i can tell you that julian played both wing and centre at different stages through his career it was really where ever the team he was playing for needed his skills, they are quite similar positions just centre involves more passing and setting up other players and wing involves more catching and trying to gain as much ground as possible
So they have a competition called super rugby combined with teams from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Argentina New Zealand has 5 teams in that competition from all the main cities across New Zealand so the all blacks are chosen from those five teams that’s why Richie and Julian were playing against each other.

Julian played in the centres when he was in high school 1st XV but he made rep footy, they moved him out on the wing.
