Ed is the only official governing body of Cannonball .
unwritten rules
The Real Life Most Wanted Blacklist
Woah they made the need for speed most wanted black list a real thing!
Make a game out of it cmon vinwiki
🤣🤣🤣🤣
haha lol
nice :D
Glad to be part of this list! Thanks for publishing
Ahh, tedWARD and edWARD. 🦑 WARD & 🧽 BOB.
I did a "not cannonball" road trip from the Red Ball to the Portofino, over 7 days, on Harley, at or below the speed limit, stopping to do the touristy crap, eating anywhere that wasn't a national chain, and I loved it.
That's my cannonball story.
That is also one of the ways of doing it
Ed, you ARE personally the governing body of cannonball now. Everyone comes to you and through you.
Yep. Id agree. Brock and Ed are 'The Cannonball Guys'.
We come here for his cannonball expertise, as well as his thorough documentation of automotive enthusiasm from the enthusiasts perspective.
Me: Casually reading the leaderboard list..
Reads: Record w/ Deceased Passenger...
Me: Uhhh
Can someone please explain this?
What?!
What place?
8:40 # 66. Lmao!
This one needs a video, I had the same question (its now #69 on the list)
Its a crazy story, but in the 2904 and C2C combined race in 2017, a team raced a volvo wagon, fully dressed as a hearse, with the ashes of a friend in the back. Its a story that really needs a full vinwiki spot
Cannon Ball needs to become "join the club" instead of "beat the record" or eventually safety is going to go out the window.
there are cannonball related rallies, allowing to safely and comfortably travel the route
races and record runs are about the speed, and unless restricted by factors similar to 2904 the speed will increase
I fully agree, and the C2C is all about that, rather than record breaking. The desire to drive a car non stop coast to coast is what unites us all, very few are have the capabilities and the budget to attempt break records safely. We had wayyyyyyyy more fun trying to get our $3000 cars across the country in under 40 hours than most people have running records. Most record breakers say the same thing.
Great list, but you seem to be missing a silver and blue BMW M3 GTR.
Just happy to be on the list! Thank you Ed for putting this together and for the support to us and everyone with their runs!
Best series on CZcams. Look forward to each episode.
Ed, I love it all! Please keep up the great work, it's awesome
Love the channel Ed. Thanks for putting out all the great content.
I’m a simple man, I see Ed Bolian and I press like
I came to VINWiki for the Cannonball stories. Love to live vicariously through the cross-country tales.
It's easier than you think and 100% worth it. I don't regret it one bit and you won't either (unless they catch you in Ohio). 😁
Great editing to add the tweet from Bill Russel. The GT 400 is a very interesting car, for sure
Ed Bolian: Cannonball Run Curator, former record holder, keeper of the 7 month secrets and shrewdest of negotiators.
A Ram ecodiesel set a record of 28:03. Bruuuh makes me wanna do it with my Grand Cherokee ecodiesel. I'd like to know more info about that run
Yeah. That should be a video.
What about a trackhawk?
@@TheMikentyty not a bad car but the fuel economy is horrible. SUVs imo arent the ideal car for a record breaker. I think it has been proven that a super sedan is the best
@@AStick3Pedals > I think it has been proven that a super sedan is the best
There is a podcast @Tedward did with the 25:57 Chris duo where they suggest that it might be reverting back to sportscars being the best choice because they have already made up all the time possible through the middle of the country and any additional gains will be through the mountains.
So Ed just complied a Car version of a Speedrun master list for Videogames. With notes for unverified or disputed accounts.
Great job making this list! Very interesting and fun!
Bill Russell is my favorite basketball player of all time. Combine that with my favorite CZcams channel... heaven. Lol.
Ed you never seem to get boring , always entertaining bravo!!
A Honda Odyssey 20 mins off Roy and Maher's time in the e39 M5, haha, wtf!
Every time one of those things gets near me, its rear backup camera sets off a false K band.
Notoriously awful car to be around, what a record!
(I set a record for myself in my M3, in the end of March from the Ohio side of PA to NJ in the early AM hours, averaging 110mph but my main setback was fog, some parts I had to slow down to as slow at 40mph. Appalachians were foggy. I think that's the closest Ill get to attempting a Cannonball)
I never knew Brock Yates, but I'm willing to bet my savings on the idea that he would be jazzed with the current crop of Cannonballers. I hope you blokes are proud of your exploits because you're doing the event proud.
It is my dream to one day sit in the VinWiki chair and talk of the widely unknown but rich history of the Cannonball in Australia, along with my story of how I set the new record.
New record? Details!!!
@@brettwarren3429 unfortunately due to state border closures last year, the Westernmost to Easternmost points run is currently on hold until things improve.
@@HazeyAuto the way I read it, It came across as you'd already done it. Bigger balls than I if you do a cannonball run in Australia these days
Ed, thank you for sharing this! I've got the time sheet that Pierce and I had from The 2904 run we did in 2007 if you need it. 😁
Ed: "it would be an amazing story for either bill or wilt to come to tell"
Wilt died in 1999
Well, that didn't age well.
Get the ouija board
That would certainly make it amazing if he showed up to tell the story.
Thanks for your efforts Ed.
Will be tough. Wilt passed away in 1999. My dad did a signing with both of them. Bill Russell was super nice. Wilt yelled at me for asking for an autograph. I was like 10. My father kindly reminded him that he was paying Wilt and that if a child asks for an autograph to just do it and he will cover the fee.
Great list! Thank you. :-)
This has been the best channel especially during the bat stew flu season.
😂
I just want to do the run. Not break a record, not go crazy... I just want to experience doing that route non-stop. Maybe breaking the very first run's record would be icing on the cake for me.
Thanks for keeping the fire alive, Ed.
Feels great to finally be on the list!
Shouldn't Fred's 25:55 also be the rental car record as well?
Handsome Ed, king of the Cannnonball.
Everyone's talking about the "record with a deceased passenger" but I wanna hear about the record set with a 2012 Honda Odyssey.
Thanks for taking the time to make this list.
Every time I find myself thinking about possibly going for the cannonball record, someone comes out and beats the current time. Very impressive.
This is awesome.......someday I wanna add my name to the list!!
Hey Ed just not sure if you heard of Martin Vaca, has a repair shop of all kinds of cars in guadalajara MX. He has a show on discovery spanish. Might be but may not be the car you are looking for.I was watching clips of past shows and just out of a glance in the back ground there I saw a grey gold rim F1.
This is awesome, thank u
I love the cannon ball stories
Ed, I am really interested in cannonballing and do intend to make a run (not for record breaking), but I would love to know the nitty gritty details. Are there any lists or documentation of gas stations that were hit and specific changes to the routes other than what google maps says? I would love to see more about this to better prepare myself.
OK; I want to know more about the "record with deceased passenger" there has to be a good story behind that one. Joseph Herman 37:06 10-21/22-2017.
Jesus you're right!
Ashes of his wife, good sir. The passenger didn't die on the run, she died before the were able to complete the build and run, so due to the cremation they were able to dress the Volvo wagon up with the hearse squiggle thing, and the ashes in the back, hence the deceased passenger.
I'm so glad something like this finally exists! I noticed some funny things-
The fastest time by ANY Asian car is a Honda Odyssey. What in the world?!
The average speed without stops in 19th place is 19 is -2,330.44 (I'm guessing that's a formatting error because they were stopped for over an hour).
thanks Ed! will take a look !
I saw Wilt's Countach. He drove it without a seat.
One thing i love about ED is hes so humble
Ed needs to vlog his day to day activities. I wanna see that
Getting ready to do the cannonball route in march just drive it no record attempts
Extremely proud and honored to be on this list with so many absolute legends.
Ed, what are your thoughts on north- south records. Either coastal or otherwise
Love from Philadelphia!!
Thank you Ed!
I'm just happy to be on the list. -CannonallBug
Could you do a story on the 2017 Volvo V70 run with the deceased passenger? I’m sure we all have more questions than answers there!
Shouldn't Fred have the solo & rental record?
Nice to see EA824 4.0Ts up there, they are quite good at covering the miles even with their potential flaws.
Great to see you having tackled this chore. Curious, with #94, what is a 1977 "Ferrari 308 GT 350" ?
I love the cannon ball episodes 🤷🏾♂️
Hey Ed, as far as merch goes have you thought about doing a small emblem with the VINwiki logo? I’d buy one for $50 and I’m sure I’m not alone.
Think the style of the old Land Rover badges, it’d be sick
Love this stuff. Once made it 90% across Canada in 36hrs 👍 😂
I would like to start a project on a video about specifically the world record progression of Cannonball. For those of you who have heard of him, I want to do it in the Style of Summoning Salt. This video and this document will be a great resource and likely my motivation to start.
The longest I’ve driven was from Dallas Texas to Oakland Ca. 25 hrs straight just gas and go !! I can’t imagine doing a cannonball.
Is there a cannonball from Alaska to portofino?
Wilt has been dead for 20 years, but sure come on down😂😂
Lmao 🤣 🤡 🤡
Greatest List Ever!
I like that a 102 hour run made the list
Bill Russell and wilt? That’s awesome.
Imagine being a cop scrolling through CZcams and seeing the cover photo
Alex and Richard had "very different levels of proof". Yep, Ed, you majored in political science. Alex: "I got a LOT of evidence". Richard: "I got a tattoo..."
I used off the record for a ticket i got back in october. Super easy to use and more affordable in the short and long term than a 19 over ticket.
I live in Canada. Does anyone know if there is a Canadian Cannonball style run. I'd love to see a video of other similar records. Like a U.K. north to south record or a European Cannonball. Would be cool to see what is out there.
Question, is a Vespa a motorcycle or a scooter?
Because you have the model year of some of the cars on the list, the data analyst in me wanted to see that information for all cars on the list you happen to know the model year.
Are you adding the EV records to the list?
I wanted to ask you this on thatdudeinblue channel but didn’t know if you would see it. But I’m interested in a GranTurismo. Are they really bad? I was looking at a MC Stradale and wondered are they reliable or not. Online I’ve seen slot of owners say it’s been bulletproof engine wise. And I don’t care for the F1 transmission. I’m just worried about reliability and will it leave me stranded on the road.
What was that photo of the interior of the terlingua mustang?
Southern Route record holder (for a few years, beat now a couple of times)
I’m blown away the van record is 31:48 😬. I plan on doing a run with my wife and we won’t be close to that. But it’ll still be fun for sure.
We were once picked up at LAX and drove back to CT. The car....A 1973 Corolla with flowers painted all over it. Nobody saw that coming....boy oh boy....that trip was long....I wish we could of made the trip in record time, alas...it was not to be.
Is it possible to go faster?
No, only slower! 😪
we'll see in 24 hours!
always
Of course it's possible, we are in America, at least at the time of this content. Rest assured that right now, someone is brainstorming a plan to get on the,"Blacklist".
Have to get the story on the Dodge Ram.
"Joseph Herman 37:05 Record w/Deceased Passenger" .... Ed... I have questions... lol
Hearse
i second this:)))
Can you add a column with the number of days the record was held?
That's awesome...
What’s more effective and efficient for traffic control, wider roads or more roads?
After doing this, I'd say wider roads. So many LLH
ive become extremely interested in attempting my first cannonball. im not out for a record but i want to have the experience as a car guy and come in under 48 hours. I just want to thank you and everyone who has told their stories, its inspiring car people like me. Thanks for all of the car stories and keep up the good work!!
Ed, it’s about to be broken by the two youngest drivers ever. Stay in touch :)
Good luck & may your insurance rates survive unscathed!
Be careful
Last time I was early Ed was still the record holder of Cannonball
How many of the runs on the list are West to East?
Have any of these drivers named their son Erwin? In honor of "cannon ball" himself.
How about a cross country run at legal speeds to see how fast it can be done legally. The emphasis would be on route planning and fast stops. Popular Mechanics did it in the late 60s in around 48 hours.
There is a typo in N23 the formula reads =I23/((G23-M23)*24) but should be
=I23/((E23-M23)*24)
The MPG for K5 is about 12 according to one of the video's I can try and find which if its absolutely crucial
Number 66 on that list is Joseph Herman, it says record with deceased passenger. Can anyone explain?
Now we need a story on the record for “fastest time with deceased passenger” I just saw on the list
Other comments say it was ashes in an urn not a dead body
@@bartleskeet1623 oh I think I remember that. Certainly less illegal than I was imagining
Has anybody done it in a semi? How long did it takr?...me and a team member did it in like 48 hours, in a 65 mph truck...but if you had a non-governed truck, and trailer,,,how fast could they go?
Ed, you are the governing body of cannonball. I thought you new that...
what does w/Deceased Passenger
mean? Did the passenger die during the run or did the driver had to rush a dead from body from one cost to the funeral on the other coast?
Ashes
i got one crazy car story about car i owned. it was 2007 Bmw 545i. car was listed as run and drive with no check engine light and it was cosmetically great. it had great interior and paint as well.it looked like it barely even had 50000 miles. So i test drive it and bought it. as i was driving home check engine light comes on. car starts shaking aggressively because all 8 cylinders were misfiring. also car needed tire alignment so steering wheel was at 45° angle while driving straight. i went few more miles driver and passenger both airbag turns off and car was basically rolling death trap.... lemme know if u wanna know more about it😅 its kinda long story
Record w/ deceased passenger
I have questions...
lmao I saw that too. was trying to google any information on that.
Ed- do you believe The Rawlings/Collins time?
Last time I was this early, Rabbit still hadn't noticed the rip in the roof of the van.
Yall better get ready to add me and my 240sx this year.
