does this apply to all grouts? you don't have to let it set before wiping it clean with the sponge?

what did you do in the corners between the first tiles and the backer before the second wall of tile hid that transition gap. Is it hollow or did you fill it w/something? mortor, grout, caulk?

Won't grouting those inside corners lead to cracking? Inside joints between planes should be caulked.
