The second song, Dear Name, was a song addressed to the names of everyone worldwide. So Dear [insert your name here]. The lyrics are aimed at everyone. The message of the song is the "story of someone who once lost hope in a painful heartbreak, but she eventually is able to keep her faith and hold onto a hope she keeps deep down in her heart. And that is why she put this song as the last track; it concludes her journey of growing up with a hint of hope for the love in the future."
For this performance, IU selected 60 aspiring singers, some new to the industry, some backing vocalists, some with disabilities, some buskers, and showcased them with those solo slots and as a choir. Their names appeared on the screens (in connection with the song's name). IU basically used her clout to showcase a bunch of people and make their year.
IU won album of the year later that night for Palette, which I think to date is her proudest award. She said (rough translation) "I yearned for this award, and it indeed feels good to hold it in my hand. I thank all the listeners and fans. I'll continue aspiring to become a singer, songwriter, lyricist and producer who understands the significant value of 'music,' and stay away from perceiving music solely as a means of fame and wealth"

The story of "Coin" is partly that she took the feeling of a popular gambling movie. It was the first "Tazza" movie. I can't remember the whole name. But the guy who she played at the end was the guru gambler of the movie. The point is that he beat her, but gives her a chance to continue, but she decides to leave gambling behind. She has said that in her 30's, she plans to take more time for herself because to continue at her current pace could do her harm. She is not giving up, but she is adjusting. The guy (guest/feature) was significant. Think about having Al Pacino doing a cameo in some pop star's MV. That is sort of what happened in that MV. Looking at the songs from that album, I like Lilac, but I was a bit disappointed that Coin was not as well received. But I'm old and pop charts are young people's territory. . . .
To international fans, IU is already amazing because of her vocals and her music in general. But if you actually understand Korean, her lyrics TRULY hits different. It's just kinda different if you just read the english translations. They're very poetic, very beautiful especially in Korean. The lyrics might seem simple but the meaning and intentions behind them (as explained by IU) are just so so amazing. Some sad, some nostalgic, some happy, some dark even, but always beautiful aaahh I love IU. And yes her pitching is PERFECT. Her live singing is always so good

Others said it correctly. IU explained in a concert that Throught the Night was prompted after her company asked her to write a love song for her new album and since she suffered from insomnia she was up all night pondering and began to wonder what other people like her are doing and thinking while everyone else is asleep. So it kind of includes a message to them.
Dear Name is for people who feel lost and the name is meant to include anyone who needs it. She used her time to highlight people who are otherwise nameless in the industry or who couldn't break in and all of their names flash on the screen. She wrote the song with Kim Eana who was helped a lot by Jonghyun. He passed away 2 weeks after this and this song and Lee Hi's song by Jonghyun were seen as tribute songs. It became so synonymous with him that she began having anxiety singing it... when we found out about Goo Hara during her 2019 concert we knew in the audience that she had heard because she came out and sang Dear Name.
Kin Eana is actually a radio dj now and after Shinee's comeback this year she held a special episode to open up about Jonghyun and the pain of not being able to talk about him or like Dear Name almost becoming a reserved song rather than celebrating everything he stood for and his impact. Onew actually showed up as a surprise on the show to show his support. It's also an additional reason for why Shinee performed it on IU's show. IU actually has a song by Jonghyun too.
Basically, mention this MMA and Dear Name and you will get several fandoms being emotional in your comments as it means a lot to her fans and Shawols.

(1)This is MMA 2017, Melon Music Award 2017, annual award in K-music. IU got Best Album in that night, and FYI ... this highest awards (daesang) is so hard to be achieved by a soloist ( you need a massive support from fandom), and she's a FEMALE soloist.
(2)I hope if you have time, you can read and understand Dear Name's and Through The Night's lyrics, bcs they are so beautiful.
(3) The context on Dear Name performance:
Unknown artists, a newbie only a month after debut, chorus singers, buskers, and many more musicians joined in on IU's singing. Their names appeared on the large screen, further giving meaning to the track title.
The song stopped for a brief moment, giving artists to state their names. "My name is Yang Seung-ho" "My name is Kim Ga-hee" "My name is Shin Moon-chul" "My name is Um Tae-woo," representing something of a breakthrough moment for those pursuing a career in the music industry. Shinee covered "dear name" on her show "pallette", there, she said about the song that is a pretty nerves wracking song. It's about a someone who is lost, his/her wishes, his name even and all about him is forgotten, but she knows the hardship he suffered, his wishes which are destroyed and also his name which is forgotten, and she will call his name over and over, and find him in some place which is not this sad and harsh. She also performed that song after hearing the news of one of her colleges suicide.
What you said around 20:20 is kinda true hahah she once said in an interview that ‘Every End Of the Day’ (it’s also a song about loving someone so much you feel like dying lol) is a hard song to sing live not because it’s requires a lot from her vocally, but because she has to act lovely and happy and she’s usually tired by then 😂

For songs that are unconventional, you should check out her Modern Times album. It's a bit of a jazz, bossa, and theatrical album. Definitely one of my faves! The title track is called Red Shoes. :)

Blueming ,from the love poem concert live, when you see the stage and reactions you will be very happy,
abt coin and straw moon :
(1)coin is abt workaholic IU. She worked super hard before this, so she want to be take it slower after she reach 30 y.o .
(2)abt straw moon, she said she want to make a super simple/ easy listening/ happy song. The point of Strawberry Moon is its released on midnight, on fullmoon time. This is unusual release time in S.Korea, bcs her song wont show up on the charts even after 8 hours since it has been released. Most listeners listen to new music that is seen in the chart ranking; therefore, singers who release their songs at 12 AM will be at a loss.
Since you've already watched Shinee covering her song, I really recommend watching her cover of Sherlock on IU's Palette ! It's a treat and it could surprise you !
If you want something that sounds completely different, I definitely recommend ‘between the lips (50cm)’ and ‘Love of B’! It’s really different than the type of music she usually does and I believe there’s a live performance for 50cm!

IU has such a huge discography though and as you go through them, you’ll definitely encounter a lot of surprises in terms of the range of her musicality. For now, I definitely suggest going through her Modern Times and Chat-Shire albums as the songs there are definitely different from what you’ve heard from her so far ☺️
ps. I kinda find it ironic when you’re surprised by her belting when she originally shot to stardom because of it lol
i think you'd enjoy her live red queen stages!!! when she performs the song in concerts, it has more of a jazzy sultry arrangement, which really suits her voice nicely :D

Don't be worried about IU almost having a kissing scene lol..she's actually a really famous actress too..she mostly gain a lot of fame internationally because of her dramas..she's in a drama called Hotel Del Luna and Persona which you can watch on Netflix..also Scarlet Heart which she acted with Exo Baekhyun too..My Mister which is named by most fans as her best drama..The Producers and of course the drama that everyone loves is Dream High..she has a lot more kdramas honestly you should check her acting side as well..IU is just one multi-talented woman honestly.

The concert pieces were recorded mainly from inside the concert hall (a choice of the sound designer) and the delay is the normal delay of sound travelling first electrically through the sound system, then again out the speakers and into the room. That's the real delay you see/hear in a really big hall if you are in the audience. Whether you like that experience or not is always a personal choice. . . .
