as a general rule, you should ALWAYS pull the eeprom and read off board. Autel programmer not advanced enough to do in circuit but it does on some stuff but have to have 12v power hooked up to the xp400pro. Get a carprog for eeproms and motorola processors.

Real deep stuff, nice and informative video. Tanks. A bit way out of my knowledge today, to do. I'm not afraid doing on-bench programing etc, but get of the chip off not destroying them is bit more tricker as I see it (getting older eyes).
You do it so fast, and so reliable/professionall. Buyng stuff needed is not the biggest problem.
But/so, what was that yellow gunk used 18:30, before desoldering before the rossin?

it is actually just paint. You always want to either take a picture of the chip and its placement and orientation before you remove it and or start any work, or you can make a mark for yourself as to help when placing it back on the board. it will be a bad day when you mix up the orientation.

@@DTEAuto I'm more concerned blewing/burning it up taking too long to desolder. Or maybe being to quick and damage a track etc. But ruin a big legged component - gosh.
Getting it right back, I see as no problema. There are also small trainig curcuits, the are great to practice on.

What do you set your hot air station to?? So you don’t ruin the eeprom? I had to do one with harbor freight heat gun once it sucked all I had at the time laying around

The hot air I set to 400C with air speed around 6-7, and solder to 300C
