Rene ranger.probably one of the most underrated players in New Zealand.everyone knew who he was at his peak. 2013 he was an absolute beast.his only downside is he came to light when the all blacks were pretty much established with that ridiculous team we’ll probably never see again.if he was any other nationality he would of been 1st on the team sheet and probably earned well over 60+ caps....

The jersey numbers are different between league and union.....In union.....it starts from fowards and goes to the backlines.....Forwards are from 1 -8 and backs are from 9 - 15...Forwards are usually big guys...with more power than speed....The forwards usually have more power cause they take part in the scrums and rucks which requires that power(similar to that of strongman).....while the backs usually have more speed than power..(more crossfit than strongman - however some backs could be just as strong as forwards and some forwards could just be as fast as backs). In league its just reversed....1 - 7 are the backs...while the upper numbers the the forwards...up till 13..As league is a 13 a side configuration...League forwards may not be as powerful as the union forwards....But they are usually faster....If you wanna see more the power of the union forwards try and see Bath rugby forwards have a scrum with a F1 car from redbull.....There youll see the strength thats needed in the scrums....8 men pushing an F1 car at full speed and able to hold it in a state of equilibrium.....Link:

All positions are main positions in rugby, it's contact chess. Either the backs or forwards, each number has a role and has an important part to play in the team.
    The forwards No.1-8.
1 and 3 are both props ( usally biggest in the team) but one is a tight head prop and the other a loose head prop. Tight head prop usually the stronger of the two because he pushes against a prop and a hooker in the scrum, loose head prop be the quicker of the two so he can break away from the scrum quick. No2 is the hooker, binds the two props to form the front row and is responsible for winning the ball in a scrum, also throws the ball in a line out when the ball goes out the sideline. 4&5 are your locks ( tallest in the team ) they provide a structural brace for the front row to stop them being pushed back, they are also lifted in the line outs. 6&7 are the flanks, one of the best tacklers in the game, they bind on the side of the locks helping with the structural brace, responsible for stopping a run play from the back of a scrum. No.8 is your No.8 ( a prop and flank mixed together ) strong and agile, sits anchor on back of the scrum, good for running the ball from the back of a scrum.
No.9 is your half-back/scrum half (has to be one of the fittest in the team) responsible for getting the ball from the forwards to the backs, and much more.
    The backs No.10-15.
No. 10 is your fly half/first five, usually the 1st receiver of the ball from the half-back preferably the best kicker in the game, sets the motion for set plays. No.11 & 14 are the wings, fastest feet on the field, contains the sides of the field and the back. No. 12 & 13 are your centres, all round power blocks, solid on offence and defence. No.15 is the full back, has to be the best tackler in the game, covers the back field and is the last line of defence.

he was usually used at center (13)(12) but would cover fullback (15) and wing (14) (11).. where ever he played he was an explosive player. breaking defensive line was what he was known for. he was an highly underrated player that would only make to international side as a replacement, to cover players who were injured. 1on 1 Renee Ranger was hard to stop. Teams would eventually have his number and apply a 2 or 3 or sometimes 4 to 1 players to take him on.
