    This is good news! Old series didn’t have 18 episodes per season. Shows that go over around the 13 episode mark, you start getting filler episodes.

      False. Many good written shows have 13+ episode seasons where there's no filler. Lost, The West Wing, Agents of Sheild, etc have almost no filler episodes and are all 20+ Seasons

      As long as the story is good. Would rather have 13 great episodes than more episodes with fillers or duds. But hey if the story justifies it make sure all 18 are great.

    I never wanted 18 episodes. I'm glad it's less episodes. I'd like 8-10 45 minute episodes being listed as 53 minute episodes cause of the credits. That's my ideal scenario.

  • @squishybuspr

    I really wish Disney and or Marvel would stop giving people trivial updates on whatever it is their working on and just finish their movies and shows and put them out. This is how companies fall into the “we’re way too online / twitter brain” trap and start reacting to “online discourse” every step of the way to their own detriment. Just shut up and make quality stuff. It’s not worth doing vibe checks every 2 seconds. That often leads to self-sabotage.

  • @ryhanon7
    @ryhanon7 Před 7 měsíci +4

    It's going to be 13 episodes on a dramatically reduced budget because they already burned so much of it on the version they scrapped. If this show still manages to be good after all this it'll be a minor miracle. They seem to be taking the right steps - but I'm having a hard time overcoming my skepticism.

    They only had time to shoot 6 out of the 18 between start date and when the strikes stopped production. They are re-using those episodes as reports have said, plus additional scenes to be shot and a new 1st episode, so it's not cost so far quite as much as people think. They restarted shooting today.

    • @adle2347
      @adle2347 Před 7 měsíci

      @@carlfrancois6334 it's street level and practical, not CGI or set driven. it won't cost them anywhere near as much per episode which is why they could do 18, and they appeared to be shooting nearly as fast as the original DD. They will still have had to buy out contracts, two lots pre-production so they have definitely made those episodes cost more. The shorter season may make that up.

  • @gonzo0626900

    Honestly, I felt with every single Netflix Marvel show, that the 13 episode seasons were just a little bit too long. I think with 10 episode seasons most of the shows would have been just a little bit tighter. I remember being at episodes 6 and 7 of DD, Punisher, Luke Cage and feeling like the season is coming to a close beforerealizing that it's just half way through. I don't think I can do a 18 episode overarching story. If they were to do mostly standalone episodes, procedually with a minimal story arc I could get on board with 18 episodes.

    My fear (well, one of my fears) was that the episodes would only be 25-35 minutes or so. I'd rather have the Netflix model with maybe a few less episodes. I personally liked everything about that show so I would love that count but there was some filler not everyone liked. I couldn't get enough of those 3 seasons. I didn't like that show because of the character so much as it was just well written and executed.

    I actually kinda like this news, when they announced it was gonna be 18 episodes I thought that was kinda excessive, and it had me thinking that we were only gonna get a bunch of tiny 20 minute episodes, but 13 definitely sounds like the sweet spot for me because it’s not as beefy as it was originally but it’s also still longer than the previous MCU Disney+ shows, based on everything that’s happened with this show with them scrapping most of it and going back to the drawing board it sounds to me like this is a show that they looked at the original version of, decided it wasn’t very good and so they’re going back and trying to give us something better, the World War Z example is great because when I heard what they originally had in mind it sounded weird as fuck, but after they went back and redid it we got, not one of the greatest zombie movies but a solid, entertaining one, and so maybe that’s what’s happening here, that they were originally going in a very bad, very bizarre direction with the story and so they decided to pull the plug on it and redo it, who knows? They might’ve originally had an idea that was too ambitious for their own good so they decided to tell something more streamlined, this show could be a disaster for all I know but I’m still faithful that they’re trying to turn out something great because they know how much people want this show to be great

    You wouldnt get shit for hiring a white tony stark or having a mostly white male team so you could do comic book acurate stuff.

    You only had spidey bats and xmen films tp compete with

    Now I understand and get that people's memory is super short so I'll be the one to drag ur memory....what's going on with the MCU is not Kevin Feige fault remember after endgame and such Bob Chapek became CEO and what did he do that's right he took creative control from the creatives and place some of his buddies in there and then order a ramp up of content from marvel which stretched Kevin Feige thin...what's going on now is Kevin Feige being brought back down and creative control being place back in the creatives hands content being chop and back to being more focus...of course there's going to be effects from those changes before Iger took back control and after but please dig in those brains I know nobody is saying all this is Kevin Feige fault but this is why the MCU is where it is right now as far as seeming to have lost its unique and special glits to it....by the way people should stop celebrating 18 or 13 episodes daredevil and focus more on how long are each episodes going to be.

      we can't ONLY blame Chapek for this, Disney Plus was Iger's baby, and as a reminder, Bob Chapek was made CEO on February 25th 2020, but at SDCC in 2019 was when Marvel announced the following: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If?, Hawkeye. And a month later at D23 2019 they announced Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk. The initial push of a glut of Marvel and Star Wars shows for Disney Plus came from Iger. and I think that IF everything had been top quality, and IF we didn't have a pandemic derail the MCU freight train of momentum from one project to another, it would have been far more successful and nobody would be talking about Marvel fatigue.
