- This Radica Golf game was part of a job-lot from eBay. Everything in it was sold as faulty!
Let's get this thing working again!
Hope you enjoy!
Steve

Stupid Radica Golden Tee Golf Thing
How did you get so lucky. I bet you thought you would be up all night for the fun or sun? LUCKY.😀
i've got one of these. GTG is ace. its not a great version, purely because it misses out the really snarky annoucer voice over. " its in the drink"
I read that as GoldenEye golf and thought it was based on James Bond's retirement years
*GET IN!*
I was a bit surprised you bodged the wire externally, instead of just rewiring inside the unit
Your videos inspired me to bid on a junk auction for my dream guitar, and I was able to repair it. Here's a sincere thanks from Texas.
Nice bro! Congrats from Houston 🤘🏻
I hope it was a BC Rich
That's fantastic, dude! Very well done indeed!
Thanks, y'all. It's a Casio EG-5, the weird one with a cassette player. 😅
Stupid Guitar~
Glad to see your daughter chipping in! 🤣
🤣
😂
My bosses sister was the accountant for the company that created golden tee. The company went from a handful of people to hundreds when Golden Tee became a hit in all the bars. Takes me back to my bar going days.
This is why I love the internet 💀
An utterly random golf gadget being repaired out of a job lot found on eBay and someone who knows the company accountant for a company you’ve never heard of is just in the comments… (assuming you aren’t lying)
Nice Steve! Remember that golf is only a pretentious excuse to drink in public! VOS was awesome today too. 👍
😁 Thanks, Chris!
Used to love playing this in the pub, had no idea they made a home version!
Yeah, I vaguely remember the arcade version but hadn't seen this before either. It's good fun!
Yeah this was a favourite of mine when I was a young en.Good video my man.
@@StezStixFix Almost every sports bar in the US had a Golden Tee.
@@StezStixFix but also, a stupid game .. right ?
"You could say it was....par for the course." -- truly, this caused me pain in some form (haha).
A simple, yet very enjoyable repair to watch (I personally struggle with very fine wires, so really appreciated watching the video cable repair)
Your fix it videos always make me laugh . Not only are they instructive, I appreciate your sense of humor. Keep them coming ! I’ve been with you since less then 5000 subscribers and I’m really happy to see how much your channel has grown!
When ever you splice multi-conductor cable, always stagger the splices by the length of each splice. That way the total thickness will be the thickness of the original cable plus one splice. It will barely be bigger than the cable originally was.
Love it, and at least it wasn't another USB or HDMI port.
I love that CZcams hit me with multiple ads for golfing in Calgary during this video. I don't golf. I'm not in Calgary.
Nice! A bit of a tip on fixing cut cables I picked up somewhere. You don't cut both of the smaller cables in parallel but offset instead, so your heatshrinks won't be piled up together but one after the other, resulting in a much less bulkier fix in the cable radius. If you have room for it, that is.
Fuckin' genius! I'm stealing this idea.
I personally would have removed the damaged part of the cable from the mainboard, fiddled the good part through the protector and then soldered that to the mainboard. No heatshrink needed at all and considering the damaged part of the cable was so close to the protector, nobody would have noticed 5 or 10 centimeters missing.
@@MyRegardsToTheDodo putting aside that it sounds like a lot of work 😋, most protectors are fused to the cable. Aren't they?
@@MisterZealot No, normally they aren't, I've done that to a few older controllers, the cable breaking shortly before the protector is an extremely common problem with OG Xbox controllers for example. And it's really not much more work than what was shown in the video, I mean you have to strip the wires anyways to fuse them together with lead, but you'll also have to use quite a few pieces of heatshrinking tube.
@@MyRegardsToTheDodo Aha. Ok. Guess I never paid too much attention to them and assumed they were fix. Good to know.
The look you give after the pun was perfect.
That was a Grand Par said ,Grandma - nice fix - stupid game
😅
Par for the course…nice. Great work Steve! You need some more challenges.
"Par for the course", that stare got me chuckling. Dad humor is strong with this one.
I liked the little nod to The Stranglers at the end 👏 👏
LET'S GOOO!!!
Hi Stez, any chance of a "champion the wonder horse" as an outro, it would make my day!!
You closed it out with a cover of one of my favorite songs ever. Golden Brown
Golden Brown.... Beautiful song
''Par for the Course'' stares intently freaking hilarious If you ever quit what you doing to go do comedy I'd still be your number one fan.
Love the "Golden Brown" cover at the end.
Pat for the course deserved a like 😂
Music today was 10/10, great work Steve! Say hi to Dave for me
Rap soundtrack is the same one Tito on Retro Renew uses for his outro. You turned it into a full on banger 😂
Just found this gem of a channel and now i can't stop watching!
What a one liner to finish …. Gold 🤣🤣🤣🤣
When you had this open it appeared as if one of the supports for the roller ball was broken inside the console, still very good job, really enjoy your videos.
Golden Tee was the game to play in the 90's. We'd hit the pool hall have some/many 😂 drinks, play pool and Golden Tee!. That was a while ago.
Well I learned something. I've never been good at hearing lyrics, crap actually. So I was very happy to see the line 'with my mind she runs' from Golden Brown, I always thought the song was about machine guns. :D
Keep up the good work! Always a laugh and something to learn
Another great video!! Thank you and keep them coming!!
This was an arcade classic back in the day! Top work as always dude
oh boy that cable soldering gave me the shivers :D
That game wasn’t stupid, you were really enjoying it. 😂
I used to play the arcade version of this at my local arcade. I think it was a newer version as the graphics were way better. Was one of my favorite games to play there
Nicely done Steve!
Love hearing "Stupid Game" always makes my day.
Haven't seen your vids in a bit, but always glad to see you posting x
*awards golf clap of acceptance for the goldblum line lol*
This video was Par for the course. Excellent as always!
It's definitely not a "Stez" video without the "Stupid game"😊
Next career incoming: Golf Pro ! Very well done, thanks
Great fix well done 😊
Just came across your channel. I have absolutely no experience in electrical engineering, but love what you do, and how you do it :) Greetings from Denmark
You put a smile on my face! Thank you!!
That's a great game. Nice fix.
Love the dad jokes xD "Got my daughters toothbrush"
I enjoy watching your videos. I find them informative and fun to watch. my best to dave. Thank you and have a great morning/afternoon/evening = )
Just great, Steve! Nice adapatation até the end! 😂
Waiting for the lyrics to drop to push that 👍 button 👌
That looks fun. Worth replacing the cable with AV jacks to use standard AV cables?
Does this guy rap in all of his videos? That was hilarious and actually straight fire XD
There's never a frown with your golden channel
Never skipping StezStix's rhymes is the only way
Gooood job, damn cords getting caught in crap, great video! And par for the corse was a pretty good dad joke 😂
"Daaaad! My Toothbrush isn't Dirty! Have you skipped work again???"
without SMD soldiering and no SOLID Test this video is only half the genious than others from you
You should clean out the vinegar with a lot of water if possible. The acid is able to eat away the chrome coating of the contacts. To prevent this it should be neutralized somehow as soon as it did its job.
Nice job Steve :)
This looks great to have at home.
Lmao, never change brother, the jokes are part of the experience I wouldn't miss. Keep em comin!
I want this!!! Used to love this game in the pubs in the States
I usually loosen up that kind of strain relief with hot air, then it would be a matter of pulling the cable in to hide the fix, or resolder it internally, on a case by case basis.
yep thats what i would of done
You rock brother!
usually those types of strain reliefs you can desolder the cable from the board, pull the cable through the relief, cut out the damage and then feed the healthy cable back through and resolder to the board for a cleaner repair.
And i thought i cant solder wires 😂 Even master have problem with that. Lot of love Man !! Keep doing what u do !!
Very cool. I picked up one of these faulty units, too. It has battery corrosion, but it seems to be getting power. No video though. I am going to play with it some more to see if I can get it working. If not, maybe I can hack the trackball for something else.
Your Raps are epic mate love em
Good fix Steve, and the world needs more alcohol-> tea song lyric transformations 👍😀
- - - - PAUSE the video @ 12:00 - THAT should be THE NEW CHANNEL PIC!!! lol
Thanks for the video... you ALWAYS brighten up my Saturday's!!! :D
Worse joke ever at the end - did make me chuckle 😂
I like the easy ones , makes me more confident to have a go :)
Steve, one thing I like to do when soldering wires like that is to form hooks in the braided wire (and the shield) then use the hooks to give both sides support. Just folding the wire onto itself for a little bit will make a decent hook and then they can be hooked on the other wire and "handshake" a bit. Twisting them together helps after they're hooked together, as well, then solder and cover with the shrink tubing. Anyways, thx for the video!
Yeah thats the way. Those splices he did wont hold up long!
ive just got home to find id been burgled and then dealing with the police for hours , this has cheered me right up stez watching on my phione as they took my tv 🤣 gotta laugh or id cry thanks for the video mate
nice touch with a bit of stranglers...
Nice work Steve.
Thanks Frederick! 😊
No way. I've been working my way through your videos and I actually have one of these I bought at a bootsale, plugged the wrong power supply into it and it popped. Maybe this video will help me fix it 🤞🏼
Edit - should have watched the video first as I would have realised you don't actually ever look at the board as it was a battery compartment corrosion fix 🙄😄.
Stupid you tube
Par for the course. Quality!!
Usually if you wiggle those supposedly "molded" strain reliefs around you can get the wire sliding in it. The better way to handle this guy would have been to do that and pull 2" of wire back into the box and make new internal connections. But what do I know.
Head shrink tubes are the bandaids of cables
What a classic game, now I need to hunt mine out of the loft
I have one of these, one of the inexplicable mainstays of pubs around here were goldentee arcade machines..
In it’s time this was a great little game with a cool controller.
I successfully replaced the tiny batteries in my Bluetooth headphones using my mates setup that is similar to yours. We are both inspired by your repairs! ps: my soldering was average
Awesome music again!
Guys, what does Mr. Oizo mean?
(Thank you for the video, Steve)
Another *SOLID* video
I usually use 1 to 5% sollution of TCA or TFA in water, works and clean much faster that vinegar
Funny to see the voltage dropping because of bad connections, didn’t know it would have this behavior.
Easy quick fix again Steve 😅 hey can’t you come up with more difficult stuff ? 😁
Oh dear.....proper 'dad joke'!! 😁
Amo tus videos
On only post a video every two weeks now you don't need us. Just be careful Steve. It can change over night
On the cable, I would have cut it like you did, but then open it back up, and solder to the board.
7:39 little water spots inside the casing right before you place it back over top
@cavauro it wouldn't be water, he was using isopropyl alcohol to clean the board. It evaporates in less than a minute after its applied.
I got the same item at a thrift store the other day. batteries were corroded and fuzed. Luckily it didn't eat the contacts too bad. All those plug and play games people always leave batteries in them.
GET IN THERE!!! 😁
Little game pleases great mind
bro your like a gaming god. well game fixing god anyway. !
nice par
