Minimalist Homeschool Set-Up | Homeschool Organization For Small Spaces

  • I haven't always been minimalist when it comes to our homeschool set-up. In years past, when we were living in our home in the city, I had all of our homeschool stuff in the dining room taking up way too much space in multiple bookcases and cubbie bins. While it did keep everything in one place, I didn't love how much space we had to dedicate to ALL of the homeschool things. After getting my feet wet with homeschooling, I also realized that it doesn't take much stuff to have a productive homeschool. Also, here on the homestead, we actually have much less space in our living and kitchen areas, so getting creative with how I use our space is a must. Over time, my style and preferences for organizing have become much more minimal and I think that the results of this type of clutter-free living help us all to feel more relaxed and productive with our daily homeschool lessons.

    So refreshing to see a homeschool living room that’s not cluttered and calming to walk into. Thank you for the share.

    I love it. I always get overwhelmed by watching other videos and the ridiculous amount of staff some other homeschooling moms get!

    This is where I would love to be. When we first started HS I thought I needed the 🌎. As I'm growing in confidence, I'm realizing that I don't need all of the extra fluff

    I totally thought the bookshelf was a part of the built-in kitchen. What a great find!!!! The cd player=YES!!!

  • @adventureswiththemacs8066

    We also do most of our book work in the kitchen. No room for a homeschool room. Also the kids will spread out in the living room or the basement

    I watched your video when it came out and had to come back and watch. We have a simple set up but trying to be even more minimal with what we have out. You have great ideas

    This is beautiful and inspiring for sure! I have a TON of school books from real living books on my shelves along with other school curriculum and it can look so cluttered. One thing I am planning on doing in my small space is to cover the books in strong white paper and then laminate over the covers to not only protect them better but to make them look nicer on the shelves. Sometimes I find in my home at least all the different colors of the books makes it seem more cluttered. Maybe that’s just me though. I currently do something similar to you though…I have one bookshelf dedicated to the books we are currently using for the school year. With my school books I am by far not a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination, but I have made great strides to be in other areas of my life. Long way to go though! Goals!

    I love minimalist homeschool spaces, but I can't help but feel like people intentionally leave stuff out to make it look EXTRA minimal.. You really don't use ANY kind if manipulatives? No puzzles and games? No art supplies? It's beautiful yes!! But I want to see how you actually store all your homeschool supplies! Storing books is easy.. Show me how to beautifully display/store manipulatives and art supplies!

    • @KDAlaska
      @KDAlaska Před rokem +2

      I can answer for my own minimal homeschool. We do games, art, puzzles and nature collecting but I don't keep our art supplies for school separately from the regular art supplies. We have a shelf in our garage that all our art stuff, bubbles, chalk, all the paint, the drop cloth, etc is stored. The kids can use it at any time. The same for our school games and puzzles, they just go in the game closet no matter the type of game it is. My kids are 12 and 14 so we don't have many manipulative anymore but even when they were smaller we didn't have more than a basket full honestly.

      Thanks for your input. I'm a first time mom and this approach of having less is so appealing for it's light burden. Not only is minimalist simple cleaning, it's also more economical and stress free. I am in the process of researching what our ancestors used for manipulatives, phonics, and stem. I'm sure it's going to be a lot of pencil, paper, nature walks, and imagination. Kind of like Anne of Green Gables minimal.
