On Rube Burrow's section...the 38-40 was based off the 44-40. Both are pretty "hot" pistol cartridges when loaded to original black powder specs.
38-40 used a 180 grain cast lead bullet, moving 1000fps out of a pistol, 1300 or more out of a carbine/rifle. This is about on par with 180 grain cast lead bullets from a .357.
44-40 used a 200 grain bullet at the same speeds or a hair faster, putting it between 44 Special and .44 Mag.
For reference, .45 Colt used a cast 250 or 255 grain bullet between 910 fps and 1000 fps, depending on the source.

I WILL COTINUE EDITING THIS AS I FIND MORE. ESPECIALLY ABOUT CULLEN BAKER. I could easily find you enough info for a whole video just about him.
1:19:00 Maxwell is a great grandma's name on my mom's side. I'm gonna have to do some research now.
    Mom's dad's mom:
Annie Ethel Maxwell , born 1888 Newtown MO.
Her father Thomas Putnam Maxwell born 1861 Putnam, MO.
From what I can tell, this line goes back to Scotland. Now, what I've heard from some pretty hardcore pre-Columbian contact historians, is the Scotts and a lot of the Natives had really good relations before the Brits encroaching. Scottish clan life and tribal "Indian" life coincided very well together. But that all probably started way before this story was set to take place.
1:58:00 another uncommon name which is one of my great grandma's: Bowers (Bauer).
I also have a "Smith" grandma. But I thought that was an everyman name.
2:00:00 Holy Bejeezus! I have a Kelly great grandma. Did the south occur in a vaccuum??
2:37:06 Really? My mom's great grandma was named Fannie Mae Baker, born in Illinois. 😮 John may have been her uncle.
2:49:05 Now all these surnames are on my mom's mom's side... BUT... My mom's dad did live in Arkansas from at least 1930 tp 1940, so I know they were around there at this time.
((I know all these relations cause I'm geneologist. )
2:42:13 the uncle was Thomas Young, brother of his mom Elizabeth Young. I can find out everything you want about either of them. It was specifically his daughter's Maternal grandfather that she was left with.
3:08:30 Hey. Watch what you say about my daddy, boy.... 🧐💪 He wasn't a Yankee. Oh wait. Yeah he was. And his grandpa's house was on the Bozeman trail in SD, as a stop on the underground railroad.
Somebody in my family tree was listed on some documents with the last name Moses, but another name on other documents. I always disregarded the name Moaes as a mistake. My dad's family were Quakers, descended from William Bradford. I'll have to research this one...

Coffee drinkers can only really handle one tea. Earl grey with the same mix of condiments that you'd use in your cup of Joe.
It's the only tea that is strong enough to replace coffee in a pinch. Strong and English. Some say dejeerling which if black sure, but two cream and one sugar tastes better in Earl grey and it can also be had black with no real strength problems.

You brought up something that got me thinking when you covered the story about Rube, that he robbed a stagecoach, not caring about the financial status of the passengers. I venture to guess that anyone who could afford to pay for a ride on a stagecoach probably was a person of some means so Rube could have assumed so much. By the way, I think Rube was pressing his luck and should have quit when he was ahead. He had already robbed enough to afford living high on the hog for the rest of his life.
As I hear you tell these stories, you impress me as being someone who would prefer living back in those days right in the middle of the action. Question: putting yourself in the shoes of a person like Brushy Roberts, which of these characters would you most like to be? Or wish you were?
My God, get a load of those Bama names...Jewel, Vernon, Moses..
    nothing can compare.
Last comment about Rube: Those two African Americans who waylaid Rube sure were lucky that he didn't have the disposition of that real mean guy you covered in another video...I already forgot his name...he was the equal of "Joaquin Murietta" except to black people...you know who. Now, don't tell me you want to be him!! Lol😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

sorry, but I can not understand your sentiment to Rube Burrow. He was a men with land to his name. Hard working or not. He had more than most people ever get a chance in their life to get.
And he murdered people in cold blood. Like the post office men and probably several police men who only wanted to keep old people and children safe from lunatics.
Easy money for sure might be the reason why he didn't continue to work.
But he was a men who had it all and it still wasn't enough. It's sad that people still sing songs about him and have forgotten the people who worked hard and got their lives cut short by Rube Burrow.
He didn't do it for fame so I don't think people should forget about him. But when telling the story of Rube Burrow, it's a story of a men who denied many people the right for a chance of pursuing their luck.
don't get me wrong. you make great videos. I love this one.
You tell these stories in detail and with emotion.

You must do hours of research for these podcasts. I get a kick out of the way you present all of this information. I was cracking up at the way you described your typical Vernon. I have met a couple of these guys in my life. As for the 38-40 cartridge it a 38 caliber bullet backed up with 40 grains of black powder. It is both a rifle and a pistol cartridge. Cowboys and outlaws both liked it because they could have a Colt revolver chambered in 38-40 and a Winchester rifle chambered in the same cartridge. This solves a lot of problems. In the late 1800's Colt and Winchester had a partnership going on .

And actually think I'm getting smarter while I waste my life on this damn thing that wants to suck my time away and flush it down the toilet. Thank You for making work enjoyable again.!! FYI... Christopher 'Kit' Carson was an awful man, responsible for attacking & killing Native North Americans and promoting his idea to slaughter the 30-50 million Bison, to starve the Indigenous population into submission and worse. A terrible genocide intended to solve the "Indian Problem" by extermination of the entire race. The "Way The West Was Won" was by 'Manifest Destiny' and our Native Tribes deserve better retribution.

This young man's works are worthy of a Producer and funding, to Produce his History Stories with an Accompaniment of Video, a full fledged Video Documentary.
Imagine, a Documentary with the focus on Content Facts rather than:
(Productions based on History for Entertainment Profits, written and Produced with an obvious idea that all the Public is inept and ignorant, with their "Overly Dramatic Rhetoric, Narrators, Music, and drawn out, repetitive dialogue l, lead up to a "No new Information", just a repeating of the Mainstream Academic Theory Based Narratives.)
I far prefer the History and Science Documentaries that are pre 1980, over the E and "History Channel, Media Productions for Profits" that are Common in the Cable Media's.

That's pretty insulting, but if your passionate about the OK corral, good for you, but how many times have you hear it in the past 143 years.

      @@user-sw5fc4vf1q wait, I’m lost…what is insulting? I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying.
In the above comment the U is a typo, that was meant to say “I” not “U”
      No insults were intended
