  • In the second part of my vlog from Saudi Arabia, I will take you on a journey along the Red Sea. I initiated this part of the journey in the city of Abha and continued north to Al Ula. During the trip, I partially relied on hitchhiking, primarily immersing myself in the local hospitable culture.
As mentioned before, the starting point of my journey was the mountainous city of Abha. In its vicinity lies the beautiful historical village of Rijal Almaa Heritage Village. I intended to stop at the highest mountain in Saudi Arabia, but the climb was thwarted by the fact that the area is a military zone. On the other hand, I cherish amazing experiences from hitchhiking. I even had an occasion where a gentleman allowed me to drive his car. Another highlight was the invitation to lunch by the local residents. With them, I also visited another intriguing place in Saudi Arabia, the Bees Tower Honey Refinery.
From Abha, I then headed towards the city of Baha using hitchhiking. Throughout the day, I hitchhiked a total of 15 cars and used a taxi three times. In total, I covered over 450 km in a day. However, the most interesting stop was the visit to the historical village, The Ain Ancient Village. This place was absolutely perfect and practically devoid of tourists.
The subsequent invitation from a friend named Mohammed was the perfect culmination of my current journey. I experienced incredible three days with him in the vicinity of Taif. While Taif itself is charming, I will fondly remember the unforgettable shared experiences and visits to his friends.
I then made a brief stop in Jeddah, but I continued straight through Medina to Al Ula. This place is also perfect, especially the historical city of Hegra and the associated exploration of the "graveyard," Hegra Archaeological Site. Near the city, there is an interesting glass concert hall, Maraya Concert Hall, and a rock shaped like an elephant, Jabal AlFil (Elephant Rock). For me, Al Ula was interesting also because, in an effort to save, I slept in the car. Renting a car almost proved fatal, as during the return, I had to wait a long time for the car rental to take over, and I would have missed the bus without further hitchhiking.
Afterwards, I returned to Medina. Medina itself is primarily a religious place and may not be as interesting for non-Muslims. However, the old mosques in the city center are beautiful, and I was captivated by the atmosphere of the city and all the pilgrims I had the opportunity to meet in Medina.
In conclusion, I returned to Jeddah, where I spent time with the locals again. I met a new friend, Ahmed, who took me on a trip to Al Wahbah Crater, for which I am very grateful, and overall, he made my visit to Jeddah much easier.
I believe you enjoyed my video from Saudi Arabia, and I would be pleased if we meet again for another video.
