Converting a commercial ficus into bonsai | Cutting off all branches, second year regrowing

- Well over two years ago I bought a massive overgrown ficus. After bringing the ficus back to health and restoring the roots, last year In spring ALL BRANCHES WERE CUT OFF! and I left it to regrow, wired and pruned and grafted over the rest of summer. Now it is time for the next stage of imroving and recreating a bonsai ficus.

Now this video will cover the second year of rebuilding a ficus bonsai, after cutting off all branches. Defoliating, wiring, regrowing and pruning, all the year 2 work. A true bonsai rescue timelapse where an overgrown commercial ficus was pruned hard and all grafted foliage was removed, so that new branches can grow, with the original foliage instead of the compact grafted.

I pretty well did the same with my Ficus this year - now sitting on my dining room table. Unfortunately it needs to 'pop outside' for a respray because of bugs! Nice progression on this one :)
Consider using one of those "plant pins". It has greatly reduced my bugs in winter!

Love this monster microcarpa. Have so many ficus on the go. Really it's almost too easy as a Bonsai. But it's fun!
You do need a proper climate and/or tropical winter setup though!
