Great video and thanks for the shout out for the thumb screw tip! :) We've used our tent a few times now and love it as well!
On the updated aeroflap attachments, I created a service ticket requesting the updated pieces and my local service center was able to swap the parts out for me. It's much easier than even the thumb screws now.
Also, if you plan to do much camping in warm or cold weather, you should take a look at what the team at Campstream is doing. I've been working with them on a product for the Cybertruck and just finished some late stage prototype testing last weekend. It made camping in 85 degree weather with 90% humidity much more comfortable.
Looking forward to seeing your follow-up videos!
We have seen interesting climate control options from Anker and Ecoflow. Perhaps we will be able to find time for related productions this summer. We've scheduled a service appointment with Tesla to get the Aero Cover upgrade to spring clips and the estimate for the work is $55. Thank you. -Producer Tim
3:40 Ask Tesla to give you the new cover, they revised it and it now snaps in/out without fasteners.
Yes. We published this video with a link in the description to the Tesla tutorial which shows the upgraded spring clips.
Our VIN is around 3600 and we had the tent installed only ten days ago. We aren't sure why we didn't get the aero revision. We contacted Tesla to get the spring clips installed. The appointment has been set and the cost to us will be $55.
@2:27 You both have great problem solving skills..... inspirational stuff! Saves Time x2!!
We are happy to hear this video has been informative and helpful. Thank you for watching and commenting. -Producer Tim
Tent needs the pump built in that you just plug into the outlet and hit inflate and it automatically maintains the proper pressure including air mattress.
My Rivian has a compressor and hose attachment in the bed. It would be a great solution :)
@@MissGoElectric thinking the tent base itself needs an integrated electrical plug which powers integrated pump for tent and mattress, usb outlets, mattress heating pad, overhead lights and small fan
All of those suggestions were made by Miss GoElectric in this video as well. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectric Should have been obvious right?
Great ideas and practical manufacturability do not often reside in the same reality. Timelines and costs prohibit many of the best ideas from coming to light. We understand the alternative truck tents are subject to fewer dimensional constraints compared to the Cybertent. We have such high appreciation for the stowage position beneath the tonneau cover, that we are willing to accept some limitations. -Producer Tim
Wow a super thorough review! Great job as always!
We look forward to producing more. Thanks for watching and commenting. -Producer Tim
Excellent review - fair & balanced as always.
Thank you for your viewership and encouragement. -Producer Tim
Nice review. Thanks!
Thank you
Perhaps a good first try but it seems like a little more engineering required to be as user friendly as it should be.
Even though we received Basecamp less than two weeks ago, there does appear to be an aero cover update which replaced bolts with a spring cover. Our vehicle VIN is around 3600 and we aren't sure when that part became integrated. That would be very helpful. We linked to an official tutorial video on our description which shows that.
Thanks for watching!
-Producer Tim
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it. We hope you'll subscribe for more. -Producer Tim
Awesome
Its fun. Thanks for commenting.
Congratulations On Your Tesla Cybertruck Cybertent
We hope you found this coverage informative and will consider subscribing for more. Thanks for watching and commenting. -Producer Tim
Great video. You can turn on tent mode in the app it’s under controls
Thank you for watching.
Tent mode is not listed on our app under controls, even when the aero cover is removed. It would be great if they'd do that...especially bed light control. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectric try controls, then swipe up on bottom section it should be under there towards bottom
Holy moly! Swiping up was news to us. Super cool. We have eliminated the references in this video to those features we wanted which were actually there the whole time. Thank you. -Producer Tim
Just an FYI: the tent is now called the Cybertent. Thanks for the video.
It is hard to keep up with them. The video still says basecamp but they've updated the description. We will update our thumb and name for searchability. Thank you for this heads up! -Producer Tim

Tesla Cybertruck 😍😍
It's weird and fun.
@@MissGoElectric and expensive ( for me ) 😮💨😪
Excellent review, and great setting!
Thank you! It was a great camp site. We drove 80 miles round trip to the site and powered our bikes and production equipment using the truck for a few days. We used 22% of the battery in total.
-Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectric Thanks Tim. Cybertruck looked quite the useful machine. Inflating the tent partially with the available power sounds promising, and VERY interesting about the ability to use with extender. Look fwd to more offroad/camping content.
Excellent video, fair and balanced and gives real life use case and troubleshooting. Yeah it’s $3K but it’s a car accessory not just a “tent”.
Often when I go camping it is damp, raining, and/or windy. How well do you think the cybertent will hold up to adverse conditions? Based on your assessment of the thickness and quality, and whatever other attribute you have more experience with on the tent.
One of the final remarks in this video from MGE was related to her confidence in the materials and that it will do well in rain. As she said, we'll definitely post again when we use this in rainy weather. Thank you for watching and commenting. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectric thanks! I watched until she closed with drive, fly, ride, and didn’t hear anything about rain. Maybe because I was multitasking? Anyway, great video as always. Looking forward to the next episode of the Current.
The mention is at 15:01
Starlink! An integrated version would be very cool ;)
There is 48v power on the Cybertruck roof, intended for the light bar option. Elon said a backpack Starlink receiver is in development. We hope the two will be compatible. -Producer Tim
I'm from Michigan also and mine is in route any day now I'm so anxious should I pull the trigger or wait
We hope our work has been a helpful source of information for you. -Producer Tim
Just in time for summer… I guess this base tent will suffice until you get your Lightship…? BTW, did you have the recall performed on your Cybertruck when you were at that service center? I've gotta say: my Lees-sure Lite camper didn't have any complications that you describe. Of course, it cost a couple thousand MORE!
Exactly! I think we will still mix up our camping options though when we get our electric travel trailer. We have orders on the Pebble and the Lightship, but there is nothing like a solid backpacking trip in nature :)
The Franklin Tesla Service location had our truck but there is no rivet in the pedal. We don't know if they needed to do anything to our VIN, but we understand the nature of the original pedal cover adhesion concern. Our guess is that the affected models were identified with greater isolation and our 3600(ish) VIN is not subject to the recall. We've received no notifications. We also know that any depression of the brake pedal results in the cutting of all power to motors.
An update about complications, the later VIN Cybertrucks do not use bolts on the aero cover. There is a spring clip now. We've linked to a Tesla Tutorial video which visualizes the simplified solution. Where do you like to camp with your Lees-sure Lite camper?
-Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectric Hmmm. I've camped at McWilliams campground on Mt. Charleston (above Las Vegas); Valley of Fire; Kodachrome Basin; Pine Valley several times. Gotta do more, but first I have to get a trailer hitch for my new EV.
@11:23 _Return To Render_
I am still happy with the CYBERTENT.... l'd have to experience the $3K price 'value' first hand(touch). Can't wait to do so when CT comes to Oz,
There are few automotive OEM accessories as bespoke and elaborate as the Cybertent on the market for today. We are glad Tesla made it a reality. -Producer Tim
I was impressed (as you were) with how much of the storage space was preserved with the tent in BOTH stored and deployed modes. Clearly a LOT of time was spent on space utilization. When those 3 large totes slid out from under the unit … nicely done!
It is incredible how much stuff we can pack in the Cybertruck! Before we had the tent installed, it was a huge benefit for us to have the triangle shape of the tonneau design because it provides significant height near the back glass for taller items. I didn't realize how much that extra space would be utilized but we have really taken advantage and it is one of my favorite things about the Cybertruck when it comes to usability.
The rear seats fold upright as well, creating a high volume of in-cabin space for more sensitive items such as computers, camera gear, and lighting equipment.
Thanks for this detailed review.
You are welcome. We hope you'll subscribe for more. -Producer Tim
It’s like Tesla never actually tried using the thing before selling it. So many obvious improvements are needed
The aero cover on Cybertrucks produced today have a spring clip and no longer use bolts. We've linked to a tutorial video they've published showing that improvement. Tesla has a good track record for constant and rapid improvement. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectric No doubt there will be numerous revisions, just would have been nice had they done more diligence about everything pre-launch. None of this is hard to identify to anyone who has used it even once.
What is hard to identify are the dimensional, cost, and timeline constraints for this product and the teams responsible. Unknowns regarding production volume and take rate also greatly reduce the possible feature set. We are happy that Tesla made the effort to produce this, and the dozens of other accessories. It will be fun to see their expansion as well as third party offerings as the total addressable market of Cybertruck owners grows. - Producer Tim

The after market accessories for cybertruck is gonna be crazy…I think the tent was an after thought for Tesla…

Proof that it was not an afterthought:

@@MissGoElectric You are very welcome 🙏🏻. I see nothing but bitchy comments on most other channels where everyone is against Elon and everything that he has touched. I see many anti-ev comments everywhere, especially with the rise of those that follow a certain politician who says that all subsidies will end.
So you're paying 10-20x the price of a normal tent in order to have a slightly more level surface (in a smaller space) and some night lights from the truck bed? 99% of camp sites I've ever been to are level enough already. Also at the same time you're sacrificing storage space in the bed and the ability to depart during the day without having to break down camp.
Is that your assessment?
-Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectricYes Tim, that’s why I wrote it. Let me know where I’m off base. I understand everyone has different things they prioritize when spending money. I’m just trying to understand how this is a better option than a traditional tent. Thanks
Tent mode negates terrain inclines and the platform is always smooth. The Cybertent is off the ground, making rain or water pooling inconsequential. This tent can be deployed and secured on rock surfaces, ice, and sand. Traditional tents secured with stakes do not hold well on those surfaces. Much of this tent is below the truck bed's ridgeline.
We think that will result in consistent superior stability in very high wind scenarios.
Those are among the reasons we might choose to sleep in this instead of our backpacking tents. -Producer Tim
Ok so based on that it sounds like the tent has advantages in an over landing scenario at a non-prepared camp site. It would be great if you could show the tent and truck in that context. Your video appears to be at a flat, well prepared campground. In my opinion, there is no need for an elevated tent in the scenario you filmed.
This video is an initial shakedown as stated during the introduction. We hope the details provided will be helpful to the thousands of viewers as they seek information. We are confident that other videos in different environments will be published by many different kinds of people. We hope you will find what you are looking for. -Producer Tim
Deadblow hammer not sledgehammer
That is a crucial distinction which drastically affects the story. Thank you for your wisdom. Please accept a thousand apologies for this catastrophic grievous error. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectric My pleasure. I will find the grace to forgive you this time.
If you are willing to pay $100k for a refrigerator on wheels, then $3k for a (not fully baked) tent is a no brainer. Seriously thought, nice review (not sure about that coffee maker though, as I'd need about 5 of those cups)
We have a Tesla Model S and a Rivian R1T, but the Cybertruck does a few things better than either one of those.
The Outin Nano can make about four cups of espresso on one charge. That's a lot of caffeine!
Thank you for watching and commenting!
-Fridge Driver and Producer Tim
Why should they improve anything? We'll all buy it anyway.
Clown, why would you think Tesla won’t improve? Improvement is their culture.
They are pretty great at shipping early and iterating afterwards. We had a great time with Cybertent and we are confident they'll keep on improving. They've already added spring clips to aero covers on newer Cybertrucks...removing the need for bolts. We've included a video showing those in our description.
Thanks for watching and commenting!

Seems appropriate. :D :D :D
If we fools run out of money, we will either eat the tent...or sell it. We will be sure to seek financial advice from the comments section...because that is where the true sages lurk.

@@MissGoElectric LOL!!! Good response Tim. ;)
Mr. Elon Musk should buy Canoo or buy a controlling half and put someone good in the front seat to drive the company well. it will or could be another Division of Tesla. Food for thought. Can people comment to tell me if it will be a good idea or bad. What's your opinion?
Tesla has a van design in the bag. Maybe we will see it on August 8.
Canoo doesn't appear to have anything Tesla needs.
-Producer Tim
As you know Tim, Tesla is so far ahead of the pack, you gonna need a _TESLASCOPE_ to 'see who's on second'
_Actually, 'Watts On Second'_
( Abbot and Costello )
In many ways, Tesla is ahead of US competitors. Globally, leadership is mixed depending on the metric. -Producer Tim
You can camp a whole 80 miles away and pray you have enough juice to come back home the next day. That is not camping. I go 200 miles off grid. No cell service no gas no chargers. Then I drive 200 miles back. I'd like to see any ev do this task. 50 percent off road.
There are power outlets everywhere. They are far more common than gas stations. This truck can charge up using any 100v or 220v outlet. It can also accept energy from 109,000 EV specific available power dispensers.
It is quite difficult to find a place in the USA which is more than 200 miles from any kind of electrical outlet.
This fall, an extended battery comes to the Cybertruck which enables about 500 miles of range compared to the 320 it currently delivers with the all terrain tires as equipped.
With Information,
Producer Tim
This Tent is a major fail by Tesla, so bummed by the lack of features and innovation.
Making it fit and work was surely expensive to develop. It is completely bespoke and incompatible with any other truck on the market. Total addressable market limits return on investment. For now, the pool of Cybertruck owners is small.
Thank you for sharing your views.
-Producer Tim
3k on this stupid tent is just insane.
WILD!
Yes it is if I was to spend 3k on an tent that mf better come with a toilet and bathtub and Wi-Fi n five rooms and a laundry room n living room n shower n kitchen matters installed in the tent and a ps5 etc
You might be surprised to learn that low end truck tents with no special features start around $1500. Many at this level of quality are about $2500. While this is definitely expensive, the premium paid is probably more like $500-$750 to have it fit perfectly within Cybertruck's structure. -Producer Tim
@@MissGoElectric i get that "trunk tents" are expensive, but truck tents are kinda stupid to begin with is my point.... just to be off the ground ? a nice on-ground tent is much more practical and totally fine with me. the "campers" who require a truck tent arent really the kind that are into camping in the first place.
There are those among us who will have every tool in the toolbox, even though they could get by with fewer tools.
This is not either/or. We will continue to backcountry camp and mix in some of this, too. We will also camp in an RV sometimes, and stay in hotels other times. We understand that variety is not for everyone. -Producer Tim
