Heh, no problem! It's good to hear some of your feedback. I will try to make an improved version of this one soon. :)

VOPM is an emulator that outputs samples to musical arrangement software (such as FL Studio). Even though it DOES synthesize it's own fairly accurate sounds, you can't play back any music made using VOPM on a real Genesis system (or any emulator, for that matter). Music made using a tracker, like VGM Music Maker, is in a program and sequence format. VGMMM outputs a file that can be loaded on a REAL Genesis system by either embedding it in a game or using a player program (such as VGM Player).

The only way for Starfox to even be ported to Genesis back in its era was for it to be created by Sega instead of by Nintendo. If it were to happen, the soundtrack would probably be even more powerful and moving than the way it is now, and the graphics might even be a bit smoother, too.

    It's okay, no worries. :)
My intention was not to make it sound better than the original, hell I know I wouldn't be able to that, but just to sort of give an idea of what it *could* have sounded like if it were on the Genesis. Of course, if the song had an official port to the Genesis back then, it would have sounded a lot better than this.
But I am glad you are not being a jack-ass about it and go all mad and stuff, haha. :)

guitar is a lil grating, and it would have sounded better with after burner instruments. bass and lead are nice though

Yes, I am aware of this. However, I am not knowledgeable enough to use trackers. I use VOPM because it's a lot more user-friendly than a tracker. With trackers, you are entering values, while VOPM is all graphical. I know if you want to get total accuracy, you have to use a tracker. It's just that the process with VOPM is just a lot easier, though you lose a little bit of authentic sound, but I am okay with that.

you did a great job here I only problem is the Orchestral Hit is a few semi tones too low, making it sound out of tune, bring it up to the pitch of the hits and it will sound better

Could you provide an MP3 download or can I just use an online CZcams to MP3 converter? I've always preferred the Genesis sound and would like this one.

I think it sounds cool, but at the same time it sounds terrible off tone, so i couldn't enjoy it as much as i should've enjoyed this. I like to use this soundfont as well for my own songs and i wonder how you get that shrill sound. What's the 'instrument' called? Or maybe you just use a different soundfont.

This is great, but you could've used better percussion samples.

You don't need much knowledge to use a tracker. The note values, volume and instrument values are all there there for you in an easy to interpret system, only effects (Such as slides and panning) are written in weird code language. With the added advantages of being able to play tunes on real hardware VGMMM, TFMMM or Deflemask are good choices over VOPM. If you're crazy enough though, an actual programmer's too such as GEMS (Win3.1) or SMPS (Multi-platform) can be used.

how old are you 12?? in the early 90s sega DOMINATED nintendo. the only thing that sucked was sega of Americas marketing/add on products. people that say sega sucked are obvious nintendo fangirls and/or stupid little kids that weren't even alive in the late 80s/early 90s. compare starfox to virtua racing or the near pc perfect port of wolfenstein 3d on genesis to to the slow, censored, super pixelated snes version and then say that. it's funny how the genesis can run many homebrew ports of snes games like starfox without any add ons like the super fx chip and run them just as good if not better. pretty much proves crap like mode 7 and super fx chip were just marketing gimmicks.
