I really like this editing a lot better
CORRECTIONS:
- At 3:55 I accidentally left the wrong name in the text, as that should read Tsutomu Shibayama instead. Apologies! (Thanks to Brundelkarf for pointing this out!)
- I mentioned that Part 1 Episode 9 adapted its second half from the pilot film, but actually it was Episode 8.
Hope you enjoy the new editing style! Went back to something a little more classic, which will hopefully be easier to watch. This should be the style going forward, as I think it communicates everything fairly well, isn't hard to edit, and makes for fast rendering times!

I am currently watching it an really enjoy it but there is an editing mistake in 3:55-4:00, where the Name for Shibajama (Hopefully written right XD) is said to be Osumi.
@@Brundelkarf D'oh, must have missed that! Thanks for the correction!

How about Lupin the 3rd Part V?
I've never been an anime guy, tried watching many that have been recommended to me throughout the years but never got into any of them. I was introduced to Lupin III through your retrospective on the main channel and it has been the only one I've really connected with so far. I love it now and have you to thank for that. So I just wanted to say thank you and let you know I'm looking forward to following the future updates on this channel as you cover the series!
finding a whole channel about lupin makes me so happy!!! it’s one of my favorite franchises thank you for making this!
You might wanna take a look at this channel's most recent comunnity post before you let yourself get too hyped.
@@d-manthecaptain1382 aw man this keeps happening to me:(
thx for telling me tho better than getting hyped and let down
Dang, when you said the pilot filmed could be streamed buy only in Japan, I was half expecting you to start an ad for Express VPN.
Also, neat to hear that Lupin VIII project is available to view. That’ll make that video more interesting.
I'm really looking forward to looking at Lupin VIII again! That's a fascinating little side project to me
Like everyone else says the editing is great! Great start to this new version of the retrospective. This gave me a newfound appreciation for the Pilot Film.
Your editing on this one was very nice, as long as it doesn't cause issue this presentation looks like the best way to go. Look forward to the next video.
The only issue I can think of is if the greyscale / newsprint effect for clips isn't enough to get past copyright claims for other Lupin media. I actually wanted to show footage of the Big X opening but that was claimed as well, even with the effects. Still, I think this baseline is solid enough so that it won't be a huge problem!
As far as early adult-oriented anime, Tezuka made a trilogy of films (Cleopatra, 1001 Nights and Belladonna of Sadness) which were released in the late 60s through early 70s. Those are the earliest I can think of.
Adult-oriented anime didn't really seem to take off until the OVA boom of the 80s.

Ah! The Masaaki Osumi brothers!
If you want my opinion, you got the editing style down to a T. I think it’s a great balance of the original style with some elements with the later style. I’d love to see this style continue from here on out.
The only little nitpick I can even think of is that you didn’t mention that Nachi Nozawa (Lupin in the Cinemascope version) voiced Pycal in “Return to Pycal”. But to be fair, though, the less we talk about that one, the better
This has also had a fan dub that's pretty decent.
I really appreciate the shoutout!
@@adozenfridays You're very welcome! It's a really unique project!
Nice, Im really glad you made a seperate channel for this
i watched it today and that one scene was a shock

@@d-manthecaptain1382 Alright!😁
If anyone out there has access to a DVD copy of the Discotek release for Series 1 you can also see both versions of the pilot film that way. (It's not on the bluray version, sorry 🫤)
