It was many moons ago when I first met Dimitri Diatchenko in Los Angeles, CA. One of our first outings was a concert he gave in Santa Monica. He played Blue Chile and spoke so highly of you. It was one of my favorite compositions he played. Very tasty work! Nice to hear/watch you play it today. Thank you, Michael.
This is extremely difficult to play with the click..the thought that has gone into this work is beyond words..Michael shows he is at the top of the modern guitar technique with this performance..Wonderful to have the video for study purposes..
This is an amazing piece, Michael never ceases to amaze me. I remember when I watched him live and he came with long hair, raggedy jeans, and bare-footed on stage to play a solo guitar contert. I said to myself "This is going to be a disaster" 😅. Little did I know I was about to witness one of the best concerts of my life on both classical and acoustic guitar. It was an experience I will never forget.
This composition has it all!! Super funky groove, slick melody, sweet harmonics, occasional face melting chops, jazz chord subs, well placed harmony, percussion and AMAZING tone!! You just raised the bar, Mike. :-)
Soooooo smoooooth! Jazzy, bluesy and full of soul. You hit this one right out of the park, Michael. I can't wait for you to come perform somewhere here in New England 'cause I'll be right there in front lovin' it. All the best and thank you.
Absolutely satisfying, Dear Artiste, wonderful Heart & Soul . i miss Taos...i can hear the desert breeze in the space between your chords & notes. i can see the blue NM skies...& feel the heat of those wicked Truchas chiles. You're my favourite new Spirit...Thank You, & Cheers.
Really nice doesn't seem quite adequate anymore after I think about it, maybe: outstanding, great, amazing, hypnotizing, all those positive-adjectives...
You didn't do that funny abracadabra thing you did at the end of More Than Words. I still watch that and it still makes me laugh. You are the most fun guitar player to watch! I loved this. Thanks!
Wow man, I really enjoyed that. There's so much that you did here that I want to mention, like the sliding into chords or playing a note and sliding up and hitting that harmonic or those b string bends that melded perfectly with the groove in the bass line but I think what sealed the deal for me was those long bends you were doing on the a string (there's one at 3:51) and also the tapping section from the intro and throughout the song. Gave this piece a really unique feel. Thank you for posting!
I am a classical guitarist that plays steel strings for services. How do you do your nail? I have acrylics, is that the only way? Love your videos. Keep them coming man!!
thanks E: the sample on the CD page of my site is from the first version of the Land of Enchantment CD, which was on nylon strings and before I really played the piece very well. The current version of that CD is on steel strings and grooves a bit better,
Very nice -- reminds my of the music for small rooms series (not referring to the closet you where playing in before). This piece has a lot of character, is accessible and quirky at the same time which makes sense coming classical to blues, I guess. Keep it up!
Thanks for letting us see how you play it..It looks like every guitar trick there is has been worked into Blue Chile..Very Impressive..As is the guitar you play..very sensitive to the techniques you employ..
love the sound quality of this CZcams recording of Blue Chile...went looking to see if it was available on CD at your site...it's wonderful also, but love the "attack" in this one...you seem more present, more attitude, more landing on top of it here...(is that because the clip on the CD website is taken from the middle?) ...that said, i plan to order the CD...need to listen and let it sink in...so much to hear, layered, complex..
¿A qué hace referencia el título de la obra?...¿Al país llamado Chile, o al ají picante (verdura) llamado "chile"?... De todos modos, es buena la composición y la ejecución.
When are you going to be in Montreal??? You have to be at the Blues Festival!!!! Arrange ça S.V.P.!!! My wife and i will be there and some thousand's of Montrealer's just to keep you warm!!! Believe me!!! Marsh 3968
Thanks for judiciously spicing the performance with tapping and harmonics; not making a performance of just that. It's important to have a real song and everything else is interpretation. Bust out a dazzling tourist when appropriate. It's delicious!
His originals give insights to his understanding of theory and composition in creating these ingenious gems.

Thanks for letting us see how you play it..It looks like every guitar trick there is has been worked into Blue Chile..Very Impressive..As is the guitar you play..very sensitive to the techniques you employ..
That run at 53 seconds blew the skin off my face.
+Rael0505 I know a few plastic surgeons who could help you out with that ;)
+Adam Cantor Cool, think my insurance will cover it?
fancy seeing you here Adam!
+Adam Cantor :-)
Kevin Muiderman, the builder of this guitar is also a plastic surgeon. Really.
Hah, no way! He can help me out too then. Love your stuff Michael. You're incredibly talented.
Michael Chapdelaine Wow, that's incredible! I'm graduating medical school and about to start training as an eye surgeon. This is really inspiring.
Bravo! Saw you do this live in Lafayette, CA! Well done!
Perfect performance:D
Fascinating fingerstyle piece.

Michael, how is the title of this composition related to the country? Or maybe not?
It's about the green peppers that New Mexicans eat tons of.
