you're not the only one. I wish my country was small enough to bike around. (Canada) I could do my province but it's flat I don't think the roads have shoulders in a lot of areas.

This exact fizik saddle was on my bike when i had to call my wife to pick me up 3h into a ride. I simply could not take it anymore. That thing is pure torture!

There has been a good bit of matesmanship between three different riders. It added a lot of “texture” to each leg of the trip. It’s very similar to the Cade studio work and bike fitting pods. So keep it going!
Thanks for roping these two in and encouraging them to make videos, Francis. 8 mins is too short for each day, but the collective 22 mins is like a half-hour TV show for each day, shot in three acts. That's perfect. Also, I'm very excited for (hopefully) permanent-in-LA Francis. I really love that place for riding and it's easier for me to visit from D.C.!

I'd completely forgotten you were doing this trip on a Triban! Sounds like it's performed incredibly. I started out on a Triban 500SE and it was bullet proof for years. I love the fact you're championing cheaper entry level bikes. 👌🏼

Heads-up lads…the weather in Southern Malaysia and Singapore is brutal right now. Especially between 11am to 4pm. Suggest you start riding earlier if you can fromKL onwards.

I'd love to see a video on Cade Media about the sort of dollarydoos involved in a trip like this. How much do flights cost. How much does transporting the bike cost? How much do hotels cost? When is the best time to go? How long is the best period to be riding for? etc etc.
Thinks like the coast-to-coast of Australia and America, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc are all amazingly inspiring and make me want to go for a great big tour just like it - but I can hardly imagine the logistics and costs of a trip across the channel and a ride around Brittany or Normandy or whatever, let alone half way across the world!

I am really enjoying the daily updates. Just the right length of video. I am looking to start cycle touring and am seriously considering a tail fin. I’m not sure on whether I need the pannier version or not. A quick question for Francis, if you were not carrying the video production equipment, would you still need panniers or would the Aeropack be sufficient?
Amen Ben. of all the places I've eaten at in my travels in Asia (Hong Kong, Chengdu, Taiwan, Chiang Mai and more) the best places to eat are in the stalls and shacks behind or in the alley's of the main streets.

Bye Ben. These videos are so good. Watch all three each day. Try the Specialized Power Pro with Mirror 3D printed saddle (I know James isn’t a fan), put one in my gravel bike a few weeks ago and the most comfortable saddle I’ve had to date, and I’ve tried several over the years (running SQ labs 611 and 612 and Ergon SM pro on my other bikes). Can do a 3 hour ride without chamois in regular shorts and zero discomfort. Worth the steep price ($325).

Got on well with most Fizik saddles apart from the Antares which maybe what you have?

Dudes! Have you never taken a bike down stairs before? Back tire first, grab by the front tire and just walk it down. I do this everyday down my narrow basement steps. (oh take the panniers off first or it will tip and be a royal PITA)
I have something even better in my bar ends. Doormate. A universal garage door opener from 12 speed. I press it 50 yards from my house and ride straight into the garage. It’s awesome on really hot days.

I recently changed to a Giant Fleet SLR saddle, that thing disappears, you forget you're even sitting on a bicycle.
Ben is absolutely right. Malaysian eateries traditionally doesn't put a lot of effort into presentation (as opposed to typical western cuisine), as their focus is on the taste!
I’ve ridden loads of fizik saddles. And I have a regular Antares now. But that one you have there. The 3d one. It’s really really expensive. And it sucks !!!

When you do a trip like this, do you need to arrange for a bike box to be transported and stored from the start airport to the end?
No, just go to a bike shop a day or two before you depart, most will give you one.
Drone footage is cool but not worth the distraction while ascending unless you had follow team. As someone who bpacks it is hard to imagine not running 2x/3/x but that nike likely weaighs less than my steel framee and fork.

Enjoying the series, but honestly, Malaysia doesn’t look like a fun place to ride. Mostly highways & fast traffic. I don’t understand why anyone would choose this route.
