Dr. Campbell, I want to correct one thing you said in here just so future viewers/readers aren't basing their understanding on outdated information. The process you are discussing is that which relates to the traditional teaching and understanding of the Sterling Principle. In 2010 the Sterling Principle was revised as it was discovered that this excess fluid which leaves the arteriole region of the blood capillaries due to hydrostatic pressures, is actually NOT at all reabsorbed in the Venule region. This is due to the understanding that the Glycocalyx layer disrupts the oncotic pressure gradient upon reabsorption. The lymphatic system is 100% responsible for the transportation and processing of the excess fluid that filtered into the interstitial space. I definitely don't mean to undermine you as you have far more knowledge than me, however, this needs to be understood so that we are providing adequate methods of treatment to patients.
Glycocalyx sorrounds the cells.There are pores between the cells.The fluid that escapes back to the venules cannot be stopped by glycocalyx.It will diffuse through the pores towards its concentration gradient with oncotic pressure acting on it.But because of equilibrium, lymph vessels drain the excess.So you can't say that fluid doesn't get back to the venules at the venules end at all. My thoughts

Thank you so much! I'm suffering from lyphoedema and this started after possibly having a thyroid storm that 3 diff hospitals failed to diagnose. I was referred to a endocrinologist by my heart doctor who I seen bc of persistent chest pain and he actually checked my TSH and unlike my doctor of 6-7 years who I repeatedly told her prior to this to check my thyroid bc I had extreme fatigue, muscle weakness, my eyes get blood shot and I will get a fever of 99-100 degrees w/ a normal WBC count. Not sure if the eyes and fever are related to my thyroid issues but the fatigue, weight gain, and muscle weakness were due to my thyroid issue but she wouldn't send me to a specialist and didn't ever treat my condition. During the storm my heart would start to race while at rest; it's been 6 months and I'm still suffering from the lymphoedema. There has not been any doctor that has been able to help or explain anything to do with the lymphatic system. I had to figure out what it was myself by reading medical journals on NIH which I ave done prior to this bc I have issues with my back. But this was a whole new issue that is not very well understood by doctors. Thank you for explaining this so well. I take vitamin C every day which has helped along with using Hibiclens since having MRSA and I see why cellulitis would be an issue if you have lymphoedema. By using this with my normal soap has prevented any skin infections luckily. Hopefully this info helps bc you did the best I've heard explaining this issue.

I have had several health challenges like asthma, hypoglycemia pancreatic tumor and few others due to excessive consumption of sugar and the entire body tissue of my left side painful to touch after years of LF dieting. when I had surgery to remove the tumor in my pancreas my gall bladder was removed as well, thus my reason for the LF diet. No, l have no edema, just the pocket of fluid under my left knee and the left side of my body a few millimeters bigger.
This is great information thank you. I believe I understand how my lymph nodes are now affected from my vaccination injury. It shows on my scans that foreign material is trapped in my lymph nodes and now I think I understand why my system is clogged and I'm experiencing serious side effects. I have some further questions and hope you can respond to this comment with some ideas for questions and tests I can request of my medical practitioner.

Inflammation has to be correlated with the triggers circulating in the system. There has to be the presence of reactants causing to the subsequent responses
