Here's to the original pioneers
//
Synodic.
How stars aligned as Navigators forged the path to a novel and strange world
As said Navigators changed societal tides by sailing ocean tides
Freedom seekers, desiring Truth, forsaking convention, abandoning comfort,
Visionaries in whose ideals we now live, presumptuous in our entitlement.
Rhapsodic.
The rapturous delight as the sea greeted these Navigators with its salty salutation,
Archaic ideals crashing as vehemently as the crashing waves; this same sea
Carrying them forward to a new horizon brimming with promise and possibility,
The dawn of a new age, deserting the familiar for the extraordinary.
Hypnotic.
The sights, the scents, the shore, the sand, as Navigators made land
After a tumultuous and devastating journey, well worth the sacrifice
As these Navigators became Pioneers, stepping forth into the lush foliage
Of this exhilarating, uncharted territory eagerly beckoning them forward.
Embryonic.
A new society, rudimentary, as Pioneers gave up the ghost, laboring
To birth the vision that burned hotly like a fire shut up in their bones,
Blazing the way for these freedoms to which we are now bound
And for which it is our duty to uphold, to embrace, to preserve.
Psychotic.
To think said freedoms remain without sacrifice, without the voice
Of the New Pioneers, whose forefathers cried “Give me liberty, or death!”
And likewise shall we cry or our freedom will surely die, stolen before our eyes,
Disregarding the price for our privileges paid by the Navigators, the Original Pioneers.
