He has said of his engineering refinement style, remove parts until it doesn't work, then add them back until it does. As he has done with Twitter/X and within his other organizations, he razed the structure completely and then rebuilt with necessary components. A small number of crucial Supercharger team members have returned. Most of the team which was laid off (including top leadership) remains laid off. Bloom might have nice altruistic ideals and goals, but does not, and cannot, change the huge disparity of the cost of making eBike parts, much less complete eBike competitively in the USA. And while the car guys can and have added robot arms for painting, welding and assembling cars, bike are, so far, relegated to hand assembly. (perhaps a cast, snap together plastic bike in the future?)

Could this be happening: Consumers: "Hello salesperson, can you tell me why I might want an EV and what is involved with ownership?" Salesperson: "No thanks. I don't really understand it and EVs don't produce much service revenue for us. Please buy ICE or hybrid." -Producer Tim

@@MissGoElectric Doubtful, since the idea of specialized dealers spending 1/2 to 1.2 $ million, & additionally training and "certifying" sales people to sell EVs was specifically designed to alleviated your scenario. Ford saw what happened to VW in Europe, so they specifically instituted this to circumvent it. Not mentioned, they were also forbidden to play pricing games and mandated to sell at the sticker price. This provision is also now gone, so more like my scenario.

They know their time is drawing to a close - the recent open letter from HAIG partners who represent dealerships across the US is an admission that they want to talk peace - whether or not it is genuine remains to be seen but I'd vote NO to such a proposal if ever presented. If anyone actually dove into the open letter, it detailed the potential 'benefits' for Tesla...and it also let out a few secrets (although I'm pretty sure we had some idea about this...) purporting that Tesla could sell their cars for 10% more...but charge parts for 30% more... And how does this benefit the average consumer, laying on non-value added surcharges... 🤷🏻‍♂

The charge point operators which buy the hardware from a third party and hire another third party to do the installation have no chance of reaching parity with the profit generated by a vertically integrated operator like Tesla. -Producer Tim

I've read every book written about him and I've listened to every word of just about every interview. For decades he has demonstrated and espoused the virtue of wiping clean the slate and adding back only the necessary compnents. He does it with organizations *and* the products which he controls. His methods have yielded unprecedented success in several sectors and are a thru line which can be criticized... but the results cannot be denied. We understand that his choices are probably shocking to those viewing business through the lens of empathy for hundreds of affected employees. @MissGoElectric I've often remarked that many of the interests involved in ev charging are poorly suited to making it work, or even feature conflicts of interest to WANT it to FAIL. For example oil companies, legacy auto, or even just Independent companies focusing on charging (who don't want it to fail but poorly suited to make a profit). For this reason I really think there are 3 origins of a good and potentially money positive charging Infrastructure: 1. Exclusively ev based companies (as seen with Tesla) 2. Local electricity utility companies who already make money by directly selling electricity without a middleman 3. Government based programs. For whom profit isn't necessary but who are doing this for the many benefits to society this transition yields. I hope to see more from those 3. Indeed, a group like IONNA but of ev only companies supported with huge federal funds would inspire more confidence than legacy auto.

When he was saying "You led us Mary", I was thinking of how GM crushed the EV1s. Say what you will about Elon, but if it weren't for him and Tesla, EVs wouldn't be nearly as popular.

Also GM sold ev1 when no one else was making EVs.

Some of the public messaging from politicians around EVs is cringeworthy. Ironman: Mary was not in charge when EV1 was built and the program was terminated. -Producer Tim

At the moment, there are many EVs leading for $140-$250, but not many comparable gas powered vehicles. We think buyers are generally not aware of how good the deals have gotten. -Producer Tim
