- The Volvo C70 convertible is hands down one of the best hardtop convertibles for a family of four. At least to my knowledge it is! The Volvo C70 in this video has just rolled over to 60,000 miles. It's a 2009 with a T5 engine, and is a great all around hardtop convertible that could easily be used as a daily driver.

Do you know of any other hardtop convertibles that seat at least 4 people?
VW EOS
Toyota Solara soft top convertible fit 4 adults
There is a bunch of them (Ford Focus CC, VW EOS, Renault Megane CC), but the C70 is the most spacious out there that's why we bought it too :-)
@@pace_of_mind Exactly! I'd love a Lexus SC430, but the "backseat" is a complete joke. The C70 is by far the most spacious of the lot.
Nope, mate, it's 2nd row is only for kids
I LOVE my Volvo C70. Same year as your mom’s. I’ve had it over ten years and it still drives as smoothly as ever. Approaching 150k miles, and I pray it lasts well past 300k! We shall see! I enjoyed this video. Thank you for posting it.
I was thinking about buying a 2009 C70 with 112,000 miles should I do it?
I drove a C70 & LOVED it. I literally grieved having to get rid of it, cried for 2 weeks. I have a bad back and couldn't twist in my seat to look back. Thankfully, this was around the time cars were being equipped with backup cameras and sensors to make driving safer
The C70 is a lot of car for little money. What a superb T5 engine it is.
In depth and entertaining. Love it.
Are you joking? Where im from 200.000 miles is what you buy a used one in excellent condition at. These cars, properly maintained will run for absolutly forever.
Alot of them circle the speedo here as taxis (drivetrain that is)
My wife’s 2012 has 177k. Just serviced at the dealer and it still passed inspection perfectly.
I love the face-lift C70! I was looking for a black or teal one for a year and a half! Gave up though, started looking at the Lexus SC430's but gave up on that too.
Hey, i just bought one last weekend
Very relaxed car! Enjoyed it
Good choice!
Oh ma God that is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥I need to get that. I have a 2013 Volvo s60 t5 and it is awesome so I know that’s a good car right there
This T5 engine can run forever.
She's a beauty
Yeah, she kept it clean. Been garaged her whole life and low mileage.
i have had my daily driver 2008 Volvo C70 for 11 years (now 131k miles on odo) , it was my dream car and still is, if you take care of this it will last forever. I never had any issues. I put a cold air intake and exhaust on it and got pretty good quickness!!
Unfortunately my mother just crashed hers. It still runs but is damaged and leaking "a red fluid" Could be transmission fluid or power steering I don't know since I'm not there to check. Shame! ~55K miles on that thing too.
I just picked up a 2006 c70 with even less miles on it than your moms! its mint, one owner car,, i was at first just going to sell it and double my money, but now i may keep it after really looking at it, and hearing that sound system,, lol
Nice! Yeah man that sound system is CRAZY LOL. Back in the day to get the same sound would've required a nice fosgate amp with 2 12's.
@@ToolDeals Hey, can i ask you,, does your mom's c70 have it's headlights dim out whenever the steering wheel is turned while in park? I am wondering if thats normal for these cars...
@@mr.t8123 nah, not that I know of. But I've never tried it. Unfortunately I'm 1300 miles away from it to try it.
@@ToolDeals thanks for the reply and for the great review video!
Great review, my dream convertible is a LS400 hardtop. If only Lexus had made it.
Okay, I didn't think I was in the market for another car. I love this. We'll see what's out there since prices for everything have gone crazy. I read down in your comments and saw your mom may want to sell it for three grand? I'm really interested if it's still available. I'm a Marylander so, please let me know. STAY ENCOURAGED.
That's what she said! If I don't get the SC430 by then, I'll buy it though, mainly because I can fit my kids back there and they love the convertible. She sold her 67 completely restored and custom VW Beetle for $4K a couple years ago. I told her at that price just keep it! She could've gotten 10 for it easy. She's no salesperson that's for sure LOL.
My only issue is the inside front and back liner dropped this week. Any suggestions from those who own one?
This model is just in a class of a Carrera convertible no doubt🔝
They're still fairly cheap too! Just don't look for one with over 130K on it. Not without an extreme inspection.
@@ToolDeals found one with 128k miles, owner says the engine runs strong but the top doesn't work. Good price too, thinking about buying it.
@@OldSchoolNoe did you fix that top yet?
@@Tthemagicman Nah, never bought the vehicle.
own a 2003 XC70 same engine 315,000 miles original engine & turbo before being totaled, i'm confident this engine can go 400,000 + miles if properly maintained.
Might cop me this
They're nice!
is it posible to use this car in winter? I'm turning 18 and i really like this car, but you know when you are 18, you want to use it all the time, and does it need to be garaged?
You can use it just fine! It's front wheel drive, just make sure you're careful out there and you have good tires!
Man, you said mom dukes wanted 3 grand for it?? And im in Bowie too?!?! This is an awesome car, and I've been looking myself at convertibles. I too have a family so I wanted something that was fuel efficient, fun, could fit 4, and had great looking design. I came up with the maserati granturismo convertible, the Toyota Solara convertible, and this. The Solara would be a better alternative due to Toyota reliability but the soft top makes me hesitant. The maserati has a soft top as well no turbo or supercharger to really worry about, but the build quality and reliability makes me want to pass. This really is the only thing that checks all the boxes. 2.5 l turbo, I like the style before the redesign as well, and I plan on replacing my current comuter daily ,a 2003 lexus ES 300, with this. Man seriously if moms wants to part with it. Let me know.
*Yeah I had a 2013 Tundra loved it but she was thirsty even driving normally. Now I want this car. How many miles you got on it now and How Much do you want for it?*
Yeah, that Tundra is a thirsty beast! Reliable as ever though so that's the trade-off in my mind. Well lets see, how many miles were on it in the video? 55K? It should be about... 56K on it now, LOL. IF that. It's starting to leak now though due to it sitting most of the time.
It's not for sale yet, I think if it does go on sale I'm going to convince her to "sell" it to me, LOL.
@@ToolDeals yeah the video said 60k and I figured it would be sold by know and you bought I. I'm still looking and I found one I really like but the guys is asking $20,000 CDN that's just over $15,000 US FUNDS. It has about the same mileage as your mom's car but his is a 2011 and a beautiful RED. Be well.
@@truckn yeah those face lifts are so beautiful! That's the year I'd prefer but I'd be a little patient. Car prices have been coming down a bit lately.
Are these cars reliable?
I have the same BBS
Nice! I've never seen them on any other one. Definitely a factory option though.
Hey! Avid Volvo enthusiast here! Not sure if this is for sale or not but I have been looking at C70s for about a year now. This one is gorgeous! Do you have a contact number for more information?
Great voice for commercials
Thanks! When I worked at NIH 20 years ago my boss told me he'd better hear me on the radio one day, lol. Used to call me "Radio".
@@ToolDeals That’s hilarious. It makes sense though man. Best of luck to you.
What is maintenance like?
Very basic, but changing the transmission fluid is tricky and I suspect a lot of places won't do it correctly, or at all. Best to do it yourself or take it to someone you REALLY trust. But just oil changes and filters, spark plugs. Plugs can get seized but with patience they come out. It's a beast changing the cabin air filter. You have to remove the accelerator pedal... which you come to find out is electronic and really isn't connected to anything, which is scary. it can literally malfunction and just have you speeding along. But overall, it's not bad. It's only 60K miles on hers though so, I can't really comment on longevity. The serpentine belt and timing belt will need to be changed at some point and it's on the side of the motor. Not sure if the motor needs to be lifted out or what for that. But I'd imagine you'd go in through the fender and underneath the car.
@@ToolDeals Thanks for a detailed reply...they look lovely for sure
Volkswagen Eos is the only other comparable 4 seat hardtop convertible, BUT its size makes it look very feminine when the tops up.
Indeed! Looks like a car for a teenage girl, lol.
By the way 🤔// the X5 cylinder engine s in S60/S80/V70/C70 go way more Than you mentioned / att least 500 - 600 thousand Kilometers easy..my S60 ha done 300 t / originale engine No issues.WSE. its not a Vaz lada 🤪🚐💨💨🤣
I'd love to believe that Stefan, but I haven't seen ONE C70 with more than 200,000 miles on it. Not a single one and I was shopping that car for almost a year. 2007-2013 years. That could be the difference. Could also be the car itself. I'd still love to get one. My kids had a ball in my mother's car.
@@ToolDeals They last a long time with regular maintenance and fluid changes. Most 3rd, 4th, 5th owner high mileage vehicles are not being cared for properly. The key to reliability in older Volvos is finding a seller who is old and boring and keeps a maintenance log and who probably shops at Costco
Are these reliable cars or tend yo be problematic?
Sold I wanted miami fl
Of my five Volvos this C70 was by far the worst. Broken door handles, headliners constantly falling, wheels made of soft cheese (bent or broke 3), and roof drains that flooded the trunk, killing the roof’s hydraulic pump. Gone but not forgotten.
They almost always have extremely low miles too. Old man weekend cars
Yep! Gotta avoid the ones with high miles. They don't last as long as Toyota convertibles, but still nice!
SHOULDVE cleaned her car out 1st! Mom is going to get you 😂. This C70 has one of the most desirable color(exterior/interior) combinations. Pearl/diamond white exteriors are the most seek out colors on a luxury car, how is white feminine?😂 stop it man. BUT I like your tutorial…
This is a great low mileage convertible that I’ll take right now! I actually looked for a 2011 for the teen driver because of the hardtop and safety features.
Luv the Bentley flying spur ummmmm aka Phaeton… A clean Phaeton is one of the best values on the road!!!!
Thanks man! Yeah, she had to go out of state to get this color combination. I think it was only like 3 on the east coast when she got it. I also searched and searched for a 2011-13 but couldn't find a good one at a good price. Since then I've moved on to heavily consider the Lexus SC430, but... no back seats! Thanks for the comment!
@@ToolDeals The Lexus SC430 & IS C are the best and the Infiniti G37 is a wonderful convertible alternative too!
Your mom is meeeeee! Hahahah
T5s engines are indestructible. You Americans don't know how to take care of cars I am afraid. 😛
Nothing feminine about diamond white metallic they put it on the Escalade’s and navigators
