- Timeless 3 by Fabfilter is one of the most, if not the most, powerful Delay plugin I've ever used. It offers almost an excessive amount of modulation options. Modulation routing is done through a drag-drop interface which gives the user the ability to build extremely complex and interesting patches, with very little effort. You have to check this!

I got timeless a few weeks ago and never really got around to trying it out yet due to work and other things, but made some time today, I first started watching this video and I was blown away, then started messing with it on some tracks and almost cried at how awesome it enhanced things. It’s really an amazing thing with endless possibilities. I can’t say enough good things about it. Also a side note, I love the work you do with these videos and also the beautiful and fun music you make. It really dug me out of a hole when I lost my creativity spark a few years back due to some personal traumatic events. but thanks to these innovative apps, the positive and informative IOS community, and the work you do I feel artistically revived and an overflow of passion and ideas that give me excitement and purpose again. I have fun making music again and can’t stop creating or jamming in my free time. So thank you so much, much love and respect, again yes, timeless is simply amazing. It feels good to feel again 😺👍🏽✊🙌.
Been messing with the presets that come with it and are amazing, but the fact that you can really go deep in creating your own, modulate your modulation, tweak every aspect within the app is just crazy/insane!!! This is favorite delay, by far!!!
I love this unit. You’ve really made it shine dude 😎
Fantastic video Jakob! One of my favorite delays by far :)
Great sound 👏🏾
A great in-depth cut-out-and-keep guide to the best delay on IOS. I like putting Volcano 3 before Timeless in the fx chain and slapping on a subtle modulated chorus- about the only thing Timeless doesn’t do. Thanks Jakob!
Great video. I bought Timeless in the Black Friday bundle but didn’t find time to dive really into it. This video is a perfect starting point to do that. Thanks Jakob.
Great video, this is one of my favorite delays, hands down. So much can be done.
Oh my goodness. I need this app. Definitely! Thanks Jakob. ❤️🙏
Thanks Jakob 👍🏼😎
Very, Very, Very well done!
Great video! I just got Other Desert Cities recently and I’m still learning it. But this looks great.
oh my! As a delay junkie (I have waaaay too many delay pedals for my guitars), I don't know how I missed this app, buying it today. It's amazing how deep some of these apps can get, you did a good job of covering all of the functions.
Thanx for the video…as always niceeeeeeee……❤
Awesome, Thanks Jakob :)
My pleasure!
I’ve got Timeless 3 and I’ve been using it for a while. It’s good.
Hell Yeah! I'm thinking about snagging the bundle now on sale and had to check your take on it. Thanks, will get!
Great video, such a great sound. The first time you switch one Timeless 3 is like a SPA day for my brain. Had to listen to it for a few times :D (Also sure I own ALL FabFilter plugins on iOS. They are just a insane value)
The man. Breaking down knowledge at a digestible level. Respect.
Always on the lookout for potential "one stop" apps, and this one looks good. A bargain really, considering the flexibility.
Hi I’ve had timeless 3 for a while and was put off by the complexity! Thanks for the enthusiasm and tips - I’ll def give modulation another go
Thanks Haq….I forgot that I had purchased Timeless 3 during the holiday sales.
Holy cow, this really is the ultimate delay when it comes to Modular sound design!
Thanks again for putting Fabfilter 3 in the forefront of my consciousness….
I will now have the to spend the time to take full advantage of its potential, well worth the time
I bought all the apps in one go very recently. Been wanting them for years. This vid will help me as a good reference… so saved in a folder for reminders 😎👍🏽
Cool find
Nice video man. Your setup is looking nice lately too - I didn't mention that before, but yeah - looks great!
Thanks Pete! Always try to make my setup look good for the audience. 😘😘
Definitely in my wishlist now. Just getting into the world of ios music production with an iPad Air 2 and Focusrite itrack. Still am amazed of the opportunities this ecosystem has to offer. And to you sir, thank you for the work you do to provide so much valuable and interesting and fun in depth video information.
Hope for the best,
Pavel
Hey Jakob I just wanted to say I like your music keep it up brother
Aw, that means a lot to me, thank you! 💛
He's Baq!!
Great exposition Jakob, thanks. I have a solution to the finger-obscuration issue, two actually. One, have a large or any, second screen attached to a dock/hub, if your device will mirror or however it can happen, then you can glance up at the other screen to see what’s happening OR if they would reprogram the apps to do the following: if you tap & hold, it makes it possible to then drag your finger away from the control you are sat on, and yet STILL recognise that you are wanting to control that particular dial etc. This wpuld ideally have the added benefit, of much more ‘fine’ adjustment, as I am imagining it like those modified mod-wheels you see people with on synths, where they drill a small hole in the centre of the wheel, and have a little extender-stick protruding, so fine granular movements can be executed without the motor control of ‘Bishop’, the android from ‘Aliens’. ! Take care all.
Great vid! Even if only for the ability to play screaming dub movements with the EQ. Want to pair this with OtherDesertCities to make lots of illegitimate ambient babies. Oh yes!
If it’s fab it’s good every time.
Timeless 3 is good and i love it, beside of some others from Fabfilter
OMG. This is sooo deep.
I have avoided fab filter apps because they are not universal so i’m a tone booster guy. But this one is likely to be an exception.
But ok i have 5 delay app so i don’t need any more……. But maybe…..maaaaayybeeee I do 😬
Timeless 3 was the first FabFilter plugin I bought. I liked it so much that I went on to get all of them except of course Pro Q2. I don't see the point in getting that one because I have Pro Q3.
Never realised how much you can do with this bad boy though Jakob. Great video matey and thanks.
I'd love to see a video or series showing how to master with these Fabfilter plugins on iOS though. That would be sweet!!!
If you got PRO-Q3 then you really don’t need Q2. Yeah FF’s plugins are incredibly powerful and I use them all the time. I don’t think I’ve made a project without atleast one or two FF plugin(s) in it ever since I purchased the first AUv3 bundle they put out.
@@JakobHaq Well I guess they are kind of amazing. The look is enticing and the quality is the same. When I bought the main collection it was expensive but then I looked at the price for the same collection if you want to use it on the Mac and that literally freaked me out dude!!! Ouch!!!!
A mastering video with the fabfilter plugins is something I’d pay to see
Bra genomgång, har inte använt den sen othercities kom ut 👍
I love all the fabfilter stuff, top notch! Also I tend to use the Apple Pencil for the fiddly bits. So when’s the Loopy Pro video coming?
I have no date for a Loopy video. I don’t want to stress getting a video out quickly on it either. It’s such a deep app and I still need more time. 😅
@@JakobHaq LOL, I understand totally.
Thanks for sharing. Are these fabfilter plugins CPU intensive?
Jakob I need to ask. Have you made a video about the getting the ipad into the limit of prrocessing with AUM and audio effects???
Hello mate from England…
I am mostly interested in adding delay/reverb to certain parts of musical or drum phrases, usually at the end point. Is there a tutorial on that?
Jakob, have you tried using an Apple Pencil as a pointing/selection device to grab the smaller controls? Might be even more precise than a mouse? ... And, do you have any plans to release some of your patches commercially? People like myself just don't have the time for timeless (no pun intended!) - I mean spare time for sound design in general - and tend to rely on quality presets, as good starting points if nothing else. I have already produced a number of tracks that have "haQ..." presets lurking in the background. I for one would be happy to send some $ your way.
Wow, this app is structured pretty similar to the intellijel rainmaker module, which is $600+
Do you recommend the bundle? $59 is a lot but I’m sure it’s worth every cent. Another great video that sold me! I’m just debating on the app ala cart or the bundle.
It’s more than worth it. Saturn 2 alone is my most used saturation/distortion effect. It’s basically a multi-band distortion/saturation unit (up to 6 bands). Each band have individual controls for mix, feedback, dynamic, drive and tone. And check this, it also has that same deep modulation as Timeless 3. I use Saturn for all my mix and mastering jobs.
.
I recently started using Volcano and it’s a pretty mad filter. And what do you know, it too has that deep modulation. There’s not a FabFilter plugin I wouldn’t use today to be honest. They’re extremely well made, provide the user with professional tools and it’s easy to make creative patches with em.
Jakob, thanks for your passion!..i started to use timeless- its so deeep!
i dont know where i can ask for your attention and ask my question..about ik mm iloud speaker..that you have..
can you recommend it ..as a portable device?..in 2022?..how it owning experience?..its loud enough? How its sounds? i wondering to get one..its expensive but has some possibilities that attract my attention..or maybe you have another portable speakerin your head?..thanks in advance!)
I have three different iLouds. I don’t think you mean MTM’s since they’re not really that portable. Then there’s iLoud Micro which are considered being portable, even though they need wall power. Lastly there’s the original iLoud. Is that the one you are asking about? I was really surprised over how good it sounded. It’s pretty loud, however I don’t have much else to compare to other than an old “rock blocker”. Those are literally the only portable speakers I’ve ever owned. In the end it’s going to be a subjective thing. What type of speakers are you using at home/studio?
@@JakobHaq thanks!..yes- i was asking about original i loud version..….i on the road now ....so i tried to survive with jbl 6..but its 30 wt sounds better than anything around, but not directional…and bt only….so i was looking to iloud..or jbl extreme3…but 2 kilo compere to 1…and stereo input, to process sound! so - as I understand- you like it..and recommend it! )
About the cpu consumption, is it ok , or is it greedy ?
I'd love to see how you use this for dub/reggae music.
I hear you. I’ll see how I can incorporate a use case like that in a future video.
I recommend buying a Apple Pencil for fine adjusting
What’s that usb hub you have connected to your iPad in this one Jakob? Need to find a better hub for my setup
I show that hub in this episode about USB-C hubs. 👍 czcams.com/video/MOypEynwW8w/video.html
@@JakobHaq perfect thanks!
I need it. I need it like now. But after I get paid!!!!!!!!
Sounds like a good excuse to use the pencil!
what is that app in this video to host AUv3 plugin...its a DAW?
It’s called “AUM”. It’s not a conventional daw with an arranger view and or edit view. It’s a modular mixer basically. In this video I’m going into that topic of AUM vs DAW czcams.com/video/zmASyZRAOoA/video.html
Did you already check out other desert cities from Audio Damage?
Yes, extensively. Other dessert cities (ODC) is powerful. However Timeless 3 (T3) Offers way more when it comes to modulation. Timeless 3 has 6 mod sources where’s ODC have 3. Also, the XLFO in T3 is more complex with more options. T3 also offers two configurable envelope types instead of one, it implements touch controllers and on top of that, modulation sources can be routed in anyway and can even modulate each other.
.
What makes ODC special is its different delay algorithms. It’s got Granular, Tape, Reverse, Multi-head, Multi-tap and Stereo delay algorithms plus more. They make all the difference. T3 has two, sample stretch and multi-tap. ODC does have good modulation too but it’s not close to as deep as T3.
.
I still like ODC a lot. What I’ve used most in it is it’s granular and tape delay algorithms.
I forgot to point out that, like I show in the video, the cross modulation setup allows you to build modulation macros that can be automated by modulation or manually controlled with the slider and/or XY-pad. On top of this there’s a filtering module (pro-Q3 style) with up to six filter modes that can also be modulated.
What adapter is that you use that supports midi and audio over USB-C? Do you have a video on it?
Yes, I talk about it here czcams.com/video/MOypEynwW8w/video.html
Btw, I removed your previous comment from the other video. Please refrain from double posting.
@@JakobHaq Sorry about that. I didn’t realize I did post twice in a row.
@@JakobHaq thanks 😊
is it possible to feed envelope followers with external signal through auv3 multi input?
Yes! Thanks for asking btw. I’ve added that info to the pinned comment.
@@JakobHaq thank you!
4:26
I wish you'd talk about CPU use, both the numbers and the in-use real-world operation in AUM, running multiple apps simultaneously.
Does it support midi learn?
Yes. You can see where it’s situated here (bottom left, under the highlighted slider) 4:40
@@JakobHaq Awesome, thanks.
Most users would love instant gratification instead of dwelling into nicks and Nacks
Most users will go for Valhalla
A delay “app”, how stupid can someone be ?, get an instrument or band app, so u don’t need to play anymore by urself !
Your comment isn’t making to much sense. But I’d like to understand what you’re referring to so if you could elaborate a bit more?
@@JakobHaq … hi, the answer is simple, I don’t want no f Computer, when I make music ! You could answer “ hey but I’m sitting in a studio & I am recording “ … still my answer is somehow ironic : why making it easy when we can make it difficult . I think we talkin’ about a never ending story, and if we got this they come up with another thing, all I am looking for is keep to the roots, I mean a propper let’s say analogue digital delay in an 19” enclosure is so need too . Just to give u an idea , what I’m talkin about. I have hard disc recorder myself , sometimes they are comin’ handy, but it is so much fun if at least some time I can sit in front of an analogue 24 track wheel tape-recorder, and just beside it is a for example a (to me) huge 34 track mixer !
