Yeah that would be, but those classic cars need a lot of modifications to perform well at high speeds. Though, if you get a 70's Challenger, take it across country and you'll truly enjoy.
So! Lets take an objective LOOK. Okay, let's not compair Apples to Oranges... The record in 1979 was... 85mph in a Jaguar XJS... with the national speed limit of 55 mph Therefore raiseing the limit to 70mph you have to adjust the speed of the record thus ... 70/55 × 85 = 108.18 for an adjusted avg speed... I Sadly inform you, you have 5 more mph to reach the old record set in 1979 by a Jaguar XJS... In 1981 w a limit of 55 i made it bank clock to bank clock at 180 miles in 105 minutes avg speed of 103... I would today have to beat 131 mph to top that record... So from 105 min i would have to do it in less than 43.6 minutes So leaving Tallahassee at 10am The bank clock in Pcola have to say 9:42... I would have to get to Pcola before I left Tallahassee 😂 Please remember that the original cannon ball run was in protest of an oppressive national speed limit... which we no longer have
You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. The record isn't adjusted for speed limits or technology. It's point to point as fast as possible. Besides the fact that ed bolian set the last record in like 2004. I suggest you go watch some vinwiki videos.
Since they are online admitting they broke the law and show the data couldn't they still have charges brought against them? Where were the police all this time.
You're missing the point, big time. There were no police calls. There were no incidents. Why does it matter if they broke a traffic law or two. Police has been tolerating many left lanes hogs, and that's illegal and dangerous.
@@BlueRidgePhantom You also are missing the point that it was illegal, irresponsible and hardly safe. They don't know if there weren't any incidents either. As far as the hogs I have a problem with the people that believe the public highway is their own private racetrack.
@@BlueRidgePhantom You are so full of BS. Preparation can only go so far. On a public road you can't prepare for all the surprises that can show up. Please stop trying to make excuses for their stupidity.
@@ardentelford2111 you're too stuck up to understand. 'Cannonball Run' is an event created against imposed highway speed limits, same speed limits that have not changed since drum brakes cars were every car on the road. This event is to prove that fast travel is possible with no incidents or fatalities. This isn't the first time, won't be the last, and the publicity is for the record. I've done it in 33 hours 2 years ago. Will do it again and again. German highways aren't for idiots, and precision driving is a thing, so why are you trying to prove that this county cannot do what Germany did. We even adopted Nazi time saving, and that's BS. Allowing people to go fast doesn't mean a higher fatality rate. People crash and die at 50 mph. Speed isn't for everyone, some panic when the car moves and others think 100mph is the end of the word. Then, there are some that can drive, if you can't, don't argue, either improve your driving or stay in the right lane. This is all.
Aww they referred to Doug as a man, how cute.
Doug and Arnie still holds the record in my eyes considering they did it before the pandemic!
I want someone to do this in a white Dodge Challenger like in vanishing point. That would be cool as hell!!!

First as if it matters
That's subjective.
Blue Ridge Phantom I meant first comment I think the run is badass
Haha, very funny. You stayed on topic. Let me retract my statement. Cheers.
Blue Ridge Phantom it’s all good I forgot what I meant by the comment for a minute
That was funny though.
