    Omg I just want to say thank you for this recipe I switched the emulsifier that you use to btms 25 and I absolutely loved it. I made a test batch yesterday of it and it’s still just as creamy as it was yesterday and feels absolutely amazing on the skin. ❤❤❤❤

    This seems like an awesome recipe. Do you think I could incorporate soap base in this recipe?

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  Před 2 lety

      Hi Bonita, I think the soap base would be more of a stand alone ingredient, so you would not need the emulsifier or thickener if you used a soap base. Just use the base and add about 5% of your total in oils (25-30 % soap base, 50-60% sugar, 5% oils, 1% FO, and the preserve). Hope that helps!

    Thank you for sharing this recipe. I made this and I love it. I too was looking for a less crumbly emulsified scrub and this it it. In trying to get this texture I was making a batch of body butter and just adding some BTMS50 and a preservative and sugar. Which is still nice but I find it leaves my shower floor too greasy. Your recipe is great. Thanks again!

    • @MsGolden333
      @MsGolden333 Před 2 lety

      One quick question...if I did want to tweak your recipe and add more moisturizing properties in the after feel could I just add more butter or oil? Would I need to change anything else? Thanks!

      Oh!!! Thank you for letting me know! That just makes me so happy that you tried and liked the formula!!💖💖💖

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  Před 2 lety

      That is a good question...I would say adding more butter may help with that. You might have to add a bit more poly to keep the oil slick down. Another subscriber advised I try an ester for my cream, I thought I would try that with this one too. I haven't ever worked with them before, and they are pretty expensive, so I'm not sure this would be the best application for it.
      You could also increase the IPM, I love how that feels.
      Please let me know if you make any changes and your thoughts on them! I might want to try it too!🤗

    Hello. How did you end up liking the recipe a few days later? Did it hold up the way you were hoping it would? Did it become too "crumbly"? Did it get too hard after a few days, or did the consistency stay close to the freshly made consistency?
    If it didn't, what "tweeks" do you think it needs?

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  Před 2 lety +2

      I did end up liking it very much - it ended up being drier than last taping but it was not crumbly at all, but it wasn't so "loose" it was dripping off my hands. All in all, I won't be making any changes to the recipe, other than maybe swapping oils/butters here and there. Hope that helps! Let me know if you try it, I would love to hear what you think. That will help me become better too! 💖

    This is a video for pros because I am so confused! Which ingredient is the emulsifier? What is the polysorbate 80 used for? I'm new to this and I need to know the reason for each ingredient. I make my own sugar scrubs and they need something to hold them together. What do I buy? Mine is simply sugar, oil, fragrance, food coloring and sometimes lemon peel! Before I can get it on good, it's in the tub!

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  Před rokem +2

      Hi Betty! Yes, this may be a bit advanced for you but let me try to help - the emulsifiers are the glyceryl stearate peg 100 stearate and the polysorbate 80. The poly 80 is mostly used to keep the oils/butters from making the shower floor too slick (it's a safety thing). Your struggle is with the scrub falling is one of the reasons I created this formula so I feel your pain.
      An emulsified scrub is one with an emulsifier (obviously LOL) - it keeps the oils from separating from the sugars, so no stirring needed. Stearic acid gives the scrub more body and thickness.
      so you need the emulsifiers, stearic acid and butters/oils. You will also need a preservative, unless this is just for yourself and you are careful not to put wet fingers in the scrub. Everything else is optional.
      Good Luck!
