Like I said people, I love finding rat infestations! I think it's because I don't get to see them very often. I have only seen a live rat less than 5 times in my career (not counting the streets of big cities hahaha). I am glad this customer called me so that I can help them out! The longer these rats infested here the larger the colony was going to get! While domesticated rats are kept as pets and pose minimal health risks, wild rats can carry diseases such as leptospirosis, hantavirus, and rat-bite fever. Proper pest control and sanitation are essential in managing rat-related health risks. Be sure to look out for signs of rats around your home! Thank you for watching ‪@DanTheBugMan‬ and I will see you again soon! :)

Some recommendations. Wear some goggles or better yet a full face respirator. And don't take it off until you get out of the danger zone. Lots of aerosolized particles are floating around in the air and they can not only get in through your eyes but they could be getting into the face mask when you took it off. Then you're breathing it all in. Your health is more important than narrating a YT video.

Do you secure your bait stations to the ground with stakes? We glued our bait stations to concrete pavers. It made them heavy but it also made them nearly impossible for animals like Racoons to run away with them.

Gluing concrete to bait stations is frowned upon in our industry and not that secure
Do yourself a favor and order a pallet of EZ Secured bait boxes with the concrete block

Good stuff I specialize in Rodent Proofing in Southern California LA area if your interested in how I’m bidding rodent seals and my service packages I can show you my rodent agreement and diagrams etc feel free to reach out. You could market the rodent proofing, trapping program, and warranty on this house for around 1k up depending on the amount of entry points on the building and keep them out for good plus still solve the exterior infestation with the bait stations.

Hey Everyone!🤗 Who else has a story with rats?? I have never personally had rats in my home or apartment but I think that's because I have never lived in a big city! Rats are no joke and can transmit diseases like Leptospirosis, Hantavirus, and Rat Bite Fever! It's important to note that while these diseases are associated with Norway rats, the risk of transmission can be mitigated through proper pest control measures, maintaining cleanliness, and avoiding direct contact with rats and their habitats.

I have a good rat story for you. I was in a suburb of Washington DC at this massive housing project. It had a 23 story high rise and 12 two story low rises. This place was HUGE. All of the dumpster pads were surrounded by planters on three sides that had trees, shrubs, bushes and plants in an effort to beautify the area. Well what do we know about Rats? They LOVE cover and concealment. EVERY dumpster pad had a MASSIVE rat colony living in the planters. There was so much activity these dumpster areas smelt like the primate cages at the zoo. I asked the property manager about this and why nothing was done about it. She said the guy I replaced said there was nothing he could do about it, the infestation was just to big. That crap didn't fly with me, all that told me is that the technician before me may have worked for the same company as I did but he was a slack ass none the less. I got after these colonies with my shovel and tracking powder. The ground under all the foliage looked like the surface of the moon, there were more entrance and exit tunnels than you could count. I started by digging up burrows and hitting them with tracking powder and filling the burrows back in. I told the maintenance engineers to be on the lookout for dead rats and how to pick them up and dispose of them safely. I treated these colonies once a week for six or eight weeks. The building engineers used to give me a hard time because they would say that for a few days after each visit they were finding dead rats all over the property. I eventually eliminated the problem and convinced the property to have the planters around the dumpsters removed and replaced with a three sided fence and they never had a problem again when I was their tech.

I have another funny rat story, I was inspecting a five million dollar home in Potomac Maryland for reported rats. My first thought was BS, it is mice because having rat activity in a home is rare. I got there and in the finished basement that was 5x bigger than my whole house I could see rub marks along a specific wall. They went down the hall in into the bathroom and into the tub which had a leaky faucet. Along that path there were in fact rat droppings. The rub marks started and stopped in the exact same place, a tiny gap under the shoe molding. I also caught a very faint smell of sewer gas. I talked to the home owner and told him that when they build the house they left a line uncapped behind that wall and rats were coming up right out of the sewer and using his tub to get a drink of fresh clean water. He didn't believe me at first but he called out a plumber and they cut a hole in the dry wall right were I told them to and BOOM there is was a pipe that they forgot to cap and it was giving the rats easy access to his home.

This isn't a rat story more like what Pest Management is like in a big city/suburban area. That huge housing project with the 23 story high rise and all the two story low rises. That was my first stop every Monday morning. I did one floor of the high rise and one of the low rises, 35 Apartments in total. The total number of add calls allowed each week was twelve so that number could jump to 47 Apartments depending on residents requests. There were a total of 80 Rodent Bait Stations on the Property. I did 20 a visit so all rodent boxes would be checked and rebaited if necessary once a month. To make this even more fun, the allocated time block to get this place done was FOUR hours. So when I say I basically jogged the entire time I was there is not an understatement. If you were not moving hard and fast you would never make the time allotment. My supervisor followed me around one day and he could hardly keep up, he asked me if I did this every time or was this for his benefit. I explained to him that without running it would be impossible to get it done and my Mondays had 13 other stops including another large apartment complex so not only was I running there, I was running all day Mondays just so I could finish my scheduled stops in less than 12 hours.
