How does this channel not have more subs? Amazing animations and content.
I've just found this channel, really great stuff.
Had to come back and view this a few years later and all I can say is thats pretty bang on in terms of the numbers. The incompetence from people employed by the club on high wages trusted to do a good job (none playing staff) let us down, the negotiation of player contracts (Jack Rodwell embargo) and Ellis Shorts lack of footballing knowledge but determination to try and do well by the fans just by throwing money out in the wrong places. Stewart Donald made similar mistakes, was too eager to be popular in the eyes of the fans but one thing I have learned growing up as a sunderland fan is that if you're an owner/manager or anything along them lines employed by Sunderland football club A) make sure you have the right intentions
B) Never read and take fan comments too seriously
Yes football in the north east of england is huge and the fanbase is arguably one of the better in the 92 but they (a majority not all) do not have a clue what they want or a clue about what has went wrong for us and how to fix it... they simply cry and call players shit, demand for managers to be sacked after 3 bad games, call every player on the roster shit despite barely watching any of our games, demand the signing of unrealistic targets that Sunderland could never realistically entice and I think the problem is because of the amazing support sunderland fans can bring in owners have been too scared to go against what the fans have demanded and wanted incase the fans stopped turning up to games and buying merchandise. The fans inability to understand we are not one of the biggest clubs in the country and have very little going for us in terms of drawing in top players from abroad or even different parts of England. The missmanament of the club is in plain sight for everyone to see but a large number of Sunderland fans should also hang their heads in shame. It will never change either even as we are a league one club and have been very average in that league for the last few seasons the comments from fans are ridiculous. Before Lee Johnson signed as manager our fans were claiming Eddie Howe or Sam Allardyce would be the best choices and the club should go for them... they still suggest we sign premier league / championship level players and dont understand why it's a ridiculous thing to say. Lack of knowledge in general has been a big part of Sunderlands problem for too long, in the club, outside of the club, on the pitch and off the pitch. The club where fans demand the signing of Will Grigg as he is a proven goalscorer so the owners pull out the stops to sign him and make everyone happy despite the fact he didnt fit into the managers play style then turned their back on him and denied the fact they ever wanted him 5 games in after he had unimpressive games... you can't make the stuff up we have went through and had to endure over the years and hopefully stability and compitence is coming soon. quality work
Cheers my man!
now were dropping to league one, abysmal
My new favourite subscription. Outstanding work on these, high production value and quality content.
I kind of hope you don't grow big, so I look smart explaining these things to my friends ;) Just kidding you deserve it
LOL same thought I had the other day haha.
Quality channel mate, i love your work so much! Great channel for all football lovers. For people like us it is not enough to just watch the games, we have to know about the teams in depth. Interesting as f**k! Keep it up, subscribed!
Thank you good sir!
Great vid, please make more!
You should do one about Villarreal and Sassuolo and how they've able to achieve European football and decent league finishes despite working on small budgets.
Thank you Tommy!
Probably one of your best videos, brilliant stuff here and really informative. Not a Sunderland fan by any stretch but interested in finances and revenue, thanks.
Annnnnnd
They're in League 1...
Another brilliant video. These are fantastic.
i've spent all night watching these videos, the production quality is off the scale
Great channel buddy. great work overall
This is an amazing explanation and very relevant/helpful while getting into the Netflix show
love this channel + how you tell the story #Tifo
p.s plz do more vids about clubs outside the PL more ,Asante (Thanks in swahili)
Can you do one that proves that it is better to lose games as a Premier League team than it is to win games as a Championship team
HAHAHAHA
ha ha they cannot even win games in the championship
fantastic video from a newcastle fan
Wow mate that was fantastic but scary hope we pull out of that cycle
extremely well edited video
Quality video mate, this really puts things into perspective for me and other sunderland fans and it's due to the amount of money where going to lose that we're not going to come back into the premier league for a while.🔴⚪️🔴 👍🏻
Top man George, thanks for the comment - Danny
Great insight on the administrative mismanagement at Sunderland!
Thanks Hahalala. Great name.
Fantastic video! Worrying to look at as a Sunderland-fan though.

Bert NUFC Mate why come on a Sunderland video when you don't support them, just to start arguments. Nobody wants you here and how many consecutive games now have you failed to beat us in? Oh yeah, 8. Must have a shit life if you come on CZcams to annoy people in your spare time.
Bert NUFC You probably weren't even alive for most those 20 years so why would that matter to you and stop twisting the story, it's probably because we weren't even in the same division as you. I don't care if Newcastle is a bigger club in the past that won loads of trophies and were better than Sunderland, good for you. But the generation you're in now, Newcastle are also shit, stop bringing the past in.
Currently 7 years since NUFC have beaten SAFC at home and counting.
Great read!
Well made!
Good video - just as a random part of this, at 1:00 you compare Sunderland growing revenue by £4m in 7 years with palace, growing by £12m between 2013-15 - I think it's not quite like-for-like when you consider that Palace were promoted in 2013, so their 'growth' has just brought them into line with the likes of Sunderland, Swansea, Leicester, Stoke etc who are perennial lower PL clubs.
I mean it's all nicely explained, but I don't think that context is particularly relevant. I'd rather see what Stoke's growth was in that time for context, as both clubs have been in the PL the entire time.
Fascinating.
As a Sunderland fan this was both fascinating and worrying to watch.

you are so fucked bro..
Can you do this again for the finances now. Almost all fans are worrying that we are going into administration
I like the song for this video
X1 Football what's it called? is it the four legs theme?

shame...sunderland is a big club, it could challenge to a higher level.
coalikesdesi 😂😂 they'll be challenging for bottom spot

exactly mate! I'm amazed more people don't see it this way. We've got a 49,000 seater stadium and have been in the Premier League for 10 consecutive seasons now including this one. We shouldn't be anywhere near the bottom three. Given how teams like Stoke, Southampton, Crystal Palace and Leicester have come up and done better than us that is simply unacceptable. Why are we not seen as a big club? Do people really think our fans are happy with constantly underachieving in the Premier League? Do people think we enjoy relegation battles. We hate it. If Leicester can win the league and Newcastle can keep a Champions League winning manager despite going down to the Championship then I think we have a right to expect much better here. I'm not saying win the Premier League because that'll never happen. But I means being comfortably in mid-table if not challenge for the top 10 consistently. David Moyes I believe is the right man and hopefully, along with Martin Bain, will sort this debt out & build things for a much better future.
+J Hhhh
Cringe. Overused meme.
Michael Bowers Have fun in league 1
Excellent work. It's a shame we're in the position we're in but hopefully things change over the coming 5-10 years.
Something changed?
@@natsudama4604 Something has changed drastically mate.
@@jaredpalmer7953 like what? Can you tell me?
@@natsudama4604 After 5 long hard years of league one, we've made our return to the championship
@@jaredpalmer7953 That's nice, congratulations, up to the premier league
I think we have a strong squad to stay up but the injuries are holding us back and with one injury to Defoe we are done for
It's depressing
Safc Opfa hehe
Is it possible for us to go into administration?
Well you know if they tried buying young players from lower leagues like they did with Pickford they could become actually good.Imagine selling 5 players for 30+mil each summer like some other teams.
And if it wasn't for Defoe, they'd be in a even worse sate. You'd really feel for them if they went down and just completely busted. They'd have to sell a bunch in order to maintain the Championship.
DJVm4GOD1 Be creased me
DJVm4GOD1 looks like they will get relegated again
I've got sunderlands income this season at about 160 million and wages at 65 million. can Mr bain please explain where I've gone wrong I would love to speak with him and let him correct what I've said
*Sunderland fan*
Watches this 3 years later .............gets noose.
Depending on Saturday it might night be a good idea to come back again
re do this video for the new owners
Knowing what I know about Sunderland... it's a club that the town need but also love
The people who support the club will die before the club does
Look at us now....
WE ARE IN THE BLOODY CHAMPION SHIP !!!!
YAY!!!!
(Sarcasm)
do west brom finances
4:50 which it was
As long as you avoid relegation you don't even need to make money. That seems messed up. As long as you are getting something like eight times your annual match day revenue from the TV companies you are sitting pretty. As I write this Sunderland are second bottom and on joint points with Hull and only ahead by 5 goals. In the EPL how many teams face straight relegation? If it's any more than 2 I think they are pretty much screwed now.
It will sting Sunderland 10x more if their place in the premier league is taken by Newcastle.
Hurley Cape town hope it happens cause they took the spot we were trying to get last season to send us down CUNTS!
James Macbeth Mate.. shut the fuck up
James Macbeth what was that?
let's talk about this season income 140. --150 million. out wages after getting rid of Johnson lens Fletcher giaccarini brown etc 65 million i would say , transfers 22 million total out 87 million. in 140 million 50 million left happy days
It was
Short is good at making money but he just doesn't invest enough into the club where one of the biggest clubs in the country for facilities and stadium size we should be a top 10 team easy but lack of investment keeps making us into relegation battle every season and keep sacking managers doesn't help long term it only works short term need new owner to take the club forward Short did OK for about 3 or 4 year but these days u have to spend over the top for premiere league proven players and we don't
love Sunderland
But Short spoils it with his lack of ambition
SHORT OUT
are you joking the stadium of light is a shit hole that you cant even fill
aside from the top 4 or 5 we usually have 1 of the biggest attendance in the prem 40 plus thousand about 90% of the games
james middleton no you dont lol
One more source to back it up.
talksport.com/football/average-attendances-201617-so-far-top-20-british-clubs-featuring-premier-league?p=11
Ellis Short just another wealthy owner who didn’t know or understand football and made some poor decisions regarding the people he entrusted to run the club. He spent and lost an absolute fortune in the years he owned SAFC but to his credit when he sold the club in 2018 he took all the debt with him (about £180 million) leaving the club debt free (although now in the third tier). The people he sold to Donald and Methven were out of their depth and had no money of their own to invest. Finally KLD bough the club and their model means at least SAFC now have a plan.
And they were laughing at the Toon, what a mess
News flash… it was
Now I'm depressed again
The BLITZKRIEG Gamer sick kid
Bert NUFC Yeah I am pretty sick
Swansea might go down this season
The fact Newcastle and Sunderland have similar problems with the non-broadcasting income. do we think it could be a problem in the North?
Companies maybe don't think it's a fruitful market and the owners such as Ashley & Short aren't doing a great job making the club look attractive to potential businesses and abroad markets? constant bad press, managers getting sacked, poor signings and relegation battles which means the fans are frustrated and less likely to buy into advertisement.
chsssify Liverpool and Manchester are up north
They are both global brands with millions of fans outside of the UK.
The same can't be said for Sunderland and Newcastle?
chsssify many people support newcastle outside of UK most Australians support them because of their city also called newcastle
That's why the black cats are not give up easily in order to survive. They proved themselves that they are not a team that usually being trampled by the strong team.
finances this season. wages 65 million. transfers 22 million total out 87 million. income. bottom of premier 110 million from sky TV 20 million gate receipts 15 additional income from concerts programmes shirt sponsorship total in 145 million. result a fortune left 40 odd million. no debt cos Ellis short has paid it off each year. where is the problem
rubbish. Ellis short bought Sunderland for 22 million he has paid off each debt since 2006 to a total of 170 million. total outlay for a premier club 192 million. big deal. if these figures are correct then that suggests we only have the debt short has paid out. is that debt? or the money he should have paid for the club in the first place? income this season 140 million wages 65 well below 50 per cent. all is well
go look at the accounts mate, it's all there.
Now I know why they got relegated to league 1 cos of this video
Basically if Sunderland get relegated they're fucked
bring back allardici.
They are where they belong
Sun-less-land
pounds not pound
Let's all laugh at Sunderland ha ha ha, oooooh karma is a bitch
Sunderland are a shambolic mess. We can only hope they get relegated and stop dirtying the premier league. Terrible team, terrible club.
Ray Wild ever single fucking comment I read is dickhead Newcastle fans soo fucking sad with their lives all they can do is go on social media ( if they manage to figure that out) and try to bash Sunderland... lol fucking embarrassing you people have noooooo class!!! My dad always said look for the fuck ugly mug with no shirt on and you have yourself a George
So, if Sunderland relegates they are unlikely to come back to PL in near future at least. 68% dependence on broadcasting. But who watches this crap team anyways? :D :D
We do you fucking dogshagger
Damn looks like you will be following the fate of Portsmouth, bye
