  • Taking a look at be Fenix HT30R laser flashlight. I have never seen a laser flashlight before, so this is a first for me. My biggest question though, is it practical? What would you use it for?

I have a TK30 a little smaller version with almost the same power as the HT 30. One night i decided to take a walk down to 7-11 to pick up some things and while walking back two gang guys were stalking me . I quickly crossed the road and they led pursuit behind me so I pulled out the TK30 and hit them in the eyes . They turned their heads covered their eyes and I was gone! Things may have turned out very bad for me if I didn’t have it. I’m no sure about the HT30 but the TK30 can use pistol or rifle mounts with a pressure switch. Many tactical applications.
Also great for search and rescue operations. No other led light can put such light on a small area for observation.
I don’t leave home at night now without it.

Going to arder one soon. As a hydrovac operator I am constantly trying to see in the holes we make in the ground. So far I have tried 3 different fenix lights trying to find a tight beam pattern for my required application. I still use them and love all my fenix products. But I know there could be a better suited light for what I do. Daylighting pipelines, gas lines, communications and thousands of volt power lines has its risks. I feel this light may just be the perfect tool for the job. It would seem to me it will be very successful and add a level of comfort and security to ensure I can go home safely at the end of the day. Thank you for the review and your perspective. Much appreciated.

If you are hunting rabbits with dogs will it blind the dogs eyes?

Practical for search and rescue. Might be able to stop an animal attack. The problem is we need adjustable focus. There's only a few which do this. Zbolt uses extra lens with diffuser around edge, so there are options. You could possibly 3d print something for any LEP, which could act as a ring type diffuser using some transparent plastic.

I deliver packages to businesses in the wee small hours of the morning when most places aren't open yet. And the employees want to ignore the knocking assuming I'm a customer. I've found a flashlight to be helpful at getting the attention of employees. Especially, when they are far away and cannot hear me knocking on the glass. Lights with high candela rating are effective at this. I've used lights with high lumens, but too much spill and it did not effectively get the attention of employees. I had a modlite hog that put out some serious 170k candela. The high candela was able to defeat photonic barriers like glass and the distance very well. Sometimes I had to get the attention of employees in broad daylight and they were a good 30 yards away. So this light has 3.5x the candela should do it with no problem even in broad daylight.

Yeah, a thrower in my opinion must have some spill or wash around the hotspot… the more the better. I’d rather have less throw (distance) but more spill. Regardless, it’s a Fenix so it’s great quality and I’m sure someone can use that exact light. Fantastic honest review. 👍

a thrower with little spill does not pinpoint your location.

I would like to check one out but I really don't know if it would be worth it. I've liked Fenix so Im sure it works fine just not sure about practically and I doubt they would let me try one

i have FENIX HT30 Lep and TK30 Lep.
the light throwing cone of the HT30Lep is sharper and narrower than the TK30 LEP 369.000 CD.
For this reason HT30 Lep reaches 1.5 km and has 600,000 CD, more concentrated in depth.

Only good for blinding people that don't turn off their high beams

Aim your LED light 1000 meters, what do you see? Nothing LEP is designed for throw, 1000 meters or more.

lol. You’re not going to see anything at 3000’ with a laser but without a scope too. They’re equal at the distance you can see with the naked eye. And much better price point.

Pretty tight beam . If it was an adjustable beam… Happy New Years to you and your family Chris
