Steroids can help you build a massive amount of muscle, increase your strength, and drastically speed up your recovery. But they can also come with some serious side effects, especially for many beginners that rush in without knowing what they're doing. So today i want to go over exactly what happens to the human body on steroids based on science. Now before we jump in I want to mention that I don't personally have any first-hand experience with steroids, but I have spent countless hours researching the topic, so I'll do my absolute best to give you a non-bias science-based summary of the effects that steroids have on your body.
Now the first thing you have to know is that not all steroids are the same. The term “steroid” refers to a biologically active organic compound with four rings arranged in a specific molecular configuration. So even a corticosteroid is still considered a steroid since it has this same kind of four ring structure and corticosteroids are considered relatively safe. They're even routinely prescribed by doctors to help lower inflammation in the body, caused by things like swelling due to an injury, allergic reactions, and even asthma. Although many of you already know about corticosteroids, it may surprise you to learn that both cholesterol and estrogen are actually also considered steroids because they have the same four rings, but for the rest of the video when I say steroids I'm referring to the type of steroids that are predominantly used for enhancement purposes known as an anabolic-androgenic steroid. This is a type of steroid that mimics the effects of testosterone in your body.
Normally your testes will produce four to nine milligrams of testosterone per day in an average healthy male. But by taking synthetic testosterone, you'll vastly increase the amount of testosterone that flows through your veins. Your body then treats that exogenous testosterone in the same way as if it were your body's own testosterone. So the testosterone enters your cells and binds to what's known as androgen receptors. From there, it binds to the nucleus of the cell and attaches to DNA. This process activates hundreds of genes involved in stimulating protein synthesis and reducing protein breakdown.
So as a result, your muscles are more likely to stay in a "positive protein turnover rate,” which benefits muscle growth because to build muscle, more protein needs to be built up compared to the amount that gets broken down. And this is how steroids assist with muscle growth, and why they're so popular amongst bodybuilders.
Now aside from improving protein turnover rate anabolic steroids also increase the number of nuclei that are found within muscle cells. Those nuclei, which are actually called myonuclei, happen to be the control center of each muscle. So having more nuclei is beneficial because the number of nuclei you have within a muscle is actually one of the primary factors that determine your potential for growth. To put it simply the more myonuclei, the bigger the muscle can become. (3) And this is actually one reason why some people have better muscle-building genetics because they naturally have more myonuclei, while others don't. (4) You see, the nuclei in your muscle fibers are limited to a maximum region of the cell that they can control. This is an area known as the myonuclear domain. Once the growth of a particular muscle fiber exceeds this domain, the only way to further grow is to add new nuclei to that cell. And that process is called 'myonuclear addition.'
Now the problem is that normally, it takes a lot of time to add new nuclei to a muscle. That’s why you can’t gain 20 pounds in let's say one month. But by taking steroids, you can gain muscle much faster because it significantly increases the speed at which your body can add new nuclei to muscle tissue. And once it's there the new nuclei remain in your muscle tissue for the rest of your life. We can see this play out in studies in which steroids were given to mice. 3 months after stopping the use of steroids, the mice had their muscle mass return to normal, but the extra nuclei stayed there. (5) That’s why taking steroids not only increases muscle mass in the short term, but it can also increase the amount of muscle that you can build and maintain for the rest of your life. So even if someone that once took steroids stopped taking steroids, they would most likely lose some mass, but their muscles would still have a higher...

no disrespect intended. but dont get all your advice from one guy on youtube.
look at the pros. Jay cutler, Arnold, Stallone, Dwayne Johnson,
If you do it right. there are no real side effects, and you live a significantly better life. (obviously this depends on what you take. there are dozens of products and various cycles)
There's a reason why TRT is now the most popular treatment for men.
Its not just the muscle, its the recovery, the better sleep, more energy, the list goes on.
You feel years younger, more mentally aware (much of that is also diet related).
makes life better in a significant way.
all of his side effects listed are preventable or dont happen
1 the shrinking/deactivated testicles- you take a pill once a day to prevent it. (i forget the name)
      2. Gyno. only happens on large doses of test. and still preventable with correct drugs.
      3. Aggression. Rare, typically for guys that have pre existing anger issues,
      4. Skin issues, you can take an OTC supplement to prevent the achne.
      5. Injection site issues- if you use sterile equipment and clean the site before. its a non issue.
      6. Liver issues. also extremely rare. usually only associated with plp who abuse on the highest levels. and aren't educated before starting.
      7. Permanent loss of test production function is 1 in a million.

Corticosteroids are not relatively safe. They make you gain a lot of fat, increase cholesterol and triglycerides and cause long term harm to your body. Yes they are good for short term use like poison ivy and some other minor problems but they are not good for continued use. Anabolic steroids are compound that are similar to what your body naturally produces. When abused they can be harmful but generally when used in the proper way they are very beneficial to your body; especially when your testosterone levels go down .

the video does not mention the amount of anabolic steroids needed to start causing good effects and bad side effects, nor the duration of usage. It also mentioned that users "may" suffer those effects, meaning they could also not suffer them. I would guess that one does not need as much as 600mg of anabolic steroids per week to realize some of its advantages. Cheater athletes from other sports don't seem to use as much steroids as roided bodybuilders as their musculature does not look as extreme.
And a part of the video also mentions that a person does not even need to take anabolic steroids perpetually because once it causes the advantage of increased myonuclei numbers, those numbers persist after stopping usage. I read through a quick google search that they can last up to 15 years or even be permanent. That's why some athletes call for permanent ban on cheater athletes that are caught even once.
There might be a relatively safe dosage that can achieve an advantageous pros vs. cons level that people can take advantage of. Of course, athletes shouldn't if their sport's rules forbid it.

I worked out for 4 years, since I was around 14 yrs old, before I started taking Dianabol at 18 years old. The amount of muscle I gained, and the strength increase was absolutely insane. Just for an example, I went from repping 225 lbs on bench to repping 250 lbs in a matter of weeks. I think it was 2 weeks. I never maxed out, but I am sure it was a much higher number. I was dumbbell pressing 100 lb dumbbells after incline benching for over an hour. I felt amazing, I looked great, but I stopped because I started having issues. My testosterone levels, muscles, and even my skin is incredibly messed up all these years later. I have stretch marks everywhere because of the rapid muscle growth. I have also done a cycle of SARMS, but I had no negative side effects except for eye issues. To me, steroids arent worth it. Unless you have gone as far as you are going to go naturally, or you are competing professionally.

Been on TRT for almost two years. I get checked with blood work every three or four months. My cholesterol is within accepted levels. Test level is up. Lost 32 pounds. Have gained muscle. I think it is very important to differentiate use from abuse. I have zero acne, heart issues, ETC. I am under a doctors care. The most important part is I am not falling asleep every minute of the day as before TRT. My testicles have gotten smaller but, I don't SIT on them anymore so I count that as a plus. I take TRT bc of low T. I was 36 when I started and am 39 now. I was moody, irritable, always tired, did more cardio and ate way less and better (salmon/chicken) and never made gains. I finally got it checked and did BioTe with mixed results (worked, but pellets popped out constantly, painful for 2 weeks after, couldn’t squat bc of pressure on buttox, and scars from incision). Switched to injection TRT and have had good result. I stay within my age-limits for test and get regular blood work for not just Free-T and Total-T, but cholesterol and everything else. Insurance won’t cover it even though I have blood work to verify I need it. You can take it if you aren’t going to abuse it and go beyond the ranges of your age and needs.

    Wow.
I'm hitting the gym again, and I'm going to see what body comes to form. I'm back weightlifting but not like a bodybuilder. I'm just doing it to get back in shape and living that muscle man life.
I had a few frustrations, but I got online and talked to bodybuilders about how weightlifting works without doing laps in a pool. Their advice worked and now I see weightlifting differently.
The side effects are so severe for me , I'm glad I ran across this video.
Now, I want to get an all natural toned body.
My DNA stops me at times, and I can see how steroids can help, but I have a fear of niddles.
People tell me they see improvement, but I don't see it. I lost a little weight and I got sick with a fever and cough. I wasn't around anyone sick. I think it was my body feeling different, and it's not used to it.
I enjoy weightlifting, but I don't know if I'm a bodybuilder. Just want a new body after the pandemic.
Thanks for the video. I learned something from it
