  • Cleaning is the most important and yet underrated part of keeping your coffee taste exceptional!
    When people purchase their machine, no one really tells them that they need to clean the machine as well. It's just "Thanks for buying, see ya!"
    But if you've ever tasted a "muddy" coffee it's most likely due to not being clean. In this video I take you through the easy basic routines to keep your coffee tasting super fresh. I look at what needs to be done after every shot, every day, every week and every month. If you can fit this into your routine it won't be hard and your coffee will taste so much better.

    Good tips, I use a puck screen to help keep the shower head clean. Also noticed if you get a few tiny grinds in the bottom of your latte, run a back flush and it seems to clean it up. Use a cleaning tablet on occasion for your puck screen, I always clean with a tiny bit of dish soap and it looks super ckean but the tablet will still get all the oils and stuck grinds out. Happy cleaning 😁

      It's called a Stirling espresso machine but I think you can only buy them through ALDI or second hand. They are great! Just make sure you're not buying the latest one which isn't great. You can tell the difference because one has a grinder built in and that is NOT the one you want.

    Hi Coach, is this a single boiler or thermoblock machine? How long is the heat up time?
    It looks like a 2 ear portafilter. Does any other standard 58mm naked portafilter fit it?
    Thank you!

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  Před 2 měsíci

      Yep, it's a thermoblock. It does take most of the standard portafilters but always best to check the depth of the ears before you buy. I think I had the Breville naked portafilter in there for a while.

    I really should clean more often. I’m doing most of this every fortnight, with the exception of removing the dispersion screen…. Which I have never actually done 😬. I’m definitely gonna do it tomorrow and will report back on how bad it is……

      Perfect! That's great for 2 years! I took one out of my friend's Rancilio Silvia a couple of weeks ago and it was coated in gunk. So some machines will get it more than others, but it's good to know yours is good for longer. What machine are you using, again?

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  Před rokem +1

      Yes I totally agree with you. but I think the whole thing is a wrought! How do they make us pay so much more for a portafilter that has less metal and if manufactured properly, takes less work?? $35 for a regular portafilter, $100+ for naked.
      Most people probably don't have a diamond saw to cut it though but it's easy enough if you have one and something to buff out the edges. I will do a video on how to make it. 👌

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  Před rokem +1

      Great question! If you can remove your reservoir you should clean it out with soapy water, rinse thoroughly. Do this on a regular basis to stop the bioslime building up. Also, keep you machine out of the sun if it's getting lots of slime.

    • @uritamminga1
      @uritamminga1 Před rokem

      @@Rydecoffeecoach Thanks for the answer! But I’m also then concerned about the hoses leading to the boiler. They will have the same slime inside them.

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  Před rokem

      Yeh that's harder to get to. Some people have said to use vinegar but I haven't personally tried that or really wish to in case it damages the other components. You could try a bottle brush in the first part of the hose, but other than that I would recommend starting with pure water (obviously that doesn't help if you already have bioslime build up).

    That’s not a correct back flush . A correct back flush can only be done with a machine with a solenoid valve. It send the cleaner you put into your filter basket through the machines lines. Let the machine sit for a bit with cleaner in machine then pull an empty shot .

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  Před 5 dny

      True! But I'm pretty sure this machine has a version of a 3 way solenoid, it isn't called that but you can still backflush it. Definitely correct about most appliance machines 🙏🙌
