Get Luc as far away from decision making as possibleâŠhis relationship with Brisson is part of why the organization is now stubbornly saddled with PLD at 8x8.5. As for Blake, he thinks heâs a Sakic/Yzerman level post player GM but heâs just not. Heâs too busy waxing up his board with one eye on the team and the other on the surf report. To essentially run this mediocre roster back again is bloody insanity, yet from Spicoli himself, thatâs what the fans can look forward to in October. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Absolute unacceptable level of response from those two buddies. As a loyal fan, I will no longer buy the merch, pay the price for tix, or eat the tv bill until Rob Blake gets his permanent surfing papers.

I didn't know he had a no-move trade clause that activates next year. With that being said, you can still buy out a player with a no-move trade clause. If you're suggesting you try and trade him now, you might not get much in return. Buy low - sell high, not buy high - sell low. Finally, 8.5 million does not guarantee 100 points in the NHL. When was the last time the Kings had a consistent 100+ point player? You might be able to argue 80 points but 100 is a quite a stretch.

Integrity, passion, family...all fantastic ideals and qualities. But all these years of not winning a playoff round, those qualities mean nothing if we as fans continue to spend money just to watch this team fail in the first round. It's sad that the fanbase would probably be happy just winning one round now. And to Rob's statement around progress, it's actually been a regression. Losing in 7 games 3 years ago, 6 games last year and 5 this year while ending up with less points this season vs last season. I'm not sure how anyone can see that as progress. Other teams have had the same amount of time to get better and some have passed up the Kings. Too many excuses, too many poor decisions that haven't moved this team forward. I'm a half season ticket holder, went to more games than I've gone to in years and have been a fan since the early 80s. This offseason and the changes that are made will determine how much time and money I invest in this team moving forward. Be better, do better.

Blake hasnât built an elite NHL team. Elite teams are the best 8, not 16. Elite teams hit 110 points or more. They really do well at home, and decent on the road. They win most OT and shoot out games. Goaltending is always high quality stats. Elite teams always have two potent lines 1 & 2. Lines 3 & 4 just need to be competent and consistent with league averages and not make regularly bad mistakes. Kings arenât elite because they canât achieve top points in their division or conference. So they start playoffs with no home ice advantage. Reaching the playoffs is a joke. Reaching top points in the conference means a team is likely elite status. Player scoring stats really mean a lot. The Kings had Kempe barely squeeze into he top 40, at the bottom. The elite teams have at least 2-3 scorers in the top 40. The whole world can see that PLD is a mental case problem. Something is seriously wrong upstairs with this guy. He was a marshmallow the whole season. He was loafing and out of position and lackadaisical. He likes the big paycheck, but he doesnât care to earn it. His exit interview was atrocious. He exhibited body language of being age 13 but in a manâs body. He is a quitter and a huge demoralizing drag in the clubhouse. When on camera, you donât bite your finger nails, you donât fuss with your mustache and beard, and you donât look sullen, lifeless, smug, nervous, and disinterested. This guy showed no pride nor integrity in his disastrous interview. Blake is lying through his teeth he can make PLD play better. How so? It is time for a sports shrink to figure out what is going on with this guy. Something is really wrong. Byfield by NHL standards was mediocre as a 1st line forward. Stats donât lie. 55 points isnât anything to write home about. His on ice performance was erratic and chaotic with no real hockey sense for sufficient scoring intelligence and acumen. His production isnât close to star status. His long term future with the Kings seems remote, with being jettison in a year or two. Kopi had just 3 points in 5 playoff games. Edmonton neutralized the supposed Kings best two way player. Kopi wasnât any star in the 5 games, except for the OT winner based upon more luck and Edmonton error on the play. The other important players for the Kings, Arvidsson, Fiala, and Denault, all choked with minuscule production. PLD was MIA, with one point in 5 games. That was deplorable and a terrible humiliation for him and the team. Sorry Blake and unlucky Luc, there are serious deficiencies with this team and there is zero reason there will be improvement and more reasons the team may miss the playoffs next season. Given that situation, why should you Blake keep your job? 7 years at the helm is enough to prove you misjudge talent, potentials, and waste precious cash on certain players that are non productive and have mediocre skill sets. Standing âpatâ is stupid if you are staying. You ought to swing all kinds of deals this summer as other teams want to unload their disgruntled and failed players. Toronto wants to dump good players since they choked in round one again. Take a chance, show some smarts and courage and bring in 3-4 new veterans that want out of their city or management wants to dump them. What do you have to lose anyway?

This reminds me of spending time with my father..who was very successful in his life in career and public service..yet had a very specific model for things and could wax on about that indefinitely. Very tough to have a back n forth ..it was all about a mindset he was certain was the right one. So you could have wonderful times in his presence but the plan he had for things you had to accept.

Every team in the playoffs do not have a realistic chance to win. It was obvious to everyone but Luc that Caps, Isles, Preds, Kings were not winning anything this year. It was right there? Kings won 1 game in OT and were thoroughly outplayed by every metric the whole series. Just get in the playoffs and anything can happen is such bad philosophy. That's why this management group fails.
Blake is in the last year of his contract and firing him would would mean paying him another year for doing nothing. Owners are making him earn his current rate and fulfill commitments - this is also why theres no buy out for PLD - you wanted him, you got him, you have one more year to make that work (good luck). I don't see a lot of roster moves for next season, maybe a deal for a veteran defensmen, which is what they did to win in '12 and '14 (but they better not deal Laferriere, their best player in the playoffs). passion definitely wins playoff games and the kings didn't have it most of the series. When they played with passion they dominated.

Selling off futures for nothing and playing the 1-3-1 is not passionate. It's trap hockey. Even the players hate it. No way you get past the first round when the players hate playing it as well. Maybe good to get to the playoffs but a forecheck is necessary to win in the playoffs. Doing the same thing next is year is beyond frustrating.
Blake hasnât built an elite NHL team. Elite teams are the best 8, not 16. Elite teams hit 110 points or more. They really do well at home, and decent on the road. They win most OT and shoot out games. Goaltending is always high quality stats. Elite teams always have two potent lines 1 & 2. Lines 3 & 4 just need to be competent and consistent with league averages and not make regularly bad mistakes.
Kings arenât elite because they canât achieve top points in their division or conference. So they start playoffs with no home ice advantage.
Reaching the playoffs is a joke. Reaching top points in the conference means a team is likely elite status.
Player scoring stats really mean a lot. The Kings had Kempe barely squeeze into he top 40, at the bottom. The elite teams have at least 2-3 scorers in the top 40.
The whole world can see that PLD is a mental case problem. Something is seriously wrong upstairs with this guy. He was a marshmallow the whole season. He was loafing and out of position and lackadaisical. He likes the big paycheck, but he doesnât care to earn it. His exit interview was atrocious. He exhibited body language of being age 13 but in a manâs body. He is a quitter and a huge demoralizing drag in the clubhouse. When on camera, you donât bite your finger nails, you donât fuss with your mustache and beard, and you donât look sullen, lifeless, smug, nervous, and disinterested. This guy showed no pride nor integrity in his disastrous interview. Blake is lying through his teeth he can make PLD play better. How so? It is time for a sports shrink to figure out what is going on with this guy. Something is really wrong.
Byfield by NHL standards was mediocre as a 1st line forward. Stats donât lie. 55 points isnât anything to write home about. His on ice performance was erratic and chaotic with no real hockey sense for sufficient scoring intelligence and acumen. His production isnât close to star status. His long term future with the Kings seems remote, with being jettison in a year or two.
Kopi had just 3 points in 5 playoff games. Edmonton neutralized the supposed Kings best two way player. Kopi wasnât any star in the 5 games, except for the OT winner based upon more luck and Edmonton error on the play.
The other important players for the Kings, Arvidsson, Fiala, and Denault, all choked with minuscule production. PLD was MIA, with one point in 5 games. That was deplorable and a terrible humiliation for him and the team.
Sorry Blake and unlucky Luc, there are serious deficiencies with this team and there is zero reason there will be improvement and more reasons the team may miss the playoffs next season.
Given that situation, why should you Blake keep your job? 7 years at the helm is enough to prove you misjudge talent, potentials, and waste precious cash on certain players that are non productive and have mediocre skill sets. Standing âpatâ is stupid if you are staying. You ought to swing all kinds of deals this summer as other teams want to unload their disgruntled and failed players. Toronto wants to dump good players since they choked in round one again. Take a chance, show some smarts and courage and bring in 3-4 new veterans that want out of their city or management wants to dump them. What do you have to lose anyway?

We've been hearing this same message for the last five years Enough is enough. Two steps forward and three back with this group. They talk about organizational culture which is fine, but this team has had no identity or grit since the cup years. PLD will go down as one of the worst contracts in Kings history. He has proven hes not an elite player. Blake should be fired just on this signing alone. Luc has to go with Blake. I have no confidence these guys will ever get the Kings to the SC again.

This roster has more offensive talent then defensive, we need a level of fitness to play attack style hockey . Defense is just something you have to do at certain moments, it shouldnât be the plan , thatâs playing not to loose , instead of playing to win .

This reminds me of spending time with my father..who was very successful in his life in career and public service..yet had a very specific model for things and could wax on about that indefinitely. Very tough to have a back n forth ..it was all about a mindset he was certain was the right one. So you could have wonderful times in his presence but the plan he had for things you had to accept.
Fire Blake and Buy out Dubois while they can still get out cheap.
Luc, there just isn't any way we-the long term fans-could ever hate you. But...when a GM goes into an offseason looking for a goaltender and comes home with another forward, that's where stupidity/frustration/arrogance gets challenged by the fans. Sooooooo, let's just say, ONE MORE YEAR. That's it. I must say I got my wish...the Kings winning a Stanley Cup in my lifetime. They didn't win it because of either of you. But you have both done a good job of rebuilding the team/it's dynamic/it's minor league team/opportunities. Regarding DuBois, I do remember a young goaltender who loved to sleep in, was kind of lazy at working out and barely got to L.A. He lead us to the Cup...and that came after Jonathan Bernier. So, there's always hope... But Jonathan Quick didn't start in L.A. @ $8 million dollars. If they dont buy out PLB they should fire the GM. Its only a 1.3m cap hit for a bunch of years. Come july 1st it gets worst. Use the money to buy a new player to replace PLD.
Every team in the playoffs do not have a realistic chance to win. It was obvious to everyone but Luc that Caps, Isles, Preds, Kings were not winning anything this year.

Blake is in the last year of his contract and firing him would would mean paying him another year for doing nothing. Owners are making him earn his current rate and fulfill commitments - this is also why theres no buy out for PLD - you wanted him, you got him, you have one more year to make that work (good luck). I don't see a lot of roster moves for next season, maybe a deal for a veteran defensmen, which is what they did to win in '12 and '14 (but they better not deal Laferriere, their best player in the playoffs). But without a doubt, Hiller is going away. The failure of special teams is squarely on the coach.
By not firing Blake the management is giving the ok to lose in the first round. Blake had three strikes and is out.
