I read the first book like 1,5 year ago (the other books, not yet, because I'm a really slow reader lately), and I was waiting for this show to drop, expecting to see only Alina's story, but to my surprise, the Six of Crows storyline was there, too, which I had no clue about, I didn't know the characters, nothing, but it blew me away, and I liked this storyline so much better than the main plot. I fell in love with this ship hard, it's just pure OTP material.
Also, I liked the show so much better than the books, because we could see other characters' POV, not just Alina's, and it made the story so much more natural and balanced. I really really loved it, and expect more videos from me with this show. So, enjoy :)

I was kinda afraid that Kaz's actor doesn't suit the character but after binge watching I can say that he's perfect
Inej and Jesper on the other hand just exceeded my expectations
Ed: they were all like just in my head but 10x better
never read the books but binged watched with my 3 kids this weekend, and this trio captured all my attention and the darkling tbh.....like Alina and Mal were ok but all the flashbacks and Alina's actess really I had a hard time getting invested and Mal how many times that poor guy got stabbed, shot etc. lol but overall nice binge watch

I watched the series and the trio caught my attention. I wanted to read more about them, but I have a question. Does the trio's story begin in the Grisha Triology or Six of Crows: Blood and Lies?

@@leilatoure1466 this is a spoiler for the book: He’s afraid of skin on skin contact, because of something that happened to him as a child. Now every time someone touches him he panics. That’s also why he always wears gloves. That makes a relationship kinda impossible.

“Of course, if something had gone wrong during the job, they’d be coming to retrieve your corpse.”
Inej choked out a laugh. “Just let me have this.” She righted herself, her balance returning. Had she really thought the world didn’t change? She was a fool. The world was made of miracles, unexpected earthquakes, storms that came from nowhere and might reshape a continent. The boy beside her. The future before her. Anything was possible.
Now Inej was shaking, her hands pressed to her mouth, watching them move up the dock toward the quay. She started forward, then turned back to Kaz. “Come with me,” she said. “Come meet them.”
Kaz nodded as if steeling himself, flexed his fingers once more.
“Wait,” he said. The burn of his voice was rougher than usual. “Is my tie straight?”
Inej laughed, her hood falling back from her hair.
“That’s the laugh,” he murmured, but she was already setting off down the quay, her feet barely touching the ground.
“Mama!” she called out. “Papa!“

Thank you for sharing. 🤍 I really liked the show and now contemplating if I should read the books :) I feel the actors playing Kaz and Inej did an impeccable job ! There was so much emotions and tensions between them on screen, so much unsaid yet you could feel it. Your excerpts from the book gave me an extended glimpse of the same, I really hope their story is well portrayed next season too.

I've always been a hardcore Kanej stan, and was worried that the actors wouldn't do these amazing characters justice. But they were all perfect and my love for the Kanej pairing has only increased and now I'm just going to go scream because I'm filled with feelings from this.

I just started watching the show and they have some undeniable chemistry we have no option but to ship it
Kaz Brekker has my whole heart
Just to reiterate some stuff that’s already been pointed out by others: the Kaz we see here is not the same character as the Kaz we know in the books, for a number of reasons. He’s not yet at the top of his game and this isn’t yet his story, nor is it yet the proper setting. Kaz’s identity, more than the other crows, is very much tied to Ketterdam and for most of this series he’s out of his element. I think that’s why Jesper and inej have both had big “moments” this season (Jesper on the train, inej stabbing that guy/ making her first kill) but non-book readers have yet to really see the Kaz we know, including the kind of cruelty he is capable of; right now he’s kind of just this the scheming stoic leader. Things will change once the infamous eyeball ripping scene gets depicted, I think that will be the moment where the audience will first gets to see that more violent side of Kaz. I consider this introduction sort of a warm up to get those who aren’t familiar with the source material to want to know more about the characters, so I think emphasizing their more likeable traits was a good decision. And let’s be honest, one of Kaz’s most likeable traits is how much he cares about inej- and yeah maybe it’s a little out of character to see him shouting after her. But in the book she’s constantly in his thoughts, we know she’s a driving motivator for a lot of his actions (including aforementioned eyeball ripping scene.) Since in the show we don’t have the benefit of his internal monologue non book readers would have no idea- a lot of his actions would make less sense without that context- and I think Kaz being a little OOC for their sake is alright. I don’t think it’s saying fuck you to the source material, I think it’s coming from a place of awareness that some things about the SOC books can’t be directly translated on screen.
Yeah, because I didn´t read the book, I was romanticizing Kaz a little bit and my sister (who read the series) said to me that he is much more cruel/cold/ambtious than he is the series. I agree with you that thanks to that, we can see the Kaz you all (who read books) would see, if there wouldn´t be any of his kind of romantic scenes (such us giving his club to Heleen or "I need you" scene). Thanks to that series, I am really looking forward to meet "the book Kaz", because I can see even from the Shadow and Bone that he is much richer and more interesting and certainly not black-and-white character. And thank you for warning us, who didn´t read books, to not be too surprised by his actions, because I wouldn´t expect eyeball ripping scene after Shadow and Bone. Huh, I have to prepare myself.

It's mentioned in the books that Heleen beat her and the other girls up, so probably due to that
I think she explained to Jasper why maybe self stitch since she was abused probably at the brothel

Wow I read Six of Crows and I didn't think I'd like them but this is like Percabeth level OTP
RIGHT omg? I was a hardcore percabeth shipper when I was younger and I thought the only way of showing affection was physical touch. Being sensual, kissing, saying sweet stuff to your partner etc etc. After reading SoC & CK and of course watching Shadow & Bone though (and growing up) I realised that love can be portrayed in SOOO many more ways. Intense yearning love stares, for example. Their on-screen chemistry is undeniable and you can tell they’ve got something going on without them even touching. Oh my God the beauty of this show 🛐

And, a series where I generally like all the couples in it- I mean Kaz and Inej are great, Nina and Mattias, and even The Darkling and Alina( they had such crazy good chemistry! Same, I hope they actually did that to make Kaz evolve into the Bastard of the Barrel he is. He could handle a whole crow club of people with that cane... They really made him look weak in here. I also hope that the Crows x Alina/Ravka storylines are over and there would be not much more crossovers. It can happen with Nina though.. Darkling was fond of her I think and she betrayed them, so when she joins the Crows, who also are on his black list there could be another showdown... But I really hope they don't mix them up with for example looking for the sea whip....
Kaz is weaker in the show but keep in mind that he isn't the badass Bastard of the barrel we know and love from the books, since the series shows a prequel to the events in SoC

When in the books even after working with her for two years he finds it difficult to open up to her. That was very out of character.
And kaz was always ruthless. Even when he was 9 so why not in the show.

Perhaps more inner conflict would have been nice and also just a hint on their/on his trauma would've been important for non-readers to understand their relationship more

The casting was PERFECTION !! But I was kinda a little disapppointed that they didn’t insist on the fact that Kaz is affraid of body contact. But it is fine I didn’t remembrer seeing him touching people and I hope they will that in season 2.
