"The gloves were his one concession to weakness. Since that night among the bodies and the swim from the Reaper's Barge, he had not been able to bear the feeling of skin against skin. It was excruciating to him, revolting. It was the only piece of his past that he could not forge into something dangerous."

Kaz was only nine when his brother died, that's younger than my brother, Jordie was only 13 at the end of his life, that's the thing about Kaz, he's so young but he's forced himself to act older, to age faster in his mind, to survive.
Ikr at age 17 he had such a high reputation in all of ketterdam it was actually sad
and in ck, page 365, paragraph 6, it says this word for word. “you want to know what pekka did to me?” his voice was a snarl, reverberating off the tiles. “how about i tell you what i did when i found the woman who pretended to be his wife, the girl who pretended to be his daughter? or how about i tell you what happened to the boy who lured us in that first night with his mechanical toy dogs? that’s a good one. his name was filip. i found him running a monte game on kelstraat. i tortured him for two days and left him bleeding in an alley, the key to a wind up dog shoved down his throat.” kaz saw inej flinch. he ignored the sting in his heart.
like, he was probably so still young! it is so sad, honestly
I love this! I hope we get a season 2 to explore Kaz's backstory. This song fits perfectly with the scenes!
Thank you 💖
rEaD tHe BoOk
I saw that their making a sequel for the six of crows which he’s in
His backstory be DARK… read the books if you want to learn it plus those books are NEXT LEVEL AMAZING
It's honestly so brutally sad and beautiful, when he see's that Inej is hurt and he calls to her, but you can see for a short second he contemplates if he should go to her and help her. But he chooses not to bc of his thing with the feeling of skin, and because he didn't want to hurt her more than she already was- he probably blamed himself for going on this scheme and it only backfiring. It's so beautiful because you see the softness of Kaz, but his eyes flicker and you see his painful backstory. Freddy Carter is such an amazingly talented actor!
I started reading the books after watching the show (I read six of crows first) and I was reading the chapters yesterday where Kaz's phobia is being explained and I cried my eyeballs out... I really love this character with all my heart and I hope in the future seasons of the show, they'll show some of his past and trauma
I always thought this song fits Kaz perfectly. I hope we will have more book scenes/his backstory in season 2
I hope so, too!
Me too but, I'm will be dead after see this😬👌
IMAGINE THE BATHROOM SCENE IN THE SEASON 2 OMG
I love the character build in this show and u can rly see the his pain. The pain of loving and caring but thinking it’s a weakness and being afraid of what may happen. Freddy Carter is an amazing actor and I would love to meet him someday.
2:29 I love how he looks in this scene, of course he is hot but he looks so broken and thankful all at the same time
OH SAME!!
I can’t wait to see Kaz backstory explored properly in s2!! Also I really hope they depict Kaz as the formidable criminal mastermind that he is Cus while I liked the show, I feel like they didn’t really show how much of a genius Kaz really is..
Yeah I agree, I watched the season without knowing anything about the books and then read SoC afterwards and when I watched the show I didn't really get the scary/ruthless side of him but OH BOY when I read the books it made so much sense
thats exactly what I thought
I finished the duology and let me tell you; all the anxiety attacks he has, the bathroom scene especially... God it hurts
the way i love him.
I honestly live for this. Kaz at first seems so tough, so unbreakable and so cunning yet his backstory makes him weak and traumatised. His fear for that weakness showing makes him to tough and I want a scene where he breaks that barrier and lets his weaknesses fall through.
thanks, I'm in pain now 😭
I'm not ready for his backstory in (hopefully) season 2
[(SLIGHTLY) SPOILERS FOR SIX OF CROWS AND CROOKED KINGDOM]

I'm gonna answer the first question giving less details as possible to avoid spoilers c:
I'm gonna give a number for every crow:
Well, I think it's mostly subjective, but I would gave it a solid 8. For me, the most painful story was the one of Inej.
Of all the crows maybe the ones which have a less traumatic backstory are jesper and wylan, which are a 5 to me (but I have to re-read the book), while matthias and nina start with a 6/7 and finish with an 8.
I'm sorry I didn't understand the second question 🤔
You're welcome! c:
The serie is actually a mixture of two different book' sagas set in the same universe (that's why many refer to it as "grishaverse"). Many characters are in both.
There is the trilogy, "shadow and bone", which tells the story of alina, mal the darkling etc, and there is the duology, "six of crows", which is set like three years later and tells the story of the crows (kaz, inej, matthias, nina, jesper and another character called wylan).
In the books alina and mal never meet the crows, but the show kinda merged the two storylines together.
kaz's story is told in the duology ("six of crows", "crooked kingdom") c:
@Zenia you're welcome 🥰
Kaz is one of my favourite characters and this is one of my favourite nf songs, this video is so well edited.
I'm glad you liked it :)
“Grab my hand I’m drowning” 😭😭😭
As someone with haphephobia, I'm really happy that his character exists and can't wait to see more of him on screen :)
I will never get over Leigh’s writing of his character.. it’s so well done and I love him sm, and Freddy did so well when it came to bringing Kaz to life 😭
Kaz and Inej are my otp
I feel so sorry for him 🥺
Proof that music really makes the scene, this is so epic
This song fits perfectly!
I feel terrible but when he gets beat up and held fast by Pekka’s men he looks soooo pretty.
I get distracted by how handsome he is.
I always love when people who only watched the show try and describe how broken Kaz is and then interrupt like “oh honey you barely know anything lmao”
I hope season 2 does Kaz justice, in both his trauma and how smart he actually is
Say you're there when I feel helpless
If that's true, why don't you help me?
It's my fault, I know I'm selfish
Stand alone, my soul is jealous
It wants love, but I reject it
Trade my joy for my protection
Grab my hand, I'm drowning
I feel my heart pounding
Why haven't you found me yet?
I hold you so proudly
Traumas, they surround me
I wish you'd just love me back
Say you're here, but I don't feel it
Give me peace, but then you steal it
Watch them laugh at all my secrets
Scream and yell, but I feel speechless
Ask for help, you call it weakness
Lied and promised me my freedom
Grab my hand, I'm drowning
I feel my heart pounding
Why haven't you found me yet?
I hold you so proudly
Traumas, they surround me
I wish you'd just love me back
Grab my hand, I'm drowning
I feel my heart pounding
Why haven't you found me yet?
This was utterly perfect. Thank you for creating this masterpiece
I keep rewatching this over and over and over again. This is amazing!!
Ay let's be real...pekka got really good facial hair.
I didn't see kaz character study before, but this will be one of the best I've ever seen 😍 It's so perfect 😍
god damn it's probably a bad thing i relate to him so much but like
same
this is so well-edited i would cry if i remembered how
This is so amazing ♥
Lovely edit! Kaz is my favorite character in the "Shadow & Bone" Netflix series and in the Grishaverse novels.
Your video and this song suit his character perfectly. Kudos! 👏🥰
Thank you ❤
why am i crying?
Perfection
SPOILER ALERT: Gosh when he passed out because of an anxiety attack... I was literally screaming my lungs out
wait when was that?
In the first book, when they are in the shackles, right? Right before his backstory reveal!!!!
@@_wtdwo_ YESSS!!!
God, I had gotten into reading late at night when reading SoC and CK so life lesson, don't read really depressing backstory at 11:30 at night.
I hope you know that I squealed when I saw this! One of my favorite songs and my OTP in one video!! This is gonna be a good day
I don't know how they will film season 2 since the six of crows duology is taken place 2-3 years after the shadow and bone trilogy but I hope they make it work and not change so much about the books bc I really want to see kazs story more like how it's displayed in the books
Byeeee this is brilliant
ugh i feel like the show did him so dirty. He ripped out someone's eye in the book. I never felt that danger from him in the show.
We are not there yet, probs in s2
@@bellabilge I think I’m one of the minority that actually really disliked the show. I feel like they could’ve done it way better, all these episodes and they couldn’t squeeze in any hints to Kaz’s trauma? I just felt like we could’ve have so much more in season 1, except we didn’t get much depth at all.
@@bluebell8557 I feel the same way honesty. Overall I like the show and the chemistry among everyone but they did Freddy so dirty with Kaz like why couldn’t they make him more dangerous. Who’s idea was it to get him beat up in episode 2 and another thing that really bothered me was the way they had Jesper and Inej show their talents and had Freddy go “I’ll find my own way” like why???
@@mariarivadeneira3360 he felt out of place and weak among them. I totally agree with you.
@@bluebell8557 well technically the show is called shadow and bone so its more about alina, mal and darkling. thats why
that is amazing 💛💛💛😘💛😘😘
the two dislikes are pekka rolins and tante heleen
I havent read the books but im planning on reading them. I have a few questions,
1. In which book do we learn his story?
2. Should I read the Shadow And Bone series to understand Crooked Kingdom?
We learn his history in Six of Crows and no, you don't have to read Shadow and Bone :)
@@captnswilson thank you so much, and I feel soooo stupid and clueless for asking this but... dont we see him in Shadow and Bone too?
@@beliny544 They combined the storylines from the books in the show. That's why we don't really see Kaz's backstory in season one as it is the prequel to Six of Crows :)
So far in Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse novels, Kaz is a main character in "Six of Crows" & "Crooked Kingdom" & he briefly appears in "Rule of Wolves". Hope that helps! 😉
@@BrooklynBrimstone It helped a lot. Thank you❤
roses are red, violets are blue, o w that hurt right in the feels so goodnight im going to bed
....
but i loved it
Katz would have won the fight in the show
What is the show or movie called?
Shadow and Bone, a Netflix tv series
You shoul watch it, i really loved the show
You should also read the books. Six of Crows is my favorite series! By far!
@@grishacrows6235 I’m going to start watching it today!!
Where did you get such good quality footage?! Asking for editing purposes 😅
I downloaded the episodes from logolesslife.wixsite.com
Who is beating up Kaz in the beginning I never figured that out? Like who was that man with the beard
It's Pekka Rollins, the leader of another gang and his biggest enemy
@@captnswilson thank you so much!!
Do you think we will get a flashback that explains kaz backstory?
i think it'd be the best way to represent it, given in the books it was pretty much explained with his inner thoughts, i hope they do give us a flashback
Maybe in the next season or two.
Wich Books should I read first? The Grisha Trilogy or Six of crows? Need some help 😅
The Grisha Trilogy is the first in chronological order so you should start from it if you want to understand every little detail. But to be honest, I read Six of Crows & Crooked Kingdom first, then the Grisha Trilogy and then once again the Crows Duology before the show 😂
@@captnswilson Okay thanks, then I'll start the trilogy to understand every detail... but I'm so excited to read Six of Crows, I've heard this duology should be very good :)
@@mila7038It is! And it's definitely better than the trilogy, too!
Guys the show is absolutely great so i was planning on reading but what do I read first?!
Yes please suggest the order of the books, anyone?
The chronological order would be to read shadow and bone trilogy first then Six of Crows duology. BUT if you’ve fallen in love with the Crows: Read the Six of Crows duology. Spoilers for the show’s future come up in Crooked Kingdom (2nd book in the duology) so read with caution if you read the pair first!
wait- how is it possible that kaz met the darkling? I'm reading the books and six of crows is setted after his death so- can anyone explain it to me please?
They merged the stories
