    @Scorpiany Před 4 lety +21

    For the most part this was a very good video, especially for introducing light tank tactics to the average playerbase. There are definitely some fine-tuning aspects worth discussing though, that will also help you be more consistent with your light tanks. Let's discuss a few things from this video in more detail.
    At 4:37, the EBR 105 almost got one-shot by the FV4005. If you look frame-by-frame, the shell missed by no more than one or two pixels. This is because while the principal of the EBR's run was good, it would have been executed a lot more smoothly. The light went from cover in the low ground, into the dip (at which point he got spotted), and only then crested the high ground while already spotted. This allowed the enemy FV4005 to react enough to take a shot. This also means that the light gave away his position before he got any of the vision that he wanted, and when he got the vision, he was further away from cover than was safe.
    A better, more refined run would have been to go from east-to-west - Crest the middle first while you still have the element of surprise. That way people are less likely to be aiming for you, and have less time to react. Then when you go towards the dip and into the low ground, you're getting into cover immediately, so that by the time tanks such as that FV4005 try to react, you're already safe and in cover. The EBR did it the other way around which nearly got him killed.
    At 10:56, you'll see that Lemming's Tank Destroyers are shit-talking him in the chat for "not scouting". Unfortunately, that mentality from the tank destroyers is why they died in the first place. The TD's thought that a different position from the T-100LT would have compensated for their own bad positioning, but that's simply not the case. Even if Lemming had gone down south with the TD's, they would not be able to do anything without exposing themselves to fire, and that would have accomplished next-to-nothing. The TD's would have still died from staying in such a poor position, and Lemming would not have been able to influence the battle elsewhere, since he'd have been out of the fight had he gone south.
    Furthermore, as the enemy team had moved up, Lemming's own allied team had placed themselves in such positions where they could spot all of the enemy tanks coming in from the south. That means Lemming going back down south would have been completely redundant, as he wouldn't be spotting anything that's not already been spotted by another tank on his team. What you have to look for as a light tank are gaps in your team's vision, as well as the enemy's team vision. In that Live Oaks battle, that gap was up north, hence why it was such an important play for LemmingRush to actually go up north and continue to play north even as the enemy pushed south. Since his team had vision on their own down the south, the gap in the vision to cover was up north, which is exactly what LemmingRush was doing.
    Lastly, at 12:06, it's important to keep in mind where your team is actually positioned when doing end-game scouting runs like that. While doing a spotting run there in the end gives his team a huge advantage, I've seen a lot of light tank players do that run too early. Make sure that your snipers are within render range to actually hit the enemy's opponents, and make sure you let your allies move up first before doing that run. If you do a run too early before anyone can cover you, then you may get yourself killed. A lot of scouts that do runs like that will blame "noob team" for not covering them, when in reality the light tank was at fault for not being aware of his own team's positioning and doing the run too early.
    Also, if tanks such as the WZ-111-5A up north are trying to progress past the rails, they usually can't do that without getting spotted and shot at. That's also a different scenario when doing a scouting run is super useful. By spotting the tanks as the WZ-111-5A tries to get into position, not only can the 5A better react and better position based on what you spot, but you also provide him/her with a distraction, so that even if they do get spotted getting into position, the enemy tanks will be busy turning towards your light tank, rather than shooting the allied 5A as they get into a more advantageous position.
    That's all the detail I'm going to go into for now. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll be happy to answer them.

    Best advice ever given for light tank drivers: "Know when to scout, when to move, and when to be satisfied with current results". As you say to many players keep chasing the same spots over and over and end up dead. Scout then drop contact, scout again, drop again, move to a new area, rinse and repeat. Thanks! You really clarified what I had been thinking myself. Maybe I will get better at this light tank thing. The hardest tank to play.
    Could you do more of these for the other classes please? This was really helpful for me. Thanks!

    I had a game that went just like you described, I was spotting for the first half of the game and by the power of counting spotted tanks and noting their position, I saw that there was a TD holding off two of our meds in one flank, but he was alone.
    So I went on the hunt, got that TD and lead the push from that flank, and I got a good amount of both spotting and actual damage and ended up on top of my team on the end plates :)

    In a 2-4+ LT per team game there's always the one that yolos at the start, let them make that sacrifice...

    The worst part about light tanks and fast mediums (like the Leo PT A) is that random teammates wants you to suicide to spot someone so they can get one shot off. If you don't suicide scout (yes, I even had that in a Leo PT A) they will just shoot you.
    That's why I don't play lights too much anymore. Too many teammates just shoot/TK you if you don't suicide scout for them.

    @jannejaakkola5836 Před 4 lety +7

    I like your videos and your thought process, but this one really raised one point that I've noticed in your LT play earlier as well. The point is that you seem to have a tendency to brawl in the city even when there would be actual spotting opportunities.
    The Live Oaks game is a prime example of this. I like the early spotting run, but after that your team had way bigger needs for eyes in your base than what you did in the city. Killing 277 was nice, but you already had so many more HTs that they could've dealt with him. Now your TDs lost vision and were picked of easily, giving enemy team complete map control.
    So what I'm trying to say is that you seem to undermine the spotting capability of LTs in 2019. While wheeled vehicles have reduced that role quite a bit, there are still situations where parking into a bush and spotting for your team makes a lot of sense.
    Anyway, I still like your vids so hope you keep em coming.

    • @HyinaM
      @HyinaM Před 4 lety

      Agreed, each player has their own thought process however and it seems to suit him well. I've tried his tactics on Highway south spawn and sometimes it pays off and sometimes doesn't.
      I consider myself one of the top light drivers in the game and I think the key is knowing when to be risky and when to play it safe, and be able to switch it up when the time is right. His city play is fine as it gives him plenty of hard cover whereas some like myself prefer soft cover and bush work.

      This game needs major view range nerf. This game is so old now that basically every tank has 5 skill crews and 500m vr. Older wot had more use for lights but now meds are simply better

    Love those yolo lights who die at start of match. Lights are many times most fun but hardest and require skill. Have to know the map

    It would be nice if 1 light tank or medium tank could spot or scout per battle. That would be awesome!

    Yeah... suicide scouting is what brought me here. I really don't like light tanks but a lot of lines start out with them and I keep getting stuck around tier 4 not doing very well. When I actually do try to scout, I'll usually find 2 or 3 people then instantly explode.

  • @joym3357
    @joym3357 Před 4 lety

    so you dont try and scout all game long?
