      The finest shitheadery in Nevada. It is fucking ridiculous. I was looking for options to carry a boot knife here. Moved from out of state, and I am a country boy and I always carried a boot knife just for survival, or back up self defense. found the gay ass laws here regarding knives.

    Thank you for the video. Truly.
    Cutting tools,ie. knife, is THE MOST important survival tool of all time. My favorite combination since I was around 8-10 has been 9-12" blade bowie, semi clip point, 5-7" blade camp knife and 3-4" blade folding locking pocket knife. ALL have very good uses in the wilderness and many uses in cities.

    So this is a little bit old, I live in Reno NV and I wanted to make sure that I wasnt going to get in trouble for concealing my balisong knife. So what did I do? I called the non emergency police department line and spoke to the Chief about the laws. Currently, in nevada, excluding parks and schools, the only illegal concealed knife is a machete. He confirmed that it is completely legal to carry concealed butterfly knives and even switchblades now as of almost 2 years ago.

    Thanks for the video. I was told by a police officer that took my 4 & 1/2in knife away from me years ago that the limit was 4in. So I carried a 3 & 1/2in knife. Now that I am looking into in more. If I carry a 3in or larger knife I can end up in court. So that knife now sits at home. People think that 3in is the limit, but from this video and other places online, I have read 3in or larger... meaning the blade needs to be under 3in. 3in is not the limit, 2.99in is the limit.

    • @julesbabauta
      @julesbabauta Před 7 lety +3

      Open carry it. As long as a part of the knife is visible (pocket clip), it's good. The clip must be an original component and not added on after purchase.

    • @702johnny
      @702johnny Před 7 lety +1

      I could see that... I just don't like to push it. I wanted a knife like a benchmade adamas. big bulky folding knife with a strong lock. It has a longer blade and is made from D2 tool steel. But that knife is on the bigger side to pocket carry. i was thinking to carry in a sheath on my belt. if the sheath is exposed (my shirt not covering it.)I was unsure if that is "open carry" or not. Instead I went with the kershaw funxion diy. It has a carabiner on the knife itself which makes it a little easier to open carry. Even though it is just under the 3in limit. I wish this was an option for bigger knives like the benchamade adamas. There is no arguing about open carry when the whole knife is exposed.

    Making criminals out of people carrying a knife with a 4 inch blade and longer is abuse of power. How about a law requiring every member of a legislature to report in writing a detailed budget report on public spending and the reasons for it with a section that is returnable by the citizen providing an assessment of the budget’s failures and successes. Failure by the elected representative to do so within sixty days of the new year is a felony.

    Great info.
    It appears impossible to get a permit to carry a knife and most knives fall under the illegal category. Looks like this decision needs to be up to a jury. A assisted knife can be considered a switch blade and a good pocket knife is over 3in. Most of my collection is illegal to carry and I don't really care. When a law is unjust..........

    They word these laws like that on purpose so they can abuse them and abuse citizens. Just like carrying my cold steel voyager with a 5.25 blade in my pocket. I carry for self defense, looking at it its obvious it is not a work tool and has no real function other than self defense. Carrying it in my pocket alittle more than an inch of the handle sticks out and is clearly visible. An officer questioning me would take into consideration whether or not he thought i had the money to hire an expensive lawyer to fight the charge and would make a decision on whether to arrest me based on that. One more thing to take into consideration if you are ever being harassed by police over your knife if they ask you why you are carrying it do not tell them for self defense, that makes it a dangerous weapon and they would most likely use that to charge you. If you have no other reason like my knife i would just tell them because i want to.

      Carrying a sword is perfectly legal in in NV so long as you do not brandish it in a threatening manner or conceal it like walking cane swords. That doesnt mean the police wouldnt harass you for it. Ive had the cops called on me for sitting on my porch steps sharpening a broad sword. All i would tell them is i was on my own property and was not breaking any law. Dont play their game because they will try to bait you into saying something they can charge you for. Luckily today most everyone is carrying a video camera in their pocket. i would suggest start recording immediately if you ever find the police harassing you..
