    Here's a community post answering some frequently asked questions about the Anthropologie Dresser Dupe. I recorded this video last week after we hit 1,000 subs (and before I was approved for community posts) and now we're almost 4x that! 😱 Thank you guys so much for all the kindness and encouragement, I can't wait to share my next project with you

    I noticed that the drawers were sticking a bit when you tried to put them in/out. A helpful hint I discovered many moons ago is to take either a bar of soap or a wax candle and run it along the drawers and the drawer runners. This even helps with sliding aluminium doors.

  • @valkyriesardo278
    @valkyriesardo278 Před 3 lety +15

    For the pulls, consider a trompe l'oeil effect. Take that clay back off the shelf and use the leaf molds to make some drawer pulls. You could probably find a mushroom shape wooden pull and add a leaf to the top. Place the leafy knobs so they appear to attach to the branches. There is no rule that says all drawers must have either center pull or a pair of pulls. The only necessity is that you can pull the drawers straight out instead of at a crooked angle. It's puzzling why the inspiration piece does not have pulls either. Perhaps you could ask them about that. You've done beautiful work here.

    It's SOOO GOOD! Honestly by far one of the best diy projects I've seen in a long time.
    I really enjoyed it 1. It looks amazing & expensive. 2. There wasn't a million steps. I think some diy stuff has gotten a little extra lately. 3. It's totally affordable. I don't want to dupe something if I'm only saving a 100 bucks ya know? But this ABSOLUTELY worth the savings. 4. The products don't feel unapproachable. 5. Which just sums up everything, this feels totally doable and yet so impressive. I'm absolutely going to try and recreate for my daughter's nursery.

    If you use a clear rather than satin coat, the grain of the wood will really pop and move. You can easily get a more satin sheen with a fine steel wool if you want to, or you can second coat with satin. You can always go more satin but you can't go more clear, especially on a detailed piece like this. Satin is clear coat (gloss) with a fine powder added. Have sculpted many furniture pieces and walls using plaster relief techniques in a coinage style. Really love the idea of the two part with its adhesive qualities.

    Wow this looks amazing. I always use polycrylic on my stuff. Dries super fast and clear I don't like the way polyurethane turns yellow.
    Great job though! 👍👍

      It's not clay, it's epoxy clay. It does stick to anything. BJD collectors use it to stick to resin, others to plastic.

      @@KathleenVOTES you could screw it to the wall through the back to be sure. A lot of Ikea furniture has that option

    Maybe add butterfly drawer pulls? I like the leaf idea but that was needed in the pre-planning. The butterflies can be put where you want, after the fact. Or add a few small butterflies to tie the piece together.
    Beautiful work. God bless.
