This was my first tier X, have had it since the official game pretty much released. Haven’t played this game in 8 months but from what I can gather with the new equipment it is broken if you’re a decent player.
I think it was my first or 2nd heavy tierX, it was widely used for CW with the E5. Have not played it for a very long time though. And grrreat video as usual !
I went for the is7 instead of the 277 because i love the looks, and virtually it has no cupola. i had my first match with it and im super satisfied with what ive chosen, it has solid yet trollish front and side armor, pretty fun 130mm gun, and impenetratable turret. If youre in the open when suddenly a hostile tank appear, just show them that diamond shaped front end, its trollish believe me, if they didnt hit the underplate they'll most be likely to bounce those shells of your front upper plate 🙂
I think I had my luckiest moment ever before in a FV4005 when I saw a hull down IS-7 so I aimed at the tiny cupola on the top of the turret(those 2 little view finders are weak point but they are essentially covered by armor in front) and the HESH round dipped into the cupola, brining a 1.7k dmg pen... I regularly hit that spot with a chieftain, but it does require exceptional marksmanship, and if the IS-7 is moving around it is much harder, when stationary and you are slightly above the IS-7 it’s a good place to shoot, even standard rounds go in there I mean FV HESH has 230mm pen, probably less is needed for that weak point in general

The IS-7 actually has tiny cupolas that you can pen aswell. They're almost impossible to hit but if you're in a tank with good gun accuracy like a super conqueror and the IS-7 is sitting completely still because he feels safe hull down it's an option. It also tends to piss them off which is funny.

Lemming, I've said it before and I'll say it again, these "Stream of Consciousness" type videos are great! This or the Obj. 277 for a newcomer to Soviet HTs? I'm at the IS-3 and I struggled to make it work. I gave up for now, but I'm planning to revisit the line soon.
You can penetrate the IS-7's turret with something much weaker than a Jageru, but it's very situational. If an IS-7 goes to facehug you, and starts aiming up at your cupola? With their gun mantlet being raised, aim at the spot it would normally be covering. It's only 130mm.
I like the IS-7. HOWEVER, I find the T110E4 spanking these things left and right in most instances. The only times they have trouble in a 1 on 1 fight of equal skill, is when the IS-7 goes hull down or gets too close. If far away, the E4 loads HE and spams it to death. Very good review lemming, the IS-7 is still a feared machine.
It seems that the IS7 plays a lot like the Defender. As I’m learning to play it and get better with it, the same issues come up - use equipment to make it more accurate, don’t give lower plate or flat sides on front, don’t miss shots because of reload, some ability to side scrape, etc. So you’re discussion was very interesting and useful because I did notice a big difference trying to play the 277, which plays nothing like the Defender. So, now obviously, the upper tier analogy to the Defender is the IS7. Thanks!
Congrats on the 3rd mark! Great video and explanations! Personal note and lesons learned: IS-7 was my first Tier 10 just some months ago (only started playing in april this year). You always get the impression, that your first heavy tier 10 will be a super tanking and killing monster. Oh no! you will be penned all the time, you will die to everything. Not because the tank is bad but because you are inexperienced. It is important to play lots of games on lower tiers to learn the basics and make them part of your natural reactions (like angling and side scraping that you explained), there is no time on the battlefield to "think" about it. Don't make the mistakes I made! Don't rush to tier 10 or even tier 8! Most tanks on tier 7 work with the same principles and learning is a lot more forgiving. After 6k battles I have now moved back to driving tier 7 mostly, tier 8 now and again. I'm getting way better results and even start making an impact in games! Much better feeling that getting slaughtered on tier 10 ;)
considering the low pen of standard ap on the IS7 and the fact you predominately use gold anyway I suggest you load more gold and less ap. I notice you burn through your gold fast and still have a large amount of standard ap. Might as well change you load out to reflect your play style and the meta of the game.

So I just got the IS-7, I've been noobing around a bit since I came back to WoT just a month ago. I have a game where I basically did the same moves, but we won the game. I have a lot of top games but not a great win rate, probably cause I'm being a bit too aggressive and exhausting myself on the battlefield trying to finish the battlepass. I'm not a consistent player and my stats show it, but I see a lot of carry potential on the IS-7, but only on slow games or with fire support, since I dont carry a rammer and the DPM isn't great already. Also learning the turret weakspots of other tanks makes arty safe hulldown really fun.
Setup although very controversial and mostly for fun, started with a turbo, grousers and a bounty rotation mechanism, turns it into a great medium for trading shots on flat ground, but I realized it doesn't have the gun depression or dpm for it. I tried swapping something for a rammer, kinda worked, but only on games with no arty, I always went through my repair kit cause of my tracks and my fuel tanks. My best games were agressive flanks on heavies, were I might loose some hit points/lit on fire trying to get into a position or Hull down scouting positions were you wouldn't expect a heavy. So I ended up with a rather strange setup of: Modified config, hardening and turbo. You wouldn't imagine the amount of times I've been saved by this, now I can keep the combat rations and I even left out the firefighting directive and and dropped to a small repair kit. The tracks sometimes dont even break, and when they do, they repair almost instantly. I can resist one more shot from a heavy thanks to the extra hit points, which has turned a loss into a win a couple of times, and the extra speed means complete relocation you'd do on a medium is viable. Plus when brawling, the additional acceleration gives you better shots and more time to aim, and those 2kmh reverse might save you more than once when fighting a ridge.
Also, sliding from ledges isn't nearly as risky and ive rammed T10 mediums for over 700hp of damage, that once changed the tide of a flank when used as a breakthrough tank.
I would say that the IS-7 is still pretty relevant first tank. Simply because its definetly not bad in any ways, fairly easy to play and still can do well in the meta game. Not only that but the whole line is great from the low tiers. The only somewhat bad tank on the line is the IS because it doesn't have the tier to tier frontal armor as the rest have.
Players playing for marks, wanting more damage can cause teams to lose battles. It's becoming more noticable now then ever now. For example, T30 at 17:15 and then by not finishing off the the 430 at 15:55 the 430 goes on to get a minimum of two kills. Personal stats are ruining team play.
I don't play my is7 much anymore. I like it though. And honestly the long stock grinds towards other tier x tanks is putting me off to the point where I'm not going to bother getting tanks like the s.conq and basically any tech tree that is newer than France.
I was just like this for 6 years, but then I realized WG's recently been giving out a constant stream of not only blueprints but also x5 XP missions, which means you can research complete lines literally in days, stock grinds included. Moreover, you can also combine that with a fortunate Top of the Tree event to make it laughably fast and cheap.
that's true but I don't usually have time to play the x5 weekends or even that much during weekdays so when I do have time I want to play something that's fun without having to spend my precious time fucking around without a good gun, turret or engine.
@21:09 you say "can you get anything that's better." As someone who has USSR tier 7s, but nothing higher, what are the the tier 10 tanks that are better than the IS-7?

Yes it is.
my main is on us from anz before anz servers is it worth playing with 200ping seems like its such a disadvantage :P
Wich is better the IS7 or IS4?
The 277 have way more gun handling, but less armour, I like that trade
Gold ammo go BRRRRRRR
enemy IS 7: Hulldown in a good position.
Me, Jagpanzer E100: shoots HEAT straight through the turret
What ab the ST-II
I have a 60kmph cruising is7 down hill I go 80kmph I'm now a medium tank ramming monster
I need to buy back my IS-7...💪🏼
WHY DID YOU SELL IT
@@ivelin_kolev Buying the Obj. 277
can u do the bobject 277?
that be fucking great
What is your thoughts on the is4 compared to the is7 lemming?
Is4 is not bad now but it is the most boring tank in the game is 7 is fun and more powerful
And here i am sitting with 1 and a half crew skills
its worth it i have it and i love it
@21:09 you say "can you get anything that's better." As someone who has USSR tier 7s, but nothing higher, what are the the tier 10 tanks that are better than the IS-7?
interesting !
