Question, why do you have 2 watches??
Can you put a link to the Amazon UK store too? I've seen others do it so hopefully be worthwhile for you. Great video.
Merry Christmas to you and the family.
I am also seeing some videos that you can run these off used motor oil just fine. People are even running it unfiltered, but I would likely filter it through an old pair of jeans I have seen people do for running it in their trucks when cut 50/50 with fresh fuel.
Used oil we just use a basic filter then drop in a little gas for a biodiesel viscosity and higher , cleaner burn. Dirtier the fuel more often you break it down, open it all up and give a good clean.
only one soldering iron that sounds like a weak link in the proho system remember two is one and one is none
Man your whole demeanor is just so wholesome sometimes, like when you showed us the fuse and said "dont laugh some guys were never shown or learned this", as well as "proho is not good at a few things like some maths and electronic sort of things", and I truly felt that in my soul and was able to even laugh at myself a bit when I'm typically pretty embarassed and ashamed about stuff like that. I guess I sort of was raised by a single mother now that I think of it because my abusive alcoholic father was always working but my mom taught me more than he ever did. Shes gone now (passed in '18 when my firstborn was 6 months old) but at least there's channels like yours that can help teach young men like myself and many others I'm sure who are also alone in this world.
Thank you Abe, I'm proud of you,
Shoot I'm proud of you too
Same here. Thanks for sharing.
I'm very proud of you, and remember, you are never alone. God is with you! Always.
@dragonslayer7587 thank you and everyone else here for sharing such kindness with me. Yes God is good and God is great, I have also been working toward reconnecting with God and praying and speaking to him more. I have been lost for so long and I don't want to feel that way anymore.
As a spinal injury survivor with a long time mentally ill father and no other family.. I really appreciate being in your shop with you❤✝️
I had mine during the texas winter storm afew years back we didn't have power for 2 days it kept our 800 sq ft living area above 54 degrees at High. The diesel tank lasted about 8 hours for us. Ive only used it 2 times total but that single time it proved to be worth more than its money.
Oh nice. Exactly the sort of info i was looking for, thank you.
you can run these on waste or veg oil if you rig up a second tank and fuel selector. You have to get it up to temp on diesel or kerosene. Then shut it down on the same. Ive been using one in a small shed on my property. it works great to quickly get the space warmed up while i get a fire going. Plus just keeping some heat going to keep my water storage from freezing.
Nicely done jack! Cody, keep the old school vids coming I think most of us OGs love it
I love these old school vids.
Cody, I’ve been watching you for a very long time. Im 27 now. The amount of information you have provided me, invaluable. Thank you so much.
I use these in Oregon to heat my greenhouses in winter full of cactus.. currently I’m running four them. We run them Heavy, when you run them hard they have to be cleaned and rebuilt. They are easy to rebuild.
Great video! I just installed one of these in my small shop. I run the unit outside with a dryer duct hose into the shop. I've been running it a few hours every day and haven't even went through a full tank yet. One of my best purchases of Amazon so far.
My wife has been going through 2 years of chronic undiagnosed pain and therefore subsequently i have had 2 years of pain watching my wife suffer while being unable to find the right treatment for her condition. Wranglerstar and his families videos have given my wife and I distraction & peace of mind and soul through many hard days and sleepless nights.
Thankyou Cody, my goal is to give my wife the homesteading life
Mortana, I"m sorry you are having to go through this trial, We appreciate the kind words,
I'm so sorry for the pain you are both suffering. That must be terrible. Glad Cody's videos can distract...MrsW
Merry Christmas friend.
I saw somebody run the exhaust through an oil radiator. This seemed to be helping catch the “waste” heat. I enjoy your videos and would like to see you do this with your personal touch!
As you can tell I’ve been looking into using one in my garage! So I was excited to see you upload this during this time! 🙃
I’ve had one for 2 years. I converted mine to operate off Milwaukee 18v tool batteries. When I’m on job sites it is completely self contained. Works fantastic. I got a large sunroom I built last couple weeks up to 32c degrees inside.
Great idea. I’m going to look into this battery method.
You do need to do a few things to make it work. First I had to drop voltage from 18v to 12v with a 24->12 converter then cause you don’t want the heater to kill your lipo batteries I installed a little voltage thing that when the voltage drops to a preset level I have it turn the fuel pump off and when that happens the heater goes into shut down/cool down mode. This way protects the heater and batteries.
That’s awesome! How long does one battery last and how many amp hours are they?
@sw5334 you should do a video on that procedure. I would watch it.
@@paulyagoda142I thought of it as quite a few people have asked, but I’ve never made a video or posted to CZcams. Wouldn’t even know where to start.
I wasn't looking for a heater...but I clicked the link and hit the $20 off coupon running now. I see how this could be a life saver . Thanks for all you do.
If you get into the small Anderson connectors I highly recommend buying the proper crimp tool for them.
Ive been using one to heat a 3 car attached garage working on peojects in Minnesota. Works great! Have it vented outside and will keep the garage around 60-65 when the temps are below freezing.
Excellent video as always. Reminded me of the diesel heater experiment videos I've been making for years: my favorite being a waste heat thermal recovery on the exhaust using an old large cast iron steam heating radiator. By the time the exhaust passes through the radiator and to the outside it has dumped almost all its heat and is just warm steam laden air basically. Works a treat, also with generators as well-silences their exhaust as well as a side benefit. You can cook food and heat water on the radiator near where the exhaust from the diesel heater enters, it can get 400°f. Also it's a heat battery due to its large mass, and retains value as scrap, although i'm on winter #3 of heating my garage with a diesel heater hooked to a steam radiator with zero issues over thousands of hours of operation.
I'm currently in the midst of setting up one of these units. I encountered a minor issue with my portable battery, which has a 10-amp power protection feature that activates during startup, as the unit seems to draw slightly more than 10 amps initially. To resolve this, I've switched to using an AC to DC converter connected to a backup battery for power. As an alternative, I'm considering the use of an affordable AGM battery connected to a charger for portability. It's also important to note that these units are sensitive to power interruptions and can be damaged if they lose power abruptly without a proper shutdown. To help with the transfer of diesel into these tanks, I've bought a battery-operated pump that screws into the lid of my gas can.
I’ve enjoyed one of these awhile. It doesn’t quickly heat a very small space, but it is fun and nice.
Been running one of these in my shop for a couple years. Flawless so far.
That fuse was getting the best of those soft, west coast hands! Great content as always! God bless.
Cody:
If/when you do a followup, don't forget to mention the importance of maintenance.
People I know with these swear by them but do say you have to clean them extremely regularly to prevent soot buildup in the chamber and exhaust line that can lead to operation or ventilation failure (so when they're camping they check/clean the exhaust line daily for obstructions.)
People who are used to propane, kerosene, or white gas heaters might not really understand how...less clean...burning diesel can be.
And also that you should have a Carbon Monoxide alarm in any space you have one of these installed. Just in case. My friend has a diesel heater installed in his boat, and we have a detector in every cabin. Always better safe than sorry.
Great point on the maintenance.
@@Lemonade1947exactly, if you end up with a carbon monoxide leak while you’re sleeping in an enclosed space you just don’t wake up. No smell, no symptoms that will wake you up.
Heck yeah love love the camera angles ! Haha really enjoyed videos you made about the Amazon hatchet ! Now I just need to do the stuff to it that you said in the other video !
The universe always seems to provide when needed. I spent the last few days watching videos on these for my small shop office. I was really curious about this cheaper little unit. Thanks for the video!
Wonderful!
What I picked up from the endless videos: Always perform the shutdown sequence, it pulls 15 amps just for the first minute while heating the glow plug, and the 8kw make the same energy as the 5kw (Chinese marketing magic).
Also some say there are hidden high efficiency features in hidden menus.
Ordered one just a couple of days ago also
I agree that snap-on boxes are great, however. I've had my Milwaukee box in a machine shop for 4 years, moved it in box trucks, trailers, pickup trucks, and lifted it it to a second level with a forklift. It looks as good as new. Of course its important to take care of it
Pro-Tip
I use my jump pack to start one of these 12v diesel heaters to warm my garage. I piggy back a 12v battery charger in parallel to keep jump pack from being completely discharged.
It does consume a reasonable amount of amperage of on overnight..
Living in Iowa a Snap-on box makes sense. They are made right here in Iowa so I see it im supporting local jobs
Love this channel this was exactly the review I was looking for
My buddy got rid of the kerosene heater in the shop and got one of these. It's a small workshop where we meet for fellowship. Now I don't stink and have a headache when I get home. Works great and I'm in the far North where below zero is common. Great video.
I'm 62 years old and have spent my life in the electrical and mechanical trades. I don't think I've ever seen a diesel heater like the one in the video. While the video was playing, I went to Amazon and put one in my shopping cart. Second thing I learned, is the "Anderson" connector. I've seen them, used them, but never knew the proper name for them. That's why I watch videos like yours. You can still teach old dogs new things. Thanks!
Love the Chanel and the content!! Thank you for keeping it real
I have been hoping and waiting for this video!
I use one almost the same understeer Vevor brand to heat my 5x8 cargo conversion trailer. Keeps me more than warm at deer camp and ice fishing in Michigan.
very impressive glad to hear jack and his team did well. God Bless! We need bight young mind going forward.
U the man dude! Taught me so much to consider that j never thought of before watching some of your videos
I never knew about fuse testing with the probe. Thanks for taking the time to go over stuff that is simple to you, but stuff some of us have just never been exposed to.
Thanks for doing a video on one of these heaters Been wanting the look into One
I'll be sure to catch your second video
I just saw Joe from Joe and Zach Survival/Northern Seclusion installed that exact one in their tent in northern Minnesota, he said it actually worked really well so far. It warmed the whole back of the tent where the wood stove doesn't really do to well. Interested to see how it does for your tent. Might suggest it to my bro-in-law in NH for his garage/shop. His heater doesn't do too well in there.
I am so glad we’re going back to Amazon reviews!
A small spring type deal with the fuel line through it, the ID of spring sleeve almost the same as OD of fuel line would stop it kinking. And keep the fresh air intake, inside so you get more heat rather than introducing frigid air. Folks also run the exhaust through a heat exchanger.
The Milwaukee 12v soldering iron is a game changer! I highly recommend adding that to your electrical kit!
The edit of you watching the 6 videos was hilarious! Thank you.
I’ve used one for 2 winters now in one of my buildings and have been very pleased with it. Heats up pretty quick and doesn’t use much fuel.
Ověniji many things about you but your sense of humor or the way you can deliberately provoke people (two watches on one hand) is great.....More people like you and your family.
Installed one of these in a camper van. They produce an incredible amount of heat. Interested to see how it does with a larger space.
It doesn't do great. I have a 6x5x2 meter workshop, and it raises the temperature by 8-10c, but I still have to keep the coat on. Probably better windows, better insulation would improve things a bit.
@@DumitruUrsuwhat are these meters and Cs you speak of?
@@mattshaffer5935I think a meter is one of them rocks falling from space
@@chasebarragar6961is the C - C u next Tuesday?
@@mattshaffer5935 oh, sorry - the space is 3.5x3x1.5 Lorde, and the temperature increase is from water freezing to a frog's butthole at night.
I love seeing how you set your boxes up
Much love brother. I stay warm in my sprinter van with me just like it. Love it. Great backup for the wood stove.
I might have to get one of those. Seems rather quiet, too. Thanks Cody. Great video.
in truth here for the cat chilling near the fire. also day dreaming of having a shop like this one day.
Excellent video - very clear explanations. Thanks
Don’t use a charger. You need a battery always. So if you loose power it can do shutdown sequence. Very very important!!
Use a small battery and a trickle charger
Indeed if not the mainboard gonna toast like nothing and error code on next start up like mine :)
Great video ! Good to have you back. Battery charger usually senses voltage on the battery. Without it I don’t think these smart chargers will turn on.
I learned that from CZcams Andrew Camarata 👊🏻
Some smart chargers (i believe that one Cody used has this option!) Can be switched to a constant output in order to run 12v things for testing. He just needed to turn his unit off and then hold the button down and it would be able to switch to a repair mode or a constant mode.
Love your content! I’m going to grab one or two of these.
These are the videos I love by you Cody :)
Cool! I just bought a similar unit, came in on Saturday.
Love this video. Very informative.
This video is actually helpful thanks alot
Awesome video content Cody. Thanks for the tip.
I've had one for 4 years, no issues, no regrets.
Been thinking about one of these for my garage, Merry Christmas.
Excellent breakdown and explanation.
This video was an absolute masterpiece!
I'm actually using one in my renovated, full renovation 1979 Corsair camper, I actually extended the tank with PVC so I can fill up outside.
I got mine from vevor.
Love your work! Autistic tasmanian diy guy and I'm so stoked for your kid in the debate! Putting a diesel heater in a van and your vid was the first and last good one! Cheers appreciate it 👍💫
I Just got one like it. So happy to see your video thanks
not sure if someone pointed it out or not yet but for the 12 volt supply on those noco charges you need to hold down the button for 3 seconds without the clamps connected. it should go into 12 V supply mode, if you have it on a battery and hold for 3 seconds it will go into 12v repair mode. hope this helps.
Says right on it to hold, not sure how he missed that
I use this setup in my roof tent up in the pnw, a tank lasts all weekend, works great.
That was an awesome review !!
Holy cow! I love this guy!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You can definitely use those large plastic connector heads for the battery charger male and female on a forklift. I know it works on a Toyota forklift and Hyster40. Electric forklifts are good for indoor use.
I have a webasto at my van and is wonderful for these winter mornings
Thanks for the review very insightful
I just learned about these. Have one in my Amazon cart for a greenhouse we are building.
Snap on boxes are awesome ! I also got mine on the secondary market….but HF Home Depot. All got decent boxes for the price. You do you man get a box like real men
I like the units where you can place the heater , fuel tank , and especially that nuisance ticking of the pump anywhere. Pump in a sound proof box, larger tank 6 ft away , heater wherever ya want.
Bureck makes a programmable thermostat that will shut the heater off and turn it back on instead of just idling. You have to have the right key fob for it to work which I think you do. I got one last week.
Thanks for making the video. Have been dabbling at the idea of picking up an all-in-one diesel heater myself.
I might suggest you take a look at Lista or Vidmar toolboxes before declaring a gold standard. Used heavily by the machinist industry and can be found for a reasonable price as they don’t carry the snapon name.
The exhaust out outs the most heat, dont over wrap it, but do duct theexhust out side but longer the exhaust pipe the more heat you can reap
Had one in the lobster boat last year, and in a -40 snow/ice storm, the boats wheel house was warm and clear of ice an snow, and it got about 28 hours that day, an have had it last nearly 48 hours in just under 30f
15:13 just add diesel and turn up the heat, and let er eat the diesel, it self primes
I've seen those before but not a complete set up to run video. That looks to be a good back up heater.
Can't wait to see the followup.
Appreciate this video, that being said the time has come for another axe video.
I have one and think it works good for what it does, I also put a copper heater core with a fan on the exhaust side to utilize that heat before it goes through the wall
My budget one came with the basic 2 button controller, paid £94 for it here in the UK. Heating my single garage/workshop fine,....I think that Cody will need more than one for the size of his.
I just bought one a month ago... I love mine
Looks very cool. Only con is the having to vent the exhaust. Put an amp meter on the neg, or pos battery cable so we can see how much current it draws.
I got a cheap one of these off ebay years ago for inside my truck. I'd go on multi day hunting trips camping in the back and never once had an issue with the thing. Would cook you out of the truck in any temp. Highly recommend them
Is it safe for a tent?
@@armygreenfj3924 if you have the thing exhausting outside of the tent I wouldn't see why not. I've seen plenty of people set the entire unit outside of a tent and use the ducting that comes with them to pipe the heat inside the tent.
@@streetpunk99 thanks
I saw another video by someone using, I think the same one, set up in his garage, he had it set up mounted on the wall and venting outside, I'll have to see if I can find that one again.
Great video & info, thank you. 👍🏼
♦️MERRY CHRISTMAS!!♦️
Great video! I've been on the hunt for one for my overland setup that wont break the bank. I wouldn't use it enough to spend big money on it.
Great video, I run them 24hours a day all winter diesel fuel has a waxy substance in it and it slows down the fuel pump so the fix for this is diesel kleen octane booster I took a heater apart I been running all winter and it was perfectly clean, last winter was a challenge it got dirty in burning chamber, fuel injector cleaner works pretty good but not like diesel kleen,Have a great day.
These are the videos I miss. The old wranglerstar reviews!!!
Iv been running two of these for the last 4 years one to heat my live aborb boat and one on a small workshop they have been faultless apart from one broken thermostat that was replaced at a cost of £1.50 about $1.80 one good tip if you run on low heat turn it up to full for 10 minutes before shut down to prevent them choking up with soot
That darker blue snap on tool box is sweet 🤙🏽 marketplace is the only reason I have Facebook 😂 I’ve bought dozens of broken atvs and dirt bikes and fixed them. I’ve wondered about these diesel heaters though, good video on it.
Tip jerry cans on their side, cap side up, and they don't glug.
Use one in my shop office for the last three winters. 10 hours aday for 6 months..solid little unit.
Just to clarify something. A fuse protects the device. A breaker protects the wiring. Fuses are not meant to protect wiring
Well done Jack!
I have been running 3 of the vevor heaters for the last 4 years, in Wisconsin so it gets cold. between my shop trailer and my bus/rv and they work well. And for the cheeper price you can even have a backup in case one does die. But I have not had any due in the last 4 years
Great heaters. I own 2, one heats my work trailer (7x14 cargo trailer) and one I use for camping to heat my tent here in the pnw. The lowest temp I've camper in was 2°, and keeps the tent above 65 without issue, most of the time I've got to keep a window open. The control panel is also the thermostat, so if you run it via temperature, it will cycle the heater up and down to keep temp as close as possible to what you have it set at. You got the best controller available on the Chinese heaters. If you hit OK, it should show the temp you have it set to (unfortunately it's in the terrible celcius) if they doesn't do it, click and hold the hear icon and should bring it up. If you plan on keeping it, I'd suggest looking into the afterburner setup for them. It's a guy in Australia that makes a better controller for it, and can control it via your phone and run it much more efficiently. I've got over 1000 hours on each of mine and have had no issues. Most people who have issues with them clogging with soot just shut them off and and unplug them, and don't let them run the full shut down sequence. Looking forward to the next video on your thoughts of the heater.
Also, they pull very little power when running, but can pull up to 15amps when starting getting the glow plug up to temp. Most people have issues with undersized wiring and using battery packs that can't put out 15 amps.
I have one and I wanted to put a 90 at the bottom for the exhaust, well that cause an issue. They don't make the stand talk enough for the supplied exhaust line.
I wanted too then wrap in exhaust tape as an added safety. Thanks
Would you mind sharing your tent setup and how you use it? I’m thinking I might try one for a wall tent.
Very interesting heater. Thanks for the review.
With all the great things in your shop how are you missing the old school VP Racing fuel jugs? With a hose and vent to easily fill anything without a funnel.
I get mine in a couple days. What a coincidence I find this video.
