I've never used slurry for granite sets but I guess each technique differs slightly, I bedded them into cement and sharp sand with hydrated lime content gives the mortar a nice white ish look
You are right, if we were laying a full driveway we wouldnt bother with the sbr cement slurry, but fir the additional strength of a bridging bond its really worthwhile specifically for the outer setts that are not locked in to any others. If you get the chance try doing in on a few last thing, next morning try and tap them out compared to stones without the slurry, i think youll be impressed
Not the way to lay setts. A bed of sand, the setts are placed. No cement. Otherwise it’s an hydraulic hammer to lift. Defeated the purpose of setts. Skill levels have disappeared.

You tell me how you could lay a 5 stone cross over in sand that wont move around after gravel is in place? If you say it needs haunching than i will call you a bodger….In the really old days we would set them in pitch, we have local streets done this way and 120yrs on… still here
@@MultiMills1it was a fairly good system too.. by the way this guy is wrong, you dont lay granite setts in sand 😂😂😂😂 its done as shown in a shard sand cement mix, the slurry is only needed for exactly this reason, to add strength

Hi lloyd, dan here, we mix a 5-1 sharp sand mix. The slurry is water, a dollop of sbr. And then cement, until thick like tomato soup.

@@groundworkbeserk7108 I remember pitch between these setts, we use to pick it out with twigs in hot weather.
