The only reason I could see for them changing dps passive now is for data collection, which to be far could be it, but 2. I’m having a hard time imagining a world where this one change makes it op, good sure, but honestly there’s just too much pressure for it to be op without some ridiculous changes.

Calling it now. First the movement speed reduction from fortify will be reduced to like 15% or 10% and then they will decrease javelin spin from 9-8 seconds and then they will give her something fucking wild like more damage on enemies that stand in her ult

It’s fun af in open queue and most of the top leaderboard are tank players.
Open queue is a small percentage of the player base so no one really balances around it or cares about it

Highly recommend open queue, you get tank duos and it’s less serious (plus it’s not even 3 tanks 2 supports anymore, you want a dps for the passive)
Absolutely wild that the dps passive got buffed again. I thought tanks were finally getting some resistance to it. Bright side, the dps buff hurts hog, mauga, and other face tanks without complete negation

To be fair I am a tank player and I genuinely enjoyed the dps passive at 20% because the other tank on the enemy team was unaware that the could not stand in damage and if I just played better then them I just won
@@patrickolah yeah 20% really shows you who is good at tank fundamentals and who just plays tank like a heavy dps. You got to have presence in the fight and hold attention without dying. That being said, it is really soul sucking to play like that all the time. Tanks deserve to have some killing power in the fight and be able to leverage their health to do it, there's an ideal mixture that is lost when you have to peak, eat shit, get behind cover to heal and repeat.
Tbh, they just need the dps passive to active after a certain amount of damage done.
20% is fine, Tracer/Sombra/76 instantly having it is not.

Gold Tank here. It seems like the reason ventures do so good in metal ranks is because its a hero that can pressure supports and dps more consistently due to how forgiving their kit is. The massive hitbox on drill, the damage combo, the easy to use escape ability and not to mention this is a dps that can shoot at the ground and still get damage. Combine all of that and you get a hero in metal ranks that punishes bad play while also forgiving poor mechanics. Also people in metal ranks seem to group up alot during her ult or run away when she’s killable and let her take space.
the issue i have is that they arnt good in high ranks and gutting them for metal rank players it just doent make sense. yeah lower rank players make positioning and targeting mistakes but at the end of the daay THOSE players make the mistake. If they cant figure out how to counter venture and get knocked a rank - THEY DESERVED IT. The whole point of ranked is to reward the player who plays better and makes less mistakes so that you can practice fix that mistake and climb higher
@@titaniumgotlet6734definitely feel that but to his point the character is very forgiving and hitting valuable damage was way too easy. If this is a problem where he’s too good in low and bad in high then he’s got character design flaws not the players problem

I'd like to add that Fortify CD starts when the button is pressed which mean once Fortify end, the CD will also be 1 seconds longer which is a nerf to both the ability AND the cooldown
The Orisa nerfs actually camouflaged the DPS passive buff. Like the tank she is, she drew attention towards herself.

From experience, the Venture nerfs ARE from the metals ranks, just because they can do so much burst damage very quickly (if you're out of position and don't have the awareness)

2:55 no it the combo where you go underground wait for someone to push or look for a really good opportunity for a backline kill. 80% of the time you always get that backline kill. The combo is go underground press space and shot one in air use drill and melee . You can do this combo in likes 2 seconds. If your good 1seconds.i am gold 4 dps.

Us mercies are crying, cant keep people up with 15% resuction let alone 20 and the only compensation buff we've got is .5 off the stupid secondary cooldown on guardian angel since they nerfed projectile size a week after it was buffed (i know its a net buff but still, also everyone got that)

@@NBZTasker You can absolutely still healbot the entire game if you choose, but this change just incentivises blue beam more since healbotting is less effective.
Personally I don't see the fun in yellow beaming the whole game, blue beaming is the whole point of mercy and you are disadvantaging yourself pretty hard if you don't use it, not to mention you would be frustrating your team.
As someone that is very low ranked yes venture was completely dominating every game.

@@mryellow6918 It's easy to counter Venture: play Sombra, Pharah, or Roadhog and you'll win more fights against them.
The only thing that stood out to me as egregiously bad before this nerf was their ult cost: it felt like I was getting 4 ults per game on average. All it took was going in with your team and firing your primary into the enemy mob, and since the explosion doesn't knock people away very far or kill them outright, you could rack up a lot of ult charge for basically free.
Drill Dash's damage going down is fine with me, but nerfing their drill gun makes me worried that the damage scaling will make it much, much more painful to land an indirect hit.
I'm ashamed of y'all, just play Ashe and use coach gun to get away when Venture dives you and use dynamite on them so they're forced to burrow. Venture's range is way too short and burrow is too slow for anyone to be consistently struggling.

Venture was not that big of issue. Just wait for the burrow to finish and focus him. Unfortunately, lower elo players can't seem to grasp the basic idea of coordination. Not to mention, players really do be lacking any self awareness. I'm literally burrowing right towards the enemy team. Everyone can see it. And yet somehow the enemy team still let me enter their backline and cause havoc
They finally put ventures damage in line with damage in s9. She had damage similar to s8 with the 200hp pool

I played against a Doom/Sombra duo the other night. Had trouble even though i was also Sombra. This is now worrisome but means a tank like Doom cannot mess up even one cooldown otherwise straight back to spawn
I really want the stats that show the number of tank players v. Dps v. Support players. With every patch i sweat tanks are just dwindling more and more

The orisa nerf was terrible tho. You can sit there crying about orisa all day but the fact remains that orisa hog and mauga are what all tanks should be. Rein sigma jq and zarya get deleted instantly. They are not tanks. They are fat dps. Nerfing characters that can survive alone only makes ALL characters in that role suffer. Fighting a tank isn’t supposed to be fun. Ever.
But orisa was also not played that much so the crying never made sense. Flats specifically had the argument of “orisa is the only tank that’s an actual tank so I’m going to cry about it nonstop!” Well, now all tanks are garbage and unfun. Let’s see how long the game lasts now that they made support unbelievably unfun and tank borderline unplayable unless you’re playing doom or hog.

Play any mmo or game with “tank” roles in a pvp settings they will always be hard as hell to get rid of and generally be unfun to play against because that’s what a tank is at its core. It’s not supposed to die in 1.5 seconds.
Orisa and mauga are what tanks should be. Difficult to kill in one way or another and be entirely focused on controlling your surroundings. Meanwhile in overwatch all the tanks are just fat dps while orisa was the only actual tank. All because people wanted to cry about the almost nonexistent orisa players that clearly were never showing up in peoples lobbies to begin with.
This is why paladins is just better gameplay wise. If paladins wasn’t so damn ugly and unoriginal it would’ve actually kept up with overwatch.

I played a lot of games today and I actually had a lot of fun on rein, maybe just because me and my friends are metal ranks but he doesnt feel bad to play right now even with the 20% dps passive.
I'm just glad they fixed the bug where Venture gets sent into orbit when you get booped while drill dashing.
The DPS passive buff is like "hey you all nice and warmed up with the 15? We're gonna put it back to 20 again."
Honestly the 20% doesn’t seem too bad. The reason tank melted during the previous 20% patch was because zenyatta was hard meta and hard to kill

healing numbers for some heroes also went up so that along with zen not being meta will make the tank experience at least a bit better than s9
Venture was clapping lower ranks. I got a 70% win rate with practicly one tricking them. (Console plat 1 dps.) The fact that they could delete someone in one go with barely any time to react was stupid especely for tracers.
thank you, I main tracer and was getting deleted WHILE blinking. Venture wasn't terrible to deal with but definitely made my heart skip a beat when they got too close
Tracer is like one of the best characters in the game, and she could still get out of it.
Any good tracer can easily dodge the combo. Venture does do well against any squishy but a Tracer who can think and breathe at the same time will easily counter Venture.

they also should've increased their sound for burrow, and removed the sound for allies burrow so its easier to tell when the enemy is engaging.

The problem with 5v5 and counterwatch format, is that even an objectively good decision such as nuking the horse, has unwanted consequences. She's an evil, yes, but think about what other evils she was keeping in check.
Doom, Hog, Mauga -will all be more viable and have far more playtime. That's one thing. But then also consider, when those tanks become viable and mainstay picks, who shuts them down? Sombra.
Get ready for the Sombra fiesta bois, it's gonna be awful. Thanks 5v5. Ensuring even good decisions have bad endings -since 2022.
The problem with things like sleep dart or hack is that they used to be split between two tanks but now it's a single tank so it's essentially double the uptime. I feel like halving CC on tank would be good.

@@norbertcsaszar4746 nah bro I know venture is strong in metal ranks but what needed to be changed is the audio cue. You can't hear venture which is why ppl got insta deleted. The nerfs are too much. Also, Venture's pronouns are they/them, not she/her. Venture is not a girl.
@@norbertcsaszar4746 Bro Ven was B tier at most. Deadass skill issue on your part and was 100% not an issue across all ranks. Outright lying on your part. In Masters and GM Ven is easy to deal with and SUPER easy to force cooldowns out of because of the aggressive playstyle by design. Seriously, balancing the game across low rankers and bot supports is the worst thing that's happened to it and the whole reason we got what was season 9. Game balance around people that constantly separate from the team and position like they're rolling dice is crazy. It's the reason Rein is garbage in high ranks and other heroes with skill ceilings that aren't Tracer suffer because of it. It's dumb. I guarantee Ven isn't the reason you can't climb. You can quite literally with a little bit of gamesense and good mechanics carry yourself out to high diamond - masters

One shot character, release brig vibes asf! The nerfs were needed, theyre just brigitte and doomfist in one character, so overpowered on release that they collapsed dps queue times during the trial time and had an absolutely nuts winrate and KD, i dont understand how people didn't even get onto deathmatch to see how op Venture truly was, such a good character concept but really overturned at launch :((
@@inkspot.1236if they use all their cooldowns to “1 shot combo” you they are then a sitting duck that automatically gets deleted. Starting in play they are useless because people actually have eyes and can see when they are trying to initiate

That's the same argument for Genji, but Genji is horrible on metal ranks and worse or better depending on the skill in high elo, Shadder2k most likely left Overwatch because of the frustrating genji experience on his last few months streaming, Necros is complaining and struggling as well (competitive top elo players), is anyone complaining about getting stunned and countered as venture? No, because they have everything a flanker should have and need plus more!!
I'm not low skill, I've been playing videogames ever since I was 3 years old and my first game ever was Battlefield 4, I'm very experienced in shooters and I have an impeccable game sense, I train my skills a lot as a hobby even tho I have bigger hobbies like my future psychology career and my current dog handling career, I just don't like competitive play so I don't get serious or good matches a lot, therefore I have no rank, Venture is just Genji but far, far better and the content creators aren't considering Venture because there's no OTPs yet and people aren't very experienced at him, they could easily be a top pick with enough mastery!!
Btw it's crazy that they have a version of doomfist's meteor strike on a medium cooldown, a better swift strike on a short cooldown that is also a better doomfist uppercut, self heal from only using his abilities, a squishy 2 shot, movement impairing, medium range flexible ultimate and a sigma primary fire with better precision but less damage per burst/shot and more rate of fire, daym!
Yes I play genji, I just wanna come home and play flawlessly like I always do but I usually get mangled around and 1 shot instantly, it's the only character I have issues with, I can deal with Moira, Symmetra, Zarya and all the genji "counters", but venture just 1shots me from behind with no way to know and 2 shots me by only pressing 2 different buttons in succession!
Venture was wildly overpowered. These changes were necessary.

Catering the game towards the largest portion of the player base is a good thing. We shouldn’t be fuuully listening to streamers/pro players because they are playing an entirely different game than the rest of us

I’m super confused with the venture changes, I’m high plat low diamond and I pretty much never saw them in comp. When someone did play them the second they popped from the ground anywhere behind or around the team they got instantly rolled.

Venture nerf seems fine, she felt too easy to get value with, IMO. Especially with that escape. Felt like CC was mandatory to kill her if she knew what she was doing, so the least they could do is make it so there's at least some hope you can fight back, especially with the heal nerf.
This should make it to where her combos should be more of a finishing move rather than a one shot combo or shredding half the tank’s health instantly. Her ult nerf was unwarranted tho.

This basically means tank role doesn't exist anymore so a tank who doesn't feed yet still get value (doom, dva, ball, JQ) will be good. You will have no tank presence in the game and tanks playing observer kind of way and using mobility to quick engage/disengage.
