The only problem I have with Buc-ee's is that if you're on a road trip and just want to make a quick stop, hit the bathroom, grab some drinks and fill up it takes way too long. Just dealing with the traffic and crowds eats up time that you don't lose at smaller places. On the other hand, we live near one and sometimes I just stop by to get a sandwich and shop a little if I'm not trying to get anywhere. They always have some interesting snacks and food.

Buc-ees was a weird coincidence I stumbled upon at 2 a.m. on a long drive to Florida. While my mom was driving, I used gas buddies to locate the cheapest gas and it was 10-20 cents cheaper than everything around it. Because of previous adventures, we joked that it was probably some backwater mom and pop shop that only did cash. We kept our hopes low and approached cautiously. Did not expect to see a massive storefront surrounded by hundreds of pumps. Even at those dead hours, they had a relatively good flow of customers. It was amazing.

Stories that I’ve heard from people that have worked there it actually isn’t as great as many think, starting with the fact that employees get only one 5 minute break during a shift or as they call it a “5 minute lunch” in which they can’t even sit or use their phone while on fucking break! On break! And not just that when employees clock out they have to wait until they leave the premises completely to use their phones and they prohibit tattoos and colored hair which surprises me considering that fact that they are a gas station convenience store and based on the type merchandise they sell and demographic they appeal to it surprises me they have these kind of rules and policies for employees which i think is outdated and stupid and from what I’ve heard they overall treat employees like shit, i even heard a story about them firing an employee for smoking in his car ON HIS DAY OFF! HIS DAY OFF!!!! You don’t even need to be on the clock or on shift to get fired for doing non work related things on your DAY OFF!!! If you drive to the premises and they use the $15/$17 or $18 the hour pay as an excuse to treat people in such way, funny how they pull the $15 excuse like they are the only place that pays that salary when there are a thousand other places that pay the same who have the same benefits idk why they think they are special or think they can fool people and worst of all they get away with breaking so many employment laws so i would do research and maybe look for videos made by former employees sharing their experiences and think it through before making a decision that could possibly leave one with Job PTSD. And I forgot to mention no break rooms either. They are a prison

If they ever decide to put some stations in the west along I-10 they’d make some good money, especially in Phoenix as the truck stop/gas stations down there are constantly full of semi trucks. A station for only passenger vehicles is definitely something Phoenix needs.

Also any gas station convenience store has idiots leaving their cars at the pumps usually during the busiest times of the day. Not hating it, but that's what happens. As a former trucker, I agree with Buc-ees trucker ban...
Truckers are gross, and don't clean up after themselves. They ruin pretty much every rest stop they are allowed in. They just dump their trash on the ground and piss all over the parking lot. And don't get me started on how they treat rest rooms...

My first Buc-ee's experience was in GA at the Warner Robins location. It definitely was a positive experience. Now everytime I travel I try to locate one. My most recent travels landed me at the Leeds, AL location.
IMO though, the Warner Robins location would be a good "test/experiment" for them to open a Truck Driver friendly station with diesel fuel pumps only, large showers and restroom, great food options, rest areas, large car/truck washes, etc. I think it would be a hit. Just have to get the logistical layout figured out.

Its a great place. All of them are. Great food. Great beef jerky. Tons of fountain drink choices. They pay their employees very well. Cleanest bathrooms around. Big variety of gifts. I have a bbq pit from there. Great selection of cast iron. You can get a 20 lb bag of ice for 99 cents. Other stores are selling that for 6 or 7 dollars a bag. Did i mention fudge? Amazing fudge.

Just a side note, but there is ONE location that actually allows (and has diesel pumps for) 18 wheelers - in Eagle Lake, TX. The store itself is relatively small but does have a handful of pumps for 18 wheelers. For the most part, it's just as clean and well run as the rest of them.

I'm definitely inclined to believe they don't want to allow truckers because too many truckers are pigs. It's be nice if they included truckers but fact is too many nasty truckers giving the good ones a bad name

Great that they pay and value their employees so highly. Attention: WalMart!
The insistence on clean and big restrooms is also very commendable. They are clearly customer friendly as well. Those are good touches. It is odd, however, that they don't accept truckers. With all their space, it should be easy to build a side lot for 18-wheelers.
