I’m having trouble finding transfers for a large 3 tiered cabinet that i want to make country store style. I see lots of flowers but am just finding stencils with the country wording. I’ve looked and looked on Etsy and websites. Is there a way to send you the pic of the cabinet for ideas? I’m thinking black for the cabinet to match a table but the doors is what i am looking to put transfers on. Thanks so much!!
WOW Beautiful
Really, really nice job! I was having trouble seeing it in the beginning phases but the finished product was beyond my imagination! I just love it! The color play is so attractive to the eye! A work of art is something you never get tired of looking at and I think you have brought this piece to this point; for me anyway. Love your videos; your energy comes through the screen and the rhythm of your pace of information transfer is fluid and upbeat unlike many DIY vids that drone on beating you like a dead horse with their snail's pace delivery. I have binge watched you now and you MUST provide more content for the appetite you have created.
Hi Ruth! Thanks for binge watching! I appreciate your support and thoughtful comment. I can relate to your comment having trouble seeing it in the beginning, there's often an "ugly stage" in the middle of the project before it all comes together. I am working hard on bringing you more videos, I make these videos in my spare time for fun so thanks for your patience while I get the next one ready :)
Wow you make it look so easy! I'm about to try my first project, so thanks for all the tips!
You can do it! Thanks for watching!
Well!!! This looks amazing! I truly appreciate how thorough and concise your instructions are! I have a project that was overwhelming me ( I haven't started it yet!), but now I feel confident I can get it done!!! THANK YOU FOR THAT!
New projects can be overwhelming! Just take it one step at a time, you’ve got this!! Thanks for watching.

Love how it looks!
Thank you!
I am new to this. Will a dark color paint show through a light colored flower transfer? Do you have to seal the piece before you apply the transfer. This dresser you did is gorgeous! Love it.
Hello first timer loved what you created. My hope is I could create something.
It’s beautiful! Just about to use my first IOD transfer so gleaning all tips I can before I take the plunge. It’s the Wander one and I’m putting it on black. 🤞
I am so excited to try this.
Beautiful!
Thanks.
Thank you!
Beautiful job!!!!!!
Thank you very much! Thanks for watching!
Looks great!
Christina Woods thank you for watching! Glad you like it!
Love this! What sealer do you use?
I love iod and especially the transfers I got to meet the iod sisters at a event for paint that I use they are very nice ladies I like to use wax over my transfers for more durability and also cause the clear film around the transfer goes away most when I wax over have a good day
Thanks for watching and your tips! I have not met the IOD sisters in person, how lucky you’ve had a chance to see them!!! I appreciate your feedback.
This is just beautiful, the colours go so well together, however I have a question please...I got lost a little on what to do if it was a high usage piece of furniture (table etc) to protect the transfers for being damaged...would you seal them with anything please?
Thanks for watching! Yes, for high use pieces you can apply a sealer over top of the transfer, a water based topcoat or furniture wax is what I usually use. When you purchase the transfer there will be recommendations on types of sealers that work best with their brand of transfer.
@@DIYDEANNA Thank you :)
What type of sealant would you put over the transfer and with what kind of tool?
Any advice how to safely remove a long transfer off a wall without damaging the paint?
I impulsively did one and it's a little crooked! Tiny bit. But bugs me.
Also now worried about the landlord if I move in the future. Thanks.
About to do my first transfer oh, what did you use for the sealer before the transfer and what would you use after?
Most transfers will tell you either on the package or website the best option for their brand. Have fun with your first transfer!
Love your videos, I have learned so much! Can you use wax to seal the transfers? The Dixie Bell Clear coat turned my white chalk paint yellow so I use wax instead. I want to seal the paint and trasnfer of a white piece, wanting to know if wax will do the job.
Yes you can! I have done it before with no issues. I would suggest reading the label on the transfer you purchase to see if they recommend a specific brand. Thanks for watching!
I have purchased a new bedside table. Do I need to purchase the cleaning product if it's new?
Beautiful job! Will this transfer adhere if there is wax or a finish already on the furniture?
If you were transferring onto a musical instrument (in my case a harp) would you put some sort of sealer over the transfer? I’m new to transfers! Thanks!
Hi Jill, thanks for watching! I think if the transfer is in an area that gets touched while you play the instrument or pick it up then yes a sealer is a good idea. They type of sealer would depend on the finish that is on your harp and if it would adhere to that.
Beautiful! Do you wax over the transfers?
I didn’t in this video but you can! Water based sealer is also an option.
Is there a sealer you prefer? I know you said check with the manufacturer but they just said a water based sealer. Last time I used a water based sealer I got yellow spots. Just trying to find something that won't do that.
The yellow spots might be from something bleeding through like an old stain or tannins in the wood. So it could have been that furniture piece. In this case I was using Milk Paint so I would have used the sealer that comes in that line of products. Whatever paint or stain I am using, I generally like to stick with that brand of sealer so I know the products are compatible.
I am looking for part one where Deanna shows how to apply the paint. It is darker on the bottom than the top. In part 2 where she applied the floral transfers, she said she’d leave a link but I can’t find it. An anyone help?
Hello! I think this is the video you are looking for czcams.com/video/m-UwxOKdIZU/video.html
Can you only buy these (any) transfers online or can we find different designs in stores like home goods, or home depot?
And what would u flip a piece like this for?
Yes I have seen transfers at local home stores before but have not tried these myself. The ones online from IOD or ReDesign seem to have more variety but that's not to say you can't find beautiful transfers in a home store.
In my opinion, pricing just really depends on where you live, the market at the time and several other factors....that's a topic for an entire video ;)
You can also find on Etsy and Amazon. If you go to the Iron Orchid Design website they have a feature where you can find a local retailer....have fun!
If you were going to seal this piece, what would you use?
I’ve used water based topcoats as well as wax over transfers before. The manufacturer of the transfer will have suggestions on the package/on their website depending on the brand of transfer.
So, you don't need to put something over the transfers?
I mention at the end of the video that I didn’t on this piece because it wasn’t a high use surface so I wasn’t too worried about it wearing off. I was ok with it distressing/wearing away a little over time to add to the look. For added durability and if you want the transfer to stay “perfect” you absolutely can seal it. I’ve used both water based sealers and wax before. Depending on the brand of transfer you buy the manufacturer will have recommendations for sealers.
Where do I get these transfer please I am in the UK Joan
The company is called Iron Orchid Designs czcams.com/channels/MQDhKNdbTWNZmBALz8i4FQ.html take a look at their website for stores, I'm not sure if they are in the UK.
WHAT IS NAME OF THAT TRANSFER YOU USED?
This is it ironorchiddesigns.com/product/flora-parisiensis-iod-transfer-12x16-pad/
What product would you put over the transfer for a high use item?
You dont have to seal a transfer?
I explain at the end that you should seal transfers on high use pieces but I didn’t on this one because it wasn’t going to get touched a lot. Sealing definitely helps protect the transfer and makes it more durable. Thanks for your question!
I used to love the antique look and one day my now ex pointed all these details out and said it looked like a 3 year old painted it. I don't see this at all unless i actually watch it being done. I loved antiquing furniture until he ruined it.
For those who are looking to "upcycle" a piece of furniture and watching this video to learn the how to, PLEASE include the knowledge that antiques in good condition should never be painted over.
This was heartbreaking. I think that most of the people who do this type of thing don't know much about antiques or the history of these pieces. This piece was originally tiger oak which is a process that is incredibly labour intensive to produce. I actually own this exact piece and it's stunning. It's such a shame to see it ruined.
The paint job is lovely but there is no reason to paint originals when there are so many repros or antiques that are beyond saving. CZcams is full of upcycling channels that are more respecting of original pieces and who are actually saving furniture to give it new life. This was just too hard to watch and it's sad that people don't really understand the value lost.
If you want a piece of painted furniture please stick to reproduction or older pieces that are beyond saving. It's a bit like buying a vintage Chanel 3 piece and taking it home, chopping it up and sewing a cute summer dress out of the fabric. Regardless of how cute the dress is, it's not a Chanel original.
Why are you watching ……if this bothers you move along honey…….
@@barbiehoffarth1077 did... Thanks.
U should have removed the hardware before applying such a large sized beautiful transfer. IOD sisters r too much sensitive abt the transferring procedure I think u should follow them properly
Thanks for watching! I love how it looks over the hardware, one of my favourite parts! I posted this on my Instagram page @diydeanna and IOD left a positive comment so I’d say there’s no issue with my application.
Beautiful!
