@@EarthSurferUSA nothing specific. Just what he has done for the sport. The race team, his company, Team USA manager, helping privateers. Just stories I've read and heard over the years, just a great ambassador. With me being a huge fan of two wheels, just wanted to say thanks!
I've known Mitch forever, or at least since Corona Raceway days...over forty years. I listened to both segments and have even more respect for him than I had before. I'll also add that Mitch has been on board with supporting my annual Big Air Kid's Fair charity event at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital since 2004, donating tons of swag for the kids, their families and the hospital staff. Great show and props to Ping and Grant for a job well done.
Can you imagine what the dirt bike world would be like without Mitch Payton!? What a legend. Thank you Mitch for all you've done for our amazing sport.
This was by far the best episode, they interjected a lot but it was all productive information. Such a great, naturally flowing conversation this time.
This was so good! I've been laughing my ass off. Mitch is pure gold. Love the banter between these guys. A wealth of knowledge in each of them.. GL is one of my all time favorite racers. The Zulu warrior. Right up there with Doug Henry. Ping, also a pure badass who keeps things highly charged with intellect and class. Coming from a washed up, but still rippin plus 40a guy. (49!).. Bravo guys. Thanks for the laughs!
Both parts 1 and 2 with Mitch Payton are some of the best mx/six interviews I have ever heard. Good job guys. Keep this up. Love the depth and time of your interiews.
Definitely picked up a wrench 🔧 cuz of Mitch . The best products ever ! Simply the man ! Thank for everything you have done in our sport. Definitely an inspiration. Glad to see GL back.
My favorite show ever! Love that you all shared a part of his story both from the outside to the inside. And Mitch, I’m sorry but, Osborne completely deserved that title. Joey was choking and Zach was taking no prisoners! 😂 Anyhow, thanks for all the history and all your contributions!
It don't matter what your favorite color of bike is or who your favorite team is you have to have respect for Mitch. He has done so much for the sport and is a great ambassador. I'm not sure if anyone will ever be able to match it. And keep up the great work GL and Ping! Oh, and Donny too!
My Matt Walker story. My brother and I drove my box van down from NorCal to ride for a week. We went to Competition Park I think was the name and while driving on the 15 we saw them riding at to test track. It was Matt, bubba and Ezra. We sat on top my box van and watched for about an hr. We were busting up because Matt was all over the place and could barely make it through the whoops. The other thing I remember was James doing a combo on the 125 that Ezra wasn’t doing on the 250. Lol. Matt looked like a novice compared to those two. He eventually got things figured out
Yeah Bubba was out of this world fast (fastest I can imagine human being riding a dirt bike)...but I don't get why others racing him when given a chance didn't torpedo him in the corners when given the chance. I would have put him over a berm.
4th time I've listened to this one. Mitch is such a dude. Rock on man. Thanks for being such a fan of racing that you elevated it. And interesting that so many big name dudes stay in connection with him forever after they retire. Tom white seemed similar.
Was listening to this show while on my morning hike/run, and there was discussion about leveling the playing field of the smokers and thumpers. Aside from the rest of the very important aspects of that discussion (what the factories wanted, the changing landscape of the thumpers around that time, etc.), I thought a couple approaches might be more valid than simply a guess. One could be ensuring the area under the power curve (from a dyno) were equivalent. This would take into account the broader rpm range of a thumper. But, it wouldn't include the weight advantage of a smoker. Another might be ensuring the hp/lb ratio was the same. I realize it's all water under the bridge, but it might be something to consider when the day comes to put electric bikes on the track at the pro level with combustion engine bikes.
Mitch you have the most dedicated heart in our sport I remember you as a kid living right there at Lincoln and Rio vista going into your shop and you guys all laugh about it you were an asshole but you were always at your work bench working.there was like 2 huskies in there and a glass case with stickers we"d buy JT,FOX ,DG, man those were the days You are so cool today Mitch and we love you !
I remember Darcy I raced with him in arenacross and then talked to him at St. Louis and he was on it that year I thought he had the championship that year. Great guy.
What a fantastic bloke ! I’m about Mitch’s age I reckon and I just loved hearing his stories ! Very funny guy. Also want to say your content is great! I’m 62, I’m listening to more podcasts and you do it so much better than the others I’ve tried so far ! Some of them should be evangelists …. Somehow always slipping in a bit of preaching on their thoughts on the world….. hey I just want what you give ! Some stories and get to know what makes those guys tick ! Love your work ! I’m in !!!!! 👍👍👍👍
I fuckin' love you guys and all these stories...and I never even lined up on a gate. I'm a rider through and through though, gotta count for something.
Matt Walker constantly trains all of his riders to never ever cut the track these days. You get in major trouble if you cut the track in practice at his facility
Mitch's comment at 2:01:36 and his facial expression a second later says "I am right ". Also, his ability to make the AMA believe he knows nothing and put the attention on others. Priceless!
Dungey's parents motor home was repoed and the bank was chasing them from race to race in Minnesota d23. I watched them leave early to miss the repo man. Talk about stupid parent investments
Loved Matt Walker. Not only did he not take any shit, and pushed that punk Alessi off of Tedescos bike at Glen Helen, he gave RC his nickname: The GOAT!
Ping asked RV on the show what his best bike was. RV said the Procircuit bikes. RV was wearing a Yamaha shirt when he said it ie it was a honest answer.
Matt Walker impressions took me out. GL said you could tell when he was feeling good because he would wear a bandana and shades and all you could see was teeth. LOFL!
3:39:15 I've just checked it and it's called "onboard audio" and, while not perfect, it sure seems better than just hearing the buzz from the engine. Videogames have had fake engine sounds for decades, I'm sure we can make it work!
My other comment must be 'waiting review.' But, I was saying motox being a niche sport does not have the support network. They say so many drop out at 16. In hockey in Canada anyway, a peewee or 14 yr old would have a g/f or hs friends who were in hockey. But in MX, oh you race motorbikes? Hm , ya whatever.
If you believe that Brown couldn't seat of the pants feel that his bike is suddenly weaker or, that corporate sponsors wouldn't have a problem with PC building a bike that was beating their own, you're pretty naive. jmo
I love the Show and Mitch is awesome but my goodness who picks this Music?? Sorry but It's terrible I couldn't find the fast forward buttons quick enough!
Hanny's problem is he's an artsy fart. That type is usually not as competition-minded, focused and disciplined. They're also not very conscientious which is why he naturally and comfortably asks about pay right off the bat ("what's in it for me?"). Non-artsy fart types are less likely to use weed regularly since they'd almost always prefer the effects of something that enhances performance rather than retards it (e.g.: athletes on steroids, Wall Street traders on coke, etc.).
Keep this going with the old breed of moto....they have stories for days and everyone needs/wants to hear them. The new breed only have stories once they're retired because they act like mindless drones during their racing careers so keep them off until at least retired please lol
Loved this episode. would have liked to find out more about his personal life. wife, kids etc. Oh and do a little more research before you bag on the electric bikes and cars. (lithium batteries catch fire all the time?) The future is scary but change is inevitable.
I'm 41, lifelong MX fan... Thought about a whole bunch of stuff to type...but at the end of the day, just want to say... thank you Mitch.
Everyone wants to ride for Mitch. There is a reason for that. Nuff said.

Definitely picked up a wrench 🔧 cuz of Mitch . The best products ever ! Simply the man ! Thank for everything you have done in our sport. Definitely an inspiration. Glad to see GL back.
just got a 2017 yz125 about a week ago, service manual just came in the mail this evening, sitting down to read it now
How’s it going with the yz125? I’ve had my 2005 for 9 years and know them very well. Split the cases twice. Love this bike.
This guy has done so much for our sport. What an absolute legend. Thank you for everything you've done
It's Sunday morning @Rio Bravo and your new 1995 Kawasaki KX250 is on the stand with it's Pro Circuit pipe installed, what a day that was.
That's a Day You'll Never Forget!! I wish I still had my '91 KX250 I Loved that Bike! The Perimeter Framed KX's were Sick Bikes!!👍🍺
Great to hear Mitch mention Dave Chase.(RIP) He was always willing to help anyone he could. Great Guy!
Electronic PING and the Zulu Warrior, 2 of my all time favorites!
