I'm sure you've considered it, but when bikepacking, I always carry a small water filter (Katadyn, Sawyer) just in case there's a dodgy source in an emergency
- a "life straw" is always a good idea - small and compact.
you can also carry water cleaning pills, works well and takes 0 space
was thinking the same thing. and as said below, "LifeStraw" is great or the purifier tablets. Salt tablets are also good to carry
Agree. If not a filter, then purification tablets take almost no space. Also good for any trip to a country, where you can find pathogens that you're not used to.
I would advise you watch his previous bike packing trips if you haven't as it is something he's raved on about

for south-east-asia rim brakes are really the king. Went bike packing in the philipines and my disc brakes overheated countless times and i never could get them to stop squeiling

7:40 the water source was from the ground water of the mountain, probably rain water. Many people like to drink it because its cold and they believe the water is safe to be drink. But not advisable because you dont know whats inside.

Hydraulic brake pressure elevation issues. Another reason why mechanical cable disc brakes are the way to go on such trips.

I drank some suspect water in the Philippines and I got very bad stomach pains ..I went to the doctor and he told me I had '"Colic' just like babies get..gave me some medication and i was good to go.
No worries, the Jaybirds are much better than airpods. Like a lot of things Apple, it's very average quality for insane prices.

I really enjoy the content and have for years now. Honest question though, isn't this bike touring rather than bikepacking? In my head, bikepacking means carrying sleeping bags, tents, etc. And bikepacking would lean more towards trails and the backcountry. This trip seems like it should be referred to as bike touring, which is still great!
