes called chipboard (in the US I think), and/or greyboard (here in the UK). It's a similar kind of thing that you can sometimes find on the back of a notepad.
AWESOME!!!
