In this video we were called out to a job that became worse as the day went on. Teenagers running from the police lost control of the vehicle and crashed through this Pump House Destroying Absolutely Everything! Luckily after 4+ hour I was able to repair the entire system and get water running for the duplex/house. I hope you enjoy watching this long process in a shorter period of time!

The fact that you dropped what you were doing and went out there was great and the fact that you treated the owner fairly was even more impressive

I love the channel. It's so refreshing watching good men doing honest hard work not just for the business to make a profit, but more importantly for helping people that need it on one of their worst days. Losing the water supply is a major disruption for any household. Thank you for being there for your customers to fix this problem quickly and done right.
Many skills shown in this rebuild; ditch digger, electrician, rigger, fabricator, inspector and customer service. Job well done! Thanks for bringing us along.
Great repair, I appreciate the knowledge and craftsmanship you put into this. Add a 10x 10 ez up tent to your truck. Days like this it will be the best tool on your truck. 👍
I have to be honest and from the few videos that I have seen I know you would make an excellent surface water water treatment plant operator, when I see passion like you have I would hire you immediately because most ppl cant or not willing to go the extra mile to learn.
Thank you! That means alot.
I'm the 3rd Generation in the Family Business, it's all I've ever done and known. My father instilled every quality you see in me on my Videos (which I started CZcams just for fun). But comments like yours and others are a real boost. It's ironic in the last year I've had other drilling companies across the US reach out & want to hire me as a lead driller or manager ect. But I can't leave a company that has my last name on it. I can only show my passion and experience through my videos and hope it teaches others in a positive way. Thank you again! 😊

Tough Job for sure. Awesome that you were able to get out there
and get those people back on line. Your finished job looked very
Professional. Keep up the great job, guys.
Good deal, left it looking good. I feel you on not pouring concrete, I hate concrete.
This is a perfect example of why keeping a cheap $50 walmart canopy in the truck is a good idea. I use them all the time to cover where I'm welding when rain pops up. It isn't always practical, but it has saved me from many short days and wet work areas.
I keep a 8ft umbrella, mainly for the sun . But used it here til the rain get heavy!
@@h2omechanic A few weeks ago my dad put one on the log splitter and for some reason a lot of vacationers' cars stopped to look, maybe they thought it was some kind of drink stand attached to a tractor 😅
had him holding that pump while you put the camera down the well😂 his arms were burning lol
You are the great savior. Can't find someone to repair to an emergency is the norm these days. Hope this demonstrates to the viewers your devotion and Professionalism to the trade. Thanks for all you do.
I’m digging a well when the rain comes in, and stops my mind from wandering, where it will go!

A pleasure to see an honest man !
You are doing a great service! I had to fix my pump in rural New Mexico, and had to learn from scratch. I watch all of these I can, ...just in case I have future problems.
I really enjoy seeing you work and your comments. Thank you for your work.
What a nasty mess, I'm impressed that you were able to record while dealing with the mess you had. Good job
1500.00 job ? 👏
Well done my friend
I think between 3.5k and 4K minimum.
Our well casing is down just above the 1600' mark when it was drilled and the pump is set right now at about 880' down. It uses 1 1/2" steel pipe, so it was nice to see you guys be able to pull that out by hand for sure. Have to get the truck here to do that.
One word snatch-block, if you think you can't do it by hand it just means you don't have enough leverage
damnit man those texas water wells are WILDDDDLY deep
I don't know what you charged for this job, because you always go the second mile and give the best price that you can. It would probably cost around 1500 to 2000 if you were to charge full price. You do excellent work even when working under unknown and under unseen conditions. great job!!!
$3000 labor + materials and travel = $5000 @@Wontreplyeverdontbother
@@Wontreplyeverdontbotheri really doubt that for something like this where it's basically just piecing it back together where you already have most of the stuff, just wiping it clean and resting it for a few hours

I was amazed when you got the lid engaged on the primer can as quickly and effortlessly as you did. I always have to try at least three times. We’ll done!

Really great video. and YES, you do seem to have the best success at bringing the things you need... and it is always a learning curve, but GREAT job. Even at my age, I do remember doing a runner on a rather bad incident back in my teen years... Missed the pump house, but did jump a 3 foot deep and wide ditch in 3 foot tall grass. For one of us, that was the end of the chase... but I ate dinner at home that evening, ha ha ha.
Nice job and great customer service!
Thank you for sharing all the pro tips with us. Seems like a lot of maintenance and some repairs can be done by homeowners.
If your mechanically minded sure, most people have no business even messing with the cap on their well tho tbh.
I’d be cool to see more well drilling videos, but love your work I’ve learned a lot that I’ve been able to fix my well here in Florida
Same man, I'm 100% confident that with prior knowledge of plumbing and watching his vids that I could size and install a pump and plumb it. If someone turned me loose with the rig I'm about 85% sure I could get water. Dude is legit a WONDERFUL teacher!
Hensley's Well Drilling, you do great and very clean work!
Great content, honest work and a interesting channel.

This was an Epic EMERGENCY. LOL Our well house got Run over last night. Wow what a mess. You guy's did a grand job 👍✌
Great video. Get some flimsy cheap plastic caps from a big box store for the big casing. You can use them another situation aside from this. Glad to see you’re picking up subs 😊
You guys did a good job cleaning up that mess and getting it running again, one thing them split well seals that will drop everything in the well if someone takes some of those bolts out and makes it fall apart I would trash them, they are no count in my opinion.
I noticed you were using a pair of Ideal side cutters. That what my Dad always used because they have the crimper built into them. Plus good quality tools. My Dad and my Grandfather started drilling wells in north west Alabama in 1946.
Another fantastic job done fair play to you both
Great job taking care of people in need emergency repair! Video was very well done also.
Thanks for doing things the right way. Thanks for sharing good information.
Having a well myself I find your videos fascinating. I will not do any repairs myself! I will call a professional! My well is 45’ with a 10’ setting gap and produces 12 gallons per minute. My water table is so high.
What a job. A big surprise when you turn up to job.👍👍
I got the same glasses I bought back in 1978 nice throwbacks 😮
Good job on the repair!
Came across your channel doing research. I think I'm having a well pump issue. It is pretty old so that's the first clue. Last week the water started to get slow until it quit entirely. Turn off the faucet and the pressure would build back up, then again to nothing over and over. Thought it may have been the pressure switch so replaced that and checked the pressure in the tank to make sure it was good. Testing after installing the new switch, I left a faucet on and everything seemed to be fine with the pump coming on and off at the correct pressures. Then over the weekend it started slowing to nothing then the pressure would slowly build back pressure.
You guys killed it 👊 great job ! I have been watching your videos getting pumped up to work on my well ! I think I got a bad pump ! Only getting 12lb of pressure and I have put a new pressure tank and switch ! I pulled it up a couple feet and turned it on to listen if there was a break in the pipe down the well and didn't hear anything ! Do you have a video on how to diagnose if the pump is bad using a voltage meter ? That would be great ! Thanks for your videos !
Another good video to keep my eye on.
What a good Result from good Person like you; HOOORAAAH!!! May Thee ALMIGHTY GOD Bless You Always, AMEN!!! 🙏☝️🙏

Never fails with the rain sometimes. Been fighting it on my project a lot of times but thankfully have a ton more to do inside as well so it's just changing gears a little bit. Had one jobsite I worked on years ago that kept getting rained out, ended up having to move on because I needed an income and a jobsite that is mud for months on end doesn't put food on the table or pay the bills. I think in the 2 months that site was open we got about 2 weeks worth of work done before I found another job.
If things work out the way I want them too though rain won't bother me much but then again I will be an average of 60 feet under water while I work unless I am in a room with a couple students.
Not from your area or familiar with the well trade , but in the Michigan area it's 1k a day for each man on the job give or take. I would have charged the full day rate. Material looks like north of $500, less than 1k. Same day emergency call. $2,500 - 3,000.
wtf!? I paid 6500 for a jet pump, a bladder tank, and a sediment filter in Ohio....How in the heck would all of the work in this video come to less than half what I paid? Did I get ripped off?
I am learning so much more then I knew about well pumps .
I have a friends well that pumps rusty water . 150 foot down 25 years old well . I told her that it needs to be cleaned and maybe replace the pump . This was 4 years ago . I invested the whole neighborhood, everyone is pumping rusty water , even the well under 10 years old !
I have replaced the pressure switch and brought the air down , the air in the tank was set at 45 psi . I put in a 30/50 switch
did u set the air to 28 if you put in a 3050?
If I were doing the repair, I would have just replaced the wire anyway. The stress from being ripped loose might have caused some very small splits or cracks in the insulation, which will cause the wire to fail later.
Other than that, excellent work as usual.
Absolutely would not trust the wiring
I agree, I mentioned replacing everything, but the owner said not to since it was still Pumping after being hit by the car. That's why the ground was so wet area there. The pump flooded everything for hours the night before.
Great job
@H2OMechanic not sure if you already have these but a leg canopy aka a tail gate tent would help keep your work space out of the rain and sun in instances where you're not using your drill rig or crane.
lil 50 walmart canopy would do the trick too for real
I had a 6" steel casing that was hit by a payloader doing snow removal. Bent the casing really bad and peeled the top cap off. Had to dig it it out in -15 temperatures, I'd take your heat any day over that. Nice job.
great video! I suggest you invest in some inflatable pipe plugs but when would you need it next?
This guy is always kicking ass. My hero.
You have to love that “sledge hammer” her brought you🤗
Im from Canada, Love watching your videos. I have an acreage so watching your videos has helped me a-lot. My guess on your price for that repair would be $3000 US all in.
Love the video. Maybe a 10x10 canopy or something similar could keep you out the rain.
Somewhere around 2000 likely more since it was "emergency" repair that pulled you off another booked job. Heck, the car insurance has to pay so hit em harder than you would the homeowner.
I'd expect the insurance company to write a check for around $7k. When the kid is released from jail, I'd expect their insurance rates to go up accordingly.
90% chance he had no insurance and I also bet his license was already suspended.
@@georgiapatriot4575 home owners insurance should step in then.
Insurance doesn’t cover you while committing a crime.
had no insurance. they relying on gap or self pay.
My guess the mostly labor cost, new tank and pipe $2000. If it goes to court the judge says the kids parents "should" split the bill, if no insurance.
Nice work in an emergency situation and the rain.
Great job, I am close to you I think. I am in the Lynchburg,Va area.
I live in New South Wales, Australia, your channel has been a great source of information for myself and local farmers, we live in the bush, no local town water. great channel, thank you hey what do you know about tank water, ie: rain water capture and treating. Cheers from down under..
Good job yall.
Good job well done
I'd suggest a $1200 emergency call-out plus $250-300/hr emergency labor for the two guys needed with a 4hr minimum, plus any parts and materials. It's a good idea to have a calculation of situational billing (standard/scheduled vs emergency) for both the trip and the labor calculated to be appropriate for the skills, experience, manpower, and equipment wear required to complete the job, but upkeep as though you'll only have about 70-80% of your regular workload. Put any surplus generated into a maintenance fund account (preferably one that accrues interest) after paying yourself and your employees. This surplus fund should be treated like a nest egg for the business to weather difficult times or to cover unexpected expenses. A separate account (or accounts) should be used for operating expenses, such as payroll and operating expenses. Perhaps when calculate an emergency travel mileage expense based on travel distance ranges from whatever you consider your 'home territory'. This way if you get an emergency request that's further afield, but still doable, you can readily calculate the out-of-territory markup. So let's say your regular territory covered a 90 mile radius, but you have an emergency client that is 120 driving miles away, then that markup should apply.
Lots of thoughtful advice here
When you’re dealing with an insurance company on an emergency job double whatever you’d normally charge then add an additional 10%, if they complain, which I’m certain they won’t, just knock off the 10% and they’ll be satisfied
@@jamesbagos3459and if there isn’t any insurance and the old guy has to use his life savings then you can feel really smug. Sure the car insurance won’t be paying let’s hope the house insurance will 🤷♂️. I just charged an honest days pay, might add a little if I didn’t want to do it

Nice job
The last time I replaced one of my well pumps I used heat shrink tubing to hold the wire to the pipe. I used 2" wide piece every 4 feet.
I'd pull the pump completely out and put a section of 6 inch pipe in as a dirt shield. Then I'd back fill and pour a new pad and go from there. But then I'm good with concrete too. It would be good if you had a post hole digger on the truck. Good Job!
What a fantastic job you did for this repair! You are the best!!! I have no idea what I would charge for this job!
1500
Awesome job, I am a sparky, so no idea how to even estimate that job. 2 people for let’s say 8 hours, 100 bucks an hour for maybe normal or emergency 1600 bucks? Then material and other charges. I would say 3000-3500. That’s a guess though. Of course I don’t do service work since I work at a prison, but might be a good idea, if you have the spare room to keep a pop up cover on your truck, 10x10. We use them pretty frequently at our joint.
need a 10x10' popup tent. be good for shade and protection from rain
Awesome
Yes that wire is similar to Romex build style, but its UF wire. The heavy outer insulation compared to standard Romex (NM-B wire) which is considered "conduit" is rated for wet and direct burial. As an electrician, it is a great "all in one" wire for wells, but I hate stripping it hahaha! Love your videos btw, I love geology and working in construction, I think wells are pretty damn cool.
You need to get yourself a canopy tent for them days lol
In central Florida they have to use hard pipe on residential wells and the drop pipe too
You should always take care of your electrical. Put a post in the ground with a Air conditioner disconnect attached and terminate your romex to that then run liquid-tite to your pressure switch. It looks better and provides a very close power disconnect to the well pump.
The power to this pump was on a sub panel on the 4x4 post about 8 feet from the well. Our law is the power disconnect must be in sight of the system which it was.
Double what you charge for that emergency fix. His insurance should cover it. I like your work.
looking down an open well with glasses on and no glasses band... brave
You always go the extra mile to help people out. I would say with what you and the team went through, this job would have been $4,000-$5,000
Emergency Insurance jobs get charged differently in most industries. This would be considered emergency services . This will be falling back on the insurance of the drivers vehicle . The property owner may also have had insurance he can file on, then his insurance will sue the automobile driver. I would say $4,000 and the insurance won’t even blink an eye they will just write the check .
Cant rely on felons having insurance....
@@Debbiebabe69 then your homeowners insurance will cover it. I’ve had homeowners insurance pay for a new well for a lightning strike it will 100% pay in a deal like this .
The driver was probably not insured.

Nice job! I’m learning a lot from your videos. I’m looking at buying a property that has a well that was damaged in a fire, so i am studying up to give me some incite on what i am going to have to deal with.

@@pesqair Thanks grammatical police. Everyone knows that when you type on your phone, it will autocorrect to whatever it thinks you wanted to say right before you post. 🙄
that’s good and all but this isn’t a grammar issue. it’s a vocabulary issue.
Like I said, it's not worth mentioning. It was a mistake by my phone not me. Go look for a fight somewhere else Ken (karen). The focus was the video not my vocabulary. Out of all the comments you choose mine. GTFOOH.
See a lot of comments about how the insurance company for the teenage driver should just write a check. First that's assuming the kid had insurance on the vehicle. Second, there's usually a clause in auto policies that should the driver be doing something illegal with the vehicle like drunk driving or in this case fleeing from the police, the policy is void. Most likely the homeowner will need to file the claim and their insurance go after the kid.
Your spot on! That's exactly what the building owner said while we were there
i'm no expert but i think if the kid or his parents own the car then the insurance will not be able to weasel out of the liability claim. they will not pay for the car damage but if he had hit someone they would still have to pay damages to an innocent party. now if the car was stolen then that doesn't apply .
21:21 guess all the extra centering rings came in handy collected the mud before it made it all the way down the well.
What is at the bottom of the well... Mud...
The cost in this area around $2,500-$3,000 New Wells in my area are $ 5900 320 feet then $12 per foot after that :)
Hustlers work through lunch. I like the truck too brother. Lol
I really enjoy your videos I learned so much I would suspect That it was a at least a $3,000 job the insurance company should pay for that emergency call thank you for your video.
I have a hard time Over-charging people. I feel like what I charged is fair & what my time & experience is worth. This was $2,280. Seems low compared to what most comments say 3-4k. $900 in parts, the rest was labor. I believe in being Fair to Everyone, regardless of if insurance will cover it.
Hope those kids parents have a lot of money.. fantastic job..
