- Mover, Casmo, and I take a couple of great questions from the fans. Scary sea story time and how did drop night actually go down. Thank you for the support!
Every Monday at 8PM ET, Mover (F-16, F/A-18, T-38, 737, helicopter pilot and wanna be race car driver) and Gonky (F/A-18, T-38, A320, dirt bike racer, and awesome dad) discuss everything from aviation to racing to life and anything in between. Send your topic ideas to cwlemoine at cwlemoine.com!

Scariest story in military jet: I was an active duty pax in a 141 out of Korea to Kadena (early 1990s). Lots of space-a pax so I went in back & sat on parachute seats next to one of the loadmasters. As we are rotating out I happened to notice massive amount of red fluid flowing down opposite wall. I tap loadmaster & point; he gets on coms & about 30 sec later flight engineer & an extra pilot run back & start opening panels etc. Lost 2 (of 3(?)) hydraulic systems. They had to crank gear & flaps down. After we landed wife picks me up & asks ‘Do they always have all the fire trucks out on the runway?’ They couldn’t open the cargo door at back so had to bust down the baggage & pass through front door. Took hours on a Friday night (fortunately my bag was on top). Jet sat broke at Kadena for 3+ weeks.
Weird, just yesterday I was re-reading about that DC-10 in '89 that lost all 3 hydraulic systems and had to steer with the engines. They miraculously got it down and saved most of the passengers lives but it was pretty nasty. I then followed up on that Japanese 747 that lost all hydraulics and wasn't so fortunate - highest single aircraft death toll, like 500+ people
9:32 "Spanish wife" and the look on Mover's face. 😂 Great stories guys! 👍
Some great stories in just 12 or so mins.
“At least I’ll get to touch one, before they wash me out” 😂
I mean it’s good to not be overconfident that you don’t understand your own limits, but that’s going a bit far 😂
The stories from drop night just made me smile the whole way through. I know the feeling of "I'm just doing my thing; don't think it's anything special", and it's very special to the folks around you. The success stories are wonderful to hear; thanks for telling them!
This is great to watch and hear how you all got your assigned aircrafts, thanks for sharing your stories as I really enjoy them!
Thanks Polly!
It's funny how everyone is afraid of being washed out of their career field...I was an honor grad from ATC school, but I struggled, especially in the radar block. Fortunately, another class ahead of us washed back and my class got washed back into another set of really cool instructors. Your instructors make a huge difference. My first instructors were all about being intimidating, my second group just made fun of our mistakes.
"I'd still get to touch one before they wash me out" 😂
That were some amazing stories in just 12mins🤘
BY GOD! there is a flash from my past with the old bug rag.
Me too! Good times. I was there 2004-2007

Thank you for the support!!
Put this toward your JAS 39 Gripen E purchase. (I hear SAAB has easy payment plans!)
Will do! LOL!
Which was higher on your list Prowler or Viking?
This must be old, because my understanding is vfa 125 is the West Coast rag for F35 c.
It's a story about my drop nights...21 years ago....
Why didn't they barricade you with broken gear?
I still had the hook Sir.
The LSOs also follow a procedure book on when to barricade and very few emergencies actually result in a barricade required.
@thereadyroom7201 I guess I'm surprised they weren't worried you might damage the gear further on a bolter and then end up uncontrollable on your next landing. I'm glad you're safe. I'm sure they made the right call.
