I started working at KI in 1972, when I turned 16. Some other extinct rides include: Shake Rattle & Roll, The Flying Dutchman, Bavarian Bobsleds, Galaxy, Cuddle-up, The Whip, Hanna Barbera (boat ride), The Sky Ride, Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal, The Hiking Trail, Canoe Rides, The Rotor and the Dolphin Show. Lion Country Safari arrived a few years later. Remember when the Beast's station house was surrounded by a lake? When I started there, admission was $6 and my hourly wage started at $1.85/hour. I had an 8-Track player in my 1963 Ford Falcon that had no seat belts or reverse lights (gas was 24.9¢/gal). Such happy times...............
Thanks for sharing. I bet you have some good memories working at the park and have seen all the changes over the years. You have practically written my “More Lost Rides” video!
I love how you remember the prices. Gas (petrol for me 🇬🇧) price especially!
Shake rattle and roll is still there and running.
Great memories ! I was a paperboy in 72 at 12 years old. Remember the gas overflowing my 1 gallon gas can for .25 cents !!
Watching "The Ghoul" and Froggy.
Long live "The Beast !"
Were you there for the Brady Bunch filming ?
Don't forget the tumble bug. That was so much fun . It was in coney Island section too.
Riding the front on King Cobra was awesome, probably my all-time favorite coaster.
Oh wow, I bet that was a fun ride!
I could ride that one over and over! Loved it!
Great coaster. My mom and dad used to take me and my siblings to KI every year. 90s and 00s. I miss those days
The bat was my first big coaster in 1981 when I was 7 yrs old at P&G day. I also rode the Beast at night in the pitch black same day. One of the most memorable days of my life with my dad now deceased. ❤️
That must have been an amazing day. I bet you have some special memories of that day with your Dad.
I’d have loved to have ridden The Bat! Luckily I’ve had a night ride on The Beast which is amazing.
Ah yes, Dividend Day, those were great weekends. Had a lot of family working at P&G, it turned into a reunion some years.
You really should add an addendum on flight commander in that the lady fell out because she passed out from being drunk. Had she been in control of her faculties, she never would have slid over to the other side and fell out
Thank you for watching. I appreciate the extra information.
Yeah beer and rides...not good
I remember hearing about this just a month before my family trip to King's Island, it stuck in my head for a long long time
The bat cars flew off the track some people were severely injured and some lost their lives
@@amandag6168this is completely false.
You’ll see a lot of rides from the Brady Bunch episode where they went to Kings Island that aren’t there anymore. Where they lost Dad’s architectural drawings was the canoe ride, that’s where Beast was built later on.
Thanks for the extra detail. What a classic episode! Here in the England it never had widespread broadcast, but I’ve gone back and watched that episode!
Couple of things:
One of the biggest reasons Phantom Theatre closed was because it was maintenance hell. Everyday there were dozens of broken figures, effects, and lighting. And the problem with Scooby’s Haunted Castle was the guns were garbage. 5-10 gun control boards had to be replaced a day, and Sally Rides refused to allow the park to fix the boards, instead they had to ship them to Sally.
Funny thing about SOB, wood coaster maintenance spent millions a YEAR refurbishing the track. The maintenance cost was insane.
Tomb Raider started its downfall a little sooner than most people realize. It never worked properly, running most days at 2/3rds capacity. In 2003, an area manager was on the gondola when it was started, and went through the entire cycle out of a seat, with her arms threaded through restraints. That’s when the loading lights started to stay on until the gondola was up near Shiva’s face.
Additionally, after TR lost the branding, the maintenance division took the step to limit the amount of rotations the gondola performed due to the issues it had since opening. Doing so, however, killed the ride.
Source: ride operator 2002 (SOB/Gun) 2003 (TR) and maintenance 04-06
Thanks so much taking the time to share all this. It’s so interesting to hear about some of these rides. I bet you have a lot of stories from your time at the park.
The odd thing is Son of Beast injured riders then it’s replacement, Banshee, was in an accident just last week. A guest jumped fences to get keys and were struck by the ride. Unfortunately they passed away later in hospital. It wasn’t a design flaw or parks fault but the guests unfortunately.
Thanks for sharing this, what a terrible thing to happen. However rules are there to be followed at parks, I remember times without air gates.
the worst thing is that he was from my city 😔 (i didnt know him but one of my parents' friends did)
Vortex is gone now also :(
So many coasters have come and gone at Kings Island…. But every lost ride is a new video idea. 😄
I don't miss the Vortex. The last couple times I rode iti felt like I was getting socked in the jaw!
@@furball4ever526 I kinda liked the jank of an Arrow looper,
@@dustanglx50 it definitely had it's appeal when I was younger, but once I became an old lady I had to take a pass. This was a fun video to reminisce!
@@furball4ever526I can't imagine riding the Vortex now, just the mere thought makes my back hurt, but I rode it often when I was quite a bit younger.
LOVED Phantom Theater! It was unlike any other ride there. As a bonus, it was THE place to go to cool off. I worked at Kings Island from 2000 - 2002. I worked on the racer, but it was common for rides with extra staff to have an employee or two "sent" to another ride to cover the shortage. Most people would jump at the opportunity to go to Phantom Theater on hot days!
I would love to see a modern remake of Phantom Theatre. It could be amazing!
My dad worked at GE and would get tickets for the park’s discounted GE Days in the 1970s. I loved going. The Twin Racers were my favorite until The Beast came along. I remember walking along the central area with the fountains and shops and going into one that sold freshly baked mini loaves of bread. That must have been in the early to mid 1970s and I don’t think it lasted too many years, but that bread smelled sooo good!
Thank you for sharing this. I love hearing people’s memories and little stories from the park. I always love seeing the footage from the early days of Kings Island when I make these videos. Looks like an amazing time to visit.
Miss firehawk so much was definitely my personal favorite it was so unique and fun and so was the crypt
The Crypt is definitely unique. Creating a dark ride style experience from a top spin is such fun idea.
@@CoasterConnections definitely was one of the best attractions
Small correction: the part of the park containing Flight of Fear and Orion is Area 72, not 71. It's named after the year the park first opened.
Thank you, I appreciate it! Sometimes a small typo makes it into my script!
These incidents are never forgotten and banshee finished the job of hitting somebody, nobody know where the trains are for the son if the beast, but i do know, and they are on flight if fear and if you look on every pov it is hard to see but on the last corkscrew on your left you can see behind fencing, sitting there, a cart from the son of the beast, you will always be remembered
Wow! Thank you for sharing!
Great video! I've been attending Kings Island since the year it opened. My mother pushed me around in a stroller that year at the ripe old age of 1. I've been on every single ride mentioned in this video, plus some others not mentioned such as Tumble Bug, Bayern Curve, The Rotor, Kenton Cove's Keelboat Canal, Sky Ride, Lion Country Safari, Der Spinnin' Keggers. Also. I rode X Flight at Geauga Lake and also at KI as Firehawk.
10 out of 10 on the lost rides is amazing! There are so many other ones past attractions, almost enough to research and record another video.
@@CoasterConnections I wish you would do another video of some of those attractions
Grew up and still live here. Rode The Bat when it was brand new. It was lots of fun and did sort of feel a little “out of control “. When it reopened, it was way slower and boring. I recall that it was usually closed though 🤣🤣
That’s so cool! The Bat one of the rides I wish I had been able to experience. It sounds like opening year was the best, love it when a coaster feels slightly out of control.
I went there so many times. KI thank you for all the memories!
It’s amazing how many people grew up with the park. Thanks for your comment.
Rode The Bat !! And Son of Beast.
The BEAST is still my personal greatest roller-coaster at 64 years of age.
Wow! Amazing that you got to ride both of these!
The Beast is one of my all time favourites, and I finally secured a night ride last year!
I also rode the bat today and holy shit that was awesome
I road beast and son of beast and hatred son of beast it jerked you to much and to hard
Son of Beast was intense to say the least! rode it with loop and later without. It was awesome in the fog, but itd shake your fillings out for sure!
My seven year old was just finally tall enough to ride the beast this year. Her first ride was at at night too, I was so proud.
I am the blonde kid in the front car of the bat, in the very first shot when the video begins. At 45 to 48 seconds. The shot of the front car, I put my hands up with excitement. I always waited for the front. Even if i rode with a stranger. Go look at my picture present day, I remember that I had my hair cut short so I could mousse it straight up in the air and then I put sun in lightener, in my hair, lemon juice and peroxide. I can see the roots were dark in the middle. I was a rocker then and now. I wanted to look like Billy Idol 😂, I was 12-13 then. I am 54 now. And have enjoyed a full and eventful great life. I played music in a local band in my late 20’s. I was in the park with a friend of mine the day the bat derailed. Very sad. It is truly Amazing how I lived long enough to see that day one more time. My cousin is next to me, he had a massive stroke a few years ago and he is not present with us anymore, bittersweet memories. Thanks for sharing. I was floored by my appearance in a random video , that I myself randomly chose . Once in a lifetime occurrence. What are the odds ? Im going to see if i still have an old season pass, If i do , I can try to post it here.
What an amazing coincidence! You sure look like you enjoyed yourself and I bet you have some great memories of growing up with Kings Island and visiting with your family. So glad you spotted yourself in that grainy footage!
That is awesome. But sorry to hear about your cousin. I have live an hour away from KI all my life. I am now 54 years old as well. I feel like I grew up at KI. I remember what it was like back in the day. I will never forget the end of the ride in Hanna Barbera land that snail saying "Have a H H H Happy Day!" I have not been there in years and don't know if I could handle riding now. Ah to be young again!
I miss the king cobra
Still Crazy after all these years!! 54 as well and just rode everything 2 weeks ago! Beast retrack is awesome! My friend Bill Garlough and I were on the Bat when the other train jumped track at the notorious sharp curve to 2nd lift hill... we had to walk down the lift stairs and I still have my "Bat Pass" orange ticket somewhere to let me go through the exit when it reopened.... it never re-opened... Heck, we were probably there together that day on the train! we were somewhere in the middle! Hope to see everyone at the park! Bring positive vibes!
Happy Tuesday,
The same Todd Baker that played drums for Valient???? With Leonard, McCormick, Dylie and Hupp???
I've been on almost as many defunct rollercoasters as regular existing coasters 😂
I should work out my ratio! 🤣
My favorite on this list was Firehawk and my least favorite was son of Beast. I truly feared for my safety when I rode son of Beast
I am still yet to ride a Flying Dutchman like Firehawk, it must be some sort of curse that they are closed whenever I visit!
Out of all the attractions you mentioned in this video, the one I was most familiar with was Son of Beast, which was intended to be the sequel to one of King's Island's most iconic roller coasters of all time: The Beast. Sadly, Son of Beast wasn't as successful, and was replaced with The Banshee. Either way, I never had any interest in riding in a rollercoaster, although the trains on the coasters look cool.
Speaking of trains, without a doubt, my most favorite attraction at King's Island is the KI&MVRR (King's Island and Miami Valley railroad). It has actual steam locomotives, which is awesome, and it's a very relaxing and awesome ride.
The Beast is one of my favourite ever coasters, it’s part nostalgia part enjoyment! I agree with you on the railroad. A visit to Kings Island isn’t complete without a ride!
You didn't miss much with son of beast. It beat you up worse than any other coaster I have been on, gave me a massive headach
Son of beast was brutal. I wrote it once with the loop. It was horrible.
The last time I rode the train was probably around 2001 and it wasn't anything like it was in the '70s and '80s. Made me sad.
My first coaster ride ever was the Beast. It was branded new then. I've ridden many coasters during the years. The Beast is still my favorite ❤😊
The Beast is one of my favourites too. Even today it still beats many of the newer roller coasters.
It's one of the all time great American roller coasters for good reason. Everyone loves it to this day.
I lived 8 miles from KI and I worked in the Bier Gardens in 76'. I was a proud 16 year old that learned to connect 5-6 beer kegs in a series for the stand, nothing like dealing w/drunk adults @ 11am and telling them they are cutoff. We were on downward slope walkway that lead to The Racer and ppl rushed to be 1st in line of the day with many doing a face-plant in front of us. I luv'd The Beast..it racked your body, The Rotor, Bavarian Beetle, The Vortex and many more. Now my old bones say...No Thanks. I do buy passes for my kids and grandkids every year though. Fond memories ❤
...also was working when the guy was killed at the Lion Safari that year.
Thank you so much for sharing your memories. I loved looking through the old footage of the park, but you got to be there.i thought drinking was bad in some parks today, but it sounds like it’s always been the case!
I hope you get to visit with your grandchildren and tell them all about the history of the park.
Your video is very well researched and presented with a great deal of affection. It brought back a lot of great memories of a park I've enjoyed for decades. I hope you get to visit again in the future.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I really love Kings Island. I may not be the best at scripting, voiceover and editing, but I love theme park history and enjoy sharing my passion. Comments like this make my day, so thank you! 😄
Vortex was my fave, followed by King Cobra. KC was short (Like 45 seconds if I remember correctly?) but worth it! Then of course The Beast--I enjoyed that most at night, so cool. Many great memories at KI!! Great video, thank you.
Thank you so much for this! I appreciate the nice comments!
I worked on Top Gun and Son of Beast 2006-2008 and was there the day Son of Beast sent 28 people to the hospital. Our crew worked just Top Gun during 2006 for 3 weeks after but then Top Gun went down for over a week, too.
You must have seen so much while you worked there. I can only imagine being there that day.
In ‘76 my girlfriend, now wife, and I attended the grad night they had for graduating seniors. It started at 11:00 pm and lasted all night. We left at dawn tired but had a great time.
Wow! An all nighter at Kings Island, I would love that!
Some of these rides bring back so many memories.
Thank you so much. That’s why I do videos like this, I love theme park history.
firehawk was such a good ride. I vividly remember somebody throwing up from a seat in front of me while the ride was going and just watching it fall
Son of the beast gave me whiplash when it re-opened without the loop in 2008 that I still feel to this day. Roughest ride I ever rode on.
You are not alone in that opinion!
I was lucky enough to ride the bat and all the rides you mentioned on this list
Wow, that’s great going. Getting to ride The Bat is quite a rare claim!
@@CoasterConnections I unfortunately remember banging my head on the restraints
I helped build son of beast. The design was similar to water cooling towers that you see in power plants. It used polycarbonate bushings that the bolts passed through which was quite strong but the wood was prone to splitting if the bolts were over tightened which was easy to do with power tools so we wound up using ratchets to prevent that problem. Still the joints could split over time. I rode it though so I trusted it to hold just fine.
Wow! You built a piece of Kings Island history. It’s really interesting to read your insight into the construction.
Always love your Kings Island footage. You do it the best out of all the You Tubers who cover Kings Island.
Thank you! Kings Island is one of my favourite parks, so hope I do it justice! I’d love to eventually do a more in depth look at some of its lost rides.
I got to ride Vortex In June 2017 It Was Fun But Rough
Fun but Rough… I know a few rides like that!
RIP- Phantom Theatre, King Cobra, Vortex, Twin Racers. Damn I didn't know they removed fire hawk
So many iconic rides have gone! But I also love some of the newer attractions!
The Smurf voyage was way better than phantom theater. I am prepared to fight anyone on that😛
The tomb, raider ride was really awesome ! Shame it didn’t last longer. This video really brought back some memories.
I’m ready for that fight! 🤣Tomb Raider is one of the lost rides I wish I had been able to ride.
This was a fun little trip down memory lane.
The Screamin Demon was the first adult coaster I was tall enough to ride. The height requirement was lower for some reason. In one trip to KI I rode six times.
King Cobra was interesting. It was short and slow, and it lost the excitement factor early on, although I still usually rode it at least once.
Son of Beast - I rode it once, before they took out the loop. That ride beat me up.
I never got to ride The Bat, it was always closed when I was there. I did ride the Vortex 17 times one day; they were shooting a commercial and they needed bodies in the seats. Got 2 days off of school for that. A lot of local companies liked to use students from where I went to high school for their local commercials at the time. For that one they used my choir.
I moved away in 2001 and when I got back I couldn't ride roller coasters anymore, so I haven't been to Kings Island since then. I really miss The Beast.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful memories. You got to experience some great attractions. The Beast is my favourite ride at Kings Island.
I was on top gun roller coaster when I was there in kings island
That is still a great coaster! I always have multiple rides every time I go!
I really enjoyed this, thanks.
Phantom Theatre was the makeout ride.
Thank you for watching, I appreciate your engagement! I’d love a remake of Phantom Theatre.
Son of beast was awesome.road that many times.also really loved the king cobra.
Wow! I would have loved to have ridden SoB!
The Banshee sits ontop where the S on of Beast use to be,They hsve a msrker and eternal flame honer the great coaster that obce stood.
I always stop and remember the old coaster that point. You can also see the old station still standing.
The station is still there
@radmank1947 yes it sure is! Back by the Bat.Exut ramp and entry turnstile is still there👍 Got caught smoking back there lol!
Banshee still shut down by the way.
@@deansmiley8221 it is a temporary close and will be back open when the incident and bad publicity cools down, and when both the state and the park run investigations
Saw the Bats cars come off the track. I road on the ride not more than 10 minutes earlier. It was a rough ride. But was use to it as most the rides there ran rough. Even the beast only had a loose fitting lap bar that year.
Thanks for watching!
Geauga Lake was across the lake from Sea World. It became 6 Flags before becoming Geauga Lake once more. It couldn't compete with Ceader Point after Seaworld Closed.
It was such a big park when it was combined!
The bat has always been me and my sister’s starter ride.
What a great ride too!
Happy to say I’ve ridden son of beast, king cobra, flight commander and screamin demon (at Camden park)
That’s a good selection of Kings Island’s lost rides!
I rode firehawk once before it closed, during that ride my chest restraint came unbuckled about 2/3 of the way through the ride. When I got back to the station I told one of the operators and they had told me that I wasn’t the first person that day to say something about the restraints coming loose or undone. Safe to say it closed shortly after that.
Oh wow. I’ve ridden hundreds of coasters but never felt unsafe.
I rode it at Geauga Lake Park. Absolutely hated that ride there and hated it at Kings Island. Glad to see it gone. Very painful ride.
That ride sucked anyway even at Geauga Lake Park. Glad it is gone
Flight commander looks absolutely terrifying. I wonder if that’s what WindSeeker used to be?
Windseeker is a new ride… but terrifies me more than flight commander ever did!
I loved the King Cobra.
I can see why, a short but fun coaster!
I miss the smurfs the most out them all. I wised they would have kept it in. But still so many fun weekends spent at kings island
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your support!
I rode Vortex, Flight commander, King Cobra, Phantom Theatre, Smurfs, Scooby’s Ghoster Coaster, Son of Beast with the loop, Tomb Raider, Firehawk
I must say I’m a little jealous! 😂
@@CoasterConnections nah! Don’t be! I’m from Cincinnati. I’m just heartbroken The Vortex is gone. It was my first rollercoaster!
K.I. is my home park, so I was lucky enough to have experienced several of these rides. I liked King Cobra but it always gave me a headache and Son of Beast was awful from day one. Vortex is the lost Kings Island ride I miss most. That was a favorite of mine for a long time and was brand new the first time I visited KI.
That’s so cool, you have ridden more than me! Although I did ride Flight Commander in its new location at my local park in England. Vortex looked like a fun ride and its departure has left a large area for a new attraction.
Vortex was my favorite
Even just aesthetically, Vortex was an inspired creation@@miketaylor2197
Love the Vortex 😢
Vortex was my favorite. I went on Son of the beast once and loved it.
Thank you for this video and the one about Cedar Point! Having grown up in Columbus, which is located roughly in the middle of the 2 parks. Great childhood and teenage memories in the late 70’s thru to the 90’s spending summers at both. Thanks for the nostalgia.
You are most welcome! Thank you for watching, I am pleased that I can share my passion for theme park history with people.
I love King's Island, been going since the mid 90s. Thank you for this video, it was nice to revisit some old memories. I always wanted to ride King Cobra but i wasn't tall enough until the year they closed it forever. Heartbreaking lol but there have been so many amazing rides at King's Island that make up for missing out on that one. Diamondback and Orion are incredible.
I love Kings Island too. It’s just such a fun park to visit. I love Diamondback too, but my favourite is The Beast for all its history.
You forgot a ride call days of thunder
Thanks for watching! I had to pick 10 for my list. Seems there are enough lost rides for a follow up.
When I was a kid, I loved the Bavarian Beetle and The Bottomless Pit. So fun!
Wow, never heard of the Bottomless Pit. I will have to go and find some more info.
The bat is actually still open! Its much smaller now but its one of the first rides I worked up the courage to go on, and I just went on again it a few weeks ago!
The Bat that is there today is a brand new ride. The original was located where Vortex was and was scrapped. The new ride was renamed to honour the original.
This is the first roller coaster I rode at KI! I completely forgot about this! This video took me back immediately. Thank you!
And thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
They had that Flight Commander ride at Knott's Berry Farm it was amazing. It was called like X-26 or something like that but I remember turning the jet upside down and ride it the whole time like that haha
This is a lost Kings Island ride I got to experience at my local park Flamingo Land. My friend wouldn’t let me stay upside down for long!
I don't remember if it was the Beast or Son of Beast but hitting the bottom after the first hill the lock bar across my thighs ratcheted down a couple of notches. Obviously, it was like that for the rest of the ride. Talk about hurting! At 66 years old it's still some of the most excruciating pain I've been in.
I’m with you there, I’ve had so many uncomfortable rides from tight restraints!
I have never been to Kings Island before and I found out the guest was tragically hit by the Banshee roller coaster train a few weeks ago. Banshee is where the son of beast wooden roller coaster was located. Theme park roller coaster review has been to Kings Island many times.
Unfortunately there have been a number of tragic incidents at Kings Island. It’s still a great park that I love.
The Bat was awesome, my favorite coaster
You are lucky to have ridden, in a rare club!
Oh, I love them on Firehawk. It’s gone so bye and that’s really unfortunate.😢😢😢😢😢😢
But we now have Orion which is great!
Zodiac scared the heck out of me. Literally wouldn't get off the floor as my sister rocked the car. Sheesh
Thanks for watching and sharing your memories!
The statue for the crypt is still in the building just out of view, on an occasion supervisers will take employees in there to see it, also the son of the beast stations is still there
That would be cool to see!
I rode one that was similar called Top Gun once in the mid-1990's. I needed to look online I understand now. It started out as The Bat, Top Gun, Flight Deck.
You are right. Top Gun is still there, just renamed The Bat. It’s still a great ride.
Days of Thunder would have been another ride for this list. Everyone I know loved it.
I didn’t realise the love for Days of Thunder! Maybe I should do a “more lost rides” video!
I had ridden firehawk multiple times and it was a damn great coaster....so much fun. I'm still bummed they removed it.
That’s one ride type that must hate me. Any park I visit that has one always seems to have the ride closed.
this video unlocked so many memories!!!
Thank you so much!
this park will always be part of my heart my happy place I still have my flight commander hat with neck flap :) it was a fun ride
That souvenir has stood the test of time!
I actually rode it at its new home in England. I always remember my friend not wanting to go upside down!
Rode the bat, firehawk and flight commander. Bat was scary as heck, firehawk hurt my arms and legs just hanging there and slung around and flight commander i remember being a strange ride in many ways. Never really enjoyed any of the 3 and i like riding rides. 😮
Thanks for your memories. Maybe it’s a good thing they are now lost rides!
My family and I was there the day a large woman died on the King Cobra.
Sad but true.
Sorry to hear that.
Kings Island was a yearly trip growing up outside of Columbus. We were at the park the day the Flight Commander accident happened. The only one I not miss of the ones I experienced, Son of Beast. I can tell you which was worse…with or without the loop. I miss Vortex though, it was my first upside down roller coaster followed by King Cobra.
You certainly have experienced some Kings Island classics. I bet you have some great memories from your annual visits.
@@CoasterConnections oh I do! My grandma and great aunt would take us every summer even. I grew up going to Carowinds in NC too. Can’t forget Cedar Point or Columbus Zoo and even Wynadot Lake or COSI.
I rode all these rides except flight commander. I miss the King Cobra, Firehawk and bat the most.
That quite an accomplishment to ride all of those! Thanks for watching and commenting 😊
I was able to ride two of these in 2001. Son of Beast was rough even then. Could have been more but I didn't want to ride a "boring" dark ride and didn't want to try and get in the bucket of a seat for the kiddie coaster.
Also please equalize the audio of the entire video including the "Thanks for Watching" portion. I almost went deaf when that came on because the content portion volume was low enough to have the volume turned up.
Son of Beast is on my list of coasters I wish I had got to ride, but was never to be.
Thanks for the feedback on the audio. I do try to do that when editing. Sounds ok on mine, but will try will test a bit more in the future.
I've rode all the ones featured here. I'm bummed they stopped the backwards racer and both trains are now only forward.
Wow, that’s good going to have risen them all! Hats off to you!
Yeah, the backwards Racer was fun. One year one track was forward and the other reversed, that was fun.
I remember as a boy hearing all these rumors about people having died on the original Bat. I thought that was true till about ten years ago when I learned it was just an urban legend.
Yeas, there is no record of any deaths, but the urban legends continue in these comments 😂
Great video! It is kinda strange to have a British guy making a video about kings island though haha
Thank you! Although I’m English, I used to live in the US and travel all over the world visiting theme parks. Just enjoy sharing my passion for theme parks and their history
I rode them all !
Crazy was the bat !!!
That’s amazing! The Bat is one ride I would have love to have experienced!
Miss that ride. Son of the beast ! 😅
I wish I had got chance to ride!
Zodiac, screaming demon, and my favorite; the phantom of the opera.
Thank you for watching!
I unfortunately never got the chance to ride King Cobra or Flight Commander and Firehawk was my favorite ride.
Firehawk looked like such a fun ride. I’ve never managed to get on a ride like it as they always seemed to be closed when I visit!
Son of beast is by far the most violent roller coaster I ever road in my whole life 😅 brutal coaster. Road it once and was done.
Sad that it didn’t work out because the Beast lineage was pretty cool to have but brutal coaster
It was so ambitious, I wish it had worked out better than it did.
@@CoasterConnections very ambitious. The sight of it alone was impressive
I absolutely love the beast. I automatically assumed Son of Beast was a kid's version of the beast (because of the name) so I never got to ride it lol. Lesson learned.
@@deadbeats4894 it was the beasts evil son 😂 who had issues
Dang, makes me miss King Cobra even more...
Thanks for watching. That ride gets a lot of love!
Screamin Demon was my first coaster. I think I was 5. 6 at most.
Wow, what a coaster for your first ride! I don’t know if I would have dared go on at that age!
Same here. My dad tricked me. He said it was the lady bug ride. I was really young, too.😂
Anyone else remember the Scooby Doo/Beastie?
I sure do… and it’s still there! It was actually the first coaster to open as it was operating the year before the park.
They still have The Bat but they remodeled it.
Thanks for watching! The Bat in the park today is a completely new ride that was opened as Top Gun. The original Bat suffered structural problems and was scrapped.
I rode all but the Phantom Theater. Roller coasters were always a favorite with me!
Roller coasters will always rule the parks. But over in Europe dark rides have their place too.
I remember riding the screamin demon when it moved to Camden park. Climbing the stairs to get up to it was horrible
I always find the stairs on rides like that worse than the coaster itself!
fire hawk was soooo much fun!!!
A coaster type I haven’t managed yet, they always seem to be closed every time I visit a park with a Flying Dutchman model!
Liked the Bat. It was ahead of its time. Vortex was later put there.
It was indeed! Arrow trying to revolutionise the industry, I believe it paved the way for inverted coasters from B&M.
The son of Beast was the roughest roller coaster I've ever road
What was it like? I’m going to assume you went on beast. If so how much of a difference was it like?
@PopsparkzsXD well all wooden roller coaster ride rough to me, but that son of beast beat the crap out of us, our heads was hurting so bad, we couldn't ride nothing else after riding the son of Beast
If you look carefully on some videos you can see the train shake from side to side, it looks brutal!
The ones I always wanted to ride but they were gone before I was tall enough were Tombraider and Son of the beast
That’s the two I wish I could have ridden too!
i really hope that banshee does not get lost
It’s one of the newer rides, so I think it has a few years left in it!
Banshee is in the news now😢 someone hopped the fences to get his keys and they think he got hit. Last I heard he was critical. It’s back open though.
@@christyb7455He died. 😢
Imagine if they actually put the corkscrews on the original bat 🦇
I know! That would have been one insane ride!
You forgot about vortex being closed in 2019 other than that good video
Thanks for watching! There are a few rides I haven’t covered. Hopefully I will be able to do a follow up and cover them. 😄
I got injured on the king cobra, due to a severe whiplash. I now have auto-fused neck discs due to that. I never told them.
Sorry to hear that. Some of the older coasters were decidedly rough.
I went to Kings Island Sunday morning 23rd June yesterday
I hope you had a fantastic day.
Forgot Days of Thunder, which eventually was Indian Jones.
I couldn’t cover everything. There is enough for another video I think.
I miss King Cobra so much
One I never got to ride, I’d love to have got to experience it.
I rode and survived Son of Beast when it still had the Loop, had season pass, def fucked up my neck and migraine but it was fun! we got stuck on the big hill going up, in the sun, for like 1hr
It certainly looked rough. Despite this I bet it’s great to say you rode it!
