I was such a Phila Warriors fan! Lynn Congelton, Buddy Atkinson, Butch Macrae, Judy, Dru, Lil Yvonne and Richard. We would go to the game and then come home and watch.

Back in the early 70's (I am from New York).I used to watch the Warriors on UHF Channel 47.I remember letting me stay up on school night to watch the Philadelphia Warriors, was a big fan of the Warriors and Judy Arnold.Because it was on UHF we had to have a special aerial and the pciture loads of snow, if you know what I mean.

Nice video with Dick Lane announcing. Being from the East Coast, I remember Judy and the Warriors very well. What a great and talented team that was! Some of the best games I remember were when the T-Birds came East to skate the Warriors! I can't imagine Judy Arnold skating redshirt, but then a job's a job!

Thanks much for posting this! My dad used to take me to the roller derby here in L.A. in the late 60s and early 70s. The best matches were at the Olympic Auditorium in Downtown L.A. Many fun memories.

@@lasktdave So sad to read. Lost to history forever. Is their any existing footage at all of Joanie skating as a Thunderbird?

@@TheVerbalVolley again nothing. The only TBird video I have from then has Margie Lazlo on the them. It's kind of sad because they barely used her. Going from being the captain of the S.F. Bombers to just another skater must have been frustrating. Things like that are why the Derby skaters quit so quickly. Tony Roman's son said that his dad quit when he was told to skate slower.

@@lasktdave So sad. Roller GAMES should have been dissolved, not Roller DERBY. The Derby was without the theatrics & ridiculousness of Roller Games. It was great skating, with great defense, etc.. I saw where Roller Games had final scores of like 102-97, while the Derby's final scores for both teams were usually in the thirties. Roller JAM also blew it, by eventually resorting to the same theatrics that Roller Games had. They should have stuck with the Derby way of skating. The only reason Roller DERBY dissolved was not because of a lack of fan support (I attended the last Roller Derby matches skated at Madison Square Garden, which held 20,000 fans). Expanding the league to six teams (with one team skating red one day, and white very next night), as well as the resultant increase in expenses, especially in terms of transportation, was the real reason the DERBY died a sad and tragic death during it's zenith circa 1971 or 1972.

During commercial breaks this announcer would sell fishing gear for one of the TV sponsors.
