✅The Ultimate Home Building Checklist✅

Southern State Builders is currently building this house and Jonathan went the extra mile to run a laser across the window grids (muntins) to ensure they were directly in line with the door and continue on to the windows on the other side. These are the types of details you should be getting when you build a custom home. A lot of homes now are being called custom homes but are actually custom builder grade homes, the homeowner is paying custom prices for builder grade material.

I'd rather have a builder with OCD over a builder with IDGAF
❤️❤️❤️❤️
True That!!!
You got a serious problem. I could not hear what you said.
Lol
its because the ones who dont have schedules to get done for closing dates
I wouldn’t call it OCD, I would call it doing it correctly.
My thoughts exactly. 👍
exactly. I'm shocked that someone would be shocked by this.
Pretty much bro
Ikr. I don't get it.
I think it’s a humble brag
It is called professionalism, understanding his craft and ensuring that the customer is happy.
Lots of middle aged men with OCD.
@eldesgraciado6690 yep. If I know a car isn't right, it doesn't leave my shop
@@FixIt1975 I'm not talking about business, I'm talking about crazy guys who do their lawn twice a week or who detail their car every other day. Something has happened and borderline autism is on the rise.
@@eldesgraciado6690neither are indicative of ocd, they are indicators of zero fulfillment and having nothing to do with your time.
@@eldesgraciado6690should change your name from eldesgraciado to lacazadoradeporongas.
i hate it when people who actually care about their work and deliver a great job are also accused of OCD as if doing the job right is some sort of weird disorder
So I am diagnosed OCD and I don't see a big problem with it. Yes it downplays mental illness and yes a job should be done right regardless. But my diagnosed OCD actually benefits me in my job working in trades. As a cabinet maker my OCD raised our shops standards of operations. I don't care that they all joke about OCD this and OCD that, because OCD isn't an issue. So what if someone says someone is a little OCD for doing something to perfection, it's perfect so just let it be perfect
Well, normal definition... So yeah, dudes weird.
Just not practical if your not in it for the money, then it's a serious dissorder
Everything is done halfassed and in a hurry, these days. It’s not to get a job done. It’s to spend more time screwing off on the job, and doing less actual work. This guy in this video is ratting himself out for this.
This dude has a DISORDER called ENVYINISM;
he wishes it should have been his work!!
envy (n.)a feeling of discontent and resentment aroused by and in conjunction with the possessions or qualities of another.
It’s not clinical OCD, it’s called pride, quality skills and professionalism in his work which speaks volumes. I’d hire him any day.
You're giving way too much praise. It's called a "level."
@@angelamapes7553 you’re missing the point. Yeesh.
As a contractor, everyone wants to hire this guy but not many is willing to pay the price for this type of quality
There are lots of middle aged men with OCD now-a-days.
I have OCD diagnosed, and that is something I would want done. I don't really have the compulsion, but I am obsessed once I put my mind to it needing to be done a certain way.
That isn't OCD, that's professionalism.
Hey, you know what they say about glass houses...
That is not a problem, that is a contractor that takes pride in his work!
A problem? You have a problem making a video about a problem which is not a problem but craftsmanship
yea, he's emptier on the inside than that house.
Hes an influence type. A soi boy @@durere
It's click bait😊
I wouldn't call it OCD, I would call it competent professional work done right.
If you think that level of attention to detail is a problem there is no way I'd want you anywhere near a project for me!
He was just pointing out a factual statement... I'd be surprised if he wasn't the one that done it 👍
@@jeromepayne no, because it’s NOT OCD. it’s called doing your job well.
That bothers me so much
@@Person-mh6xq Also, even _if_ it were a diagnosed disorder, it'd be OCPD.
Better open that check book . Perfection cost more 💰💰💰💰
It’s called excellent workmanship!!… hard to find these days!🤔
As a window and door saleperson for 35 years, I can appreciate the time they took in getting this right! They more than likely ordered the windows and doors before any laser line was laid out
wouldnt they all be made to suit the joinery line anyway though?
Not ocd bud it's pride
And not mental retard pride, pride in his work, and few people still have that
@@flipperbooch2194Wtf? Reporting your comment. No need for any of that.
That's not OCD... That's a great carpenter!
It's also called higher that guy every time and tell your friends on how good it is that's not OCD that's just good craftsmanship
Yeah, can't see how this would be an indication of a mental disorder
@@rdoc422 u can't c it's not level?
And I think you fell for advertising 👍
I wouldn’t pay a professional contractor if they weren’t lined up.
That's not OCD. That's experience, attention to detail, and planning the project. That's how you land high-end jobs.
It’s called having a good architect and a builder that can read a blueprint. Props looks good
Why are there no architects in heaven?
Because jesus was a carpenter.
That’s not a builder with OCD, that’s what all builders should be doing 100% of the time. In fact that would be the minimum effort involved to ensure you’re doing your job correctly and not half assed with the “she’ll be right” attitude.
Yea the home buyer or whoever dude is, is an idiot
Grew up hearing "those that can't do teach" never really understood that cuz if your teaching well then you've done it lmao but those that can't do or teach are definitely on TikTok
It’s no problem at all. Professional at his best. A lot of builders just throw crap together
It’s crazy when people take pride in their work.
That's the builder I want! One who takes pride in their work!
That’s not OCD. That’s pride in his workmanship !!!
Thats not OCD, thats doing what you were hired to do and doing it correctly.
Take pride in your work and always give the customer your absolute best effort.
In the end , your work is a reflection of who you are as a person.
Builder has a problem. It's called craftsmanship.
That’s functional-I’d be grateful for the attention to detail communicated by using the level to line up the windows. It might even be specified in the elevation.
I take it this video is tongue-in-cheek and was meant as a huge compliment to the builder. I admire a builder who takes such pride in his work.
It is incredible to me how many in this comment section didn't pick up on that. I guess not everyone is used to that kind of playful language. 🤷♂️
Exactly, but people on the internet don't always get it. Especially the fact he was complimenting the builder not insulting him/her :)
That’s called doing it right with pride and integrity.
Sounds like quality instead of slapping it together quickly. Something most people don't give a 💩 about anymore.
That’s not a problem that’s a serious skill of perfection.
Always good to see someone that takes pride in their work.
“All the way uh crost.”
That, Mister, is not a problem. He’s got the eye of an architect.
I love seeing people who take pride in their work!!!👍👍👌
It's not called OCD. It's a rare thing these days. It's called taking pride in your work.
There are so many cowboys in the building trade, its a blessing when you find one who actually takes pride in their work
He's a perfectionist and that's the only kind of person who should go into construction not just for aesthetics but longevity of the home or any building.
That's not a problem. That's a win for the homeowner.
It's not called OCD, it's called quality, pride, professionalism, and skill. You won't find this in Vegas.
Great problem to have for attention to details. Five Star!
The attention to deal is great. I wish more people put that much effort into doing their jobs. The problem is you feeling like you have to talk crap about someone putting in extra effort.
Maybe the problem is you don't know sarcasm. Because this was obvious sarcasm to me. But then again, women generally aren't used to this kind of banter, so I understand you would take this seriously.
@@rednas2.079 thanks for coming after me because I am a women. I happen to notice you didn’t reply to the men who commented similar to me. So obviously the problem is you.
That’s not OCD. That’s simply doing a job right.
This is not OCD, this is good craftsmanship.
I'm an electrician, and as soon as laser levels got cheap enough, made the boss get me one for my J-Boxes.
its called taking pride in your work!
That's what u call perfection. On point when finished. Way to go. Beautiful
Not really.
If he hadn't lined them up & the customer had flagged it as an issue, he would have *really* had a problem...
Not OCD. It's pride in his work.
That’s no OCD, it’s common sense.
Learned that my first day of drafting homes.
My OCD acts up when people say “Acrossed” 🤣😂🤣
It made the hairs in my nostrils stick out when I heard him say that.
Heard him right away. Sounds ignorant 🙄.
Exactly! When he said "acrost" I had to watch again several more times! 🙄 Someone should axe him if he knows there's no "T" in the word "across". 😁
Once that house is built, if you stand there as the new owner and you notice that one of those is a half inch off from that day forward, you'll never be able to unsee it. Props to the builder for doing it right
He doesn't have OCD, he's just a professional.
That's a problem I'd love for my builder to have 🖤
I think they called that pride in your craft back in the day, I wouldn’t want anyone other than a guy like that to build my house
That's called professionalism
That's what I love about great craftsmanship! It's so damn good that you don't notice things like that. Unlike the crap jobs that practically slap you in the face the moment you look at them 😒
You call it OCD, I call it perfection.
That's not OCD, that's attention to detail. I bet it's a luxury home
That’s the builder you want
How could they NOT line up?? Its almost impossible for them not line up. There would be a serious problem if they didn't.
Usually all the window headers are the same size ?
@@mcross320 you would think
I'll take a builder with OCD any day. I'm a career carpenter with OCD and was always given the job to fix the work of those who don't give a fk. The amount of times that I have heard guys saying "close enough" or "it is what it is" I couldn't even begin to guess how many times I heard it.
It's called taking pride in your work.
Omg imagine if they didn’t line up. I’d have him redo it. It’s called doing things right the first time. Not OCD
My little brother literally has OCD and when I put something in the off place he be like no no no that's the wrong place and then he puts it back where it was supposed to be😂🤣
Windows being fitted at the same height feels like the bare minimum standard.
That isn’t OCD. It’s professional pride and doing it right. As a home owner I would be furious if the glazing bars didn’t line up correctly.
So what?
As he should! ❤
Its sad when someone has done something to perfection, is then accused of having a problem. This is pride and exemplary Workmanship.
This is not OCD. This is a basic understanding of doing things right the first time around. This is called having an eye for perfection in design. This is called excellence in eye for detail.
it's called integrity. well done
That's not OCD. That's called doing your job properly. I would expect nothing less from my builder.
that builder can work on my home anytime, it's called taking pride in your work.
A problem? you mean he has a passion to make things look good.
this design requires perfection. it's not ocd, it's doing it right.
I don’t see a problem, I see a great builder
He's doing what you're supposed to do
No, this is a professional who takes pride in his work. I'm sorry if thats not you.
This is not a problem this is a serious guy who know quality😊
Working hard and taking pride in your work is not a mental illness. Thus is extremely disrespectful for those truly suffering from OCD, who don't chose to have intrusive repetitive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.
This is what you call delivering excellence. There are too many builders who have no clue about what that means.
Thats a good builder right there. Zero complaints here and i would never call that a problem
A person who takes his job seriously 😊
It's just called doing a professional job!
The guy that framed it was the same guy that set the windows. Took pride in his work. They probably shot all the studs in the basement instead of using precut studs like a lot of idiots.
It's not OCD, it's pride.
It is not OCD at all. Anyone who does not do that should be immediately fired because it is basic window installation.
I don't think I call that a serious problem. I think I call that done right and with pride... 👌
I agree with a lot of the posters...it's professionalism and making sure the customer is happy. Much easier to make sure it's right now than later once it's been trimmed and painted.
I do a lot of work fixing other people's mistakes. It's not easy, but it's a job...too many people don't care about the quality of their work.
The owner has a serious blessing
That’s a good builder. Be thankful you found him. If those windows are twisted in the opening the WILL CRACK. Not if but when due to stress.
This dude literally just did his job right. If the grid wouldn't line up i'd be pissed as a customer...
Lovely! We have a Wedding & Events venu on a 220 yr. old farm here in Ohio. I would love to have that builder help build that same design over our 4000 sq ft tent pad. The only thing I would change is it to be twice as tall with a peeked roof and the windows either sliding or french doors opening to a wrap around porch around the whole building❤
I've seen too many buildings where bad work ruined a good design. It's an eyesore looking at crooked tiles, undulated plastering, walls with deviations... Look at accurately built edifices... see how shadows cast beautifully from window panes, copings, and all details creating visual harmony and peace. You get my drift.
That’s not OCD, that’s doing the job the way it’s supposed to be done. That room was designed to be like that and it came out exactly as it should have
If those windows DIDN'T line up, that would be a problem. The builder just did it correctly...
It’s not OCD. It’s called taking pride in one’s work. Not everything has to be a disorder nowadays damn man.
That's a professional
That is called professional. Period.
I did the same for 30 years...its called competence.
I call it craftsmanship and pride in one's work.
Got clickbaited.
