- The LA Kings have named Jim Hiller as the club’s 30th head coach in franchise history, it was announced on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024 by Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake.
Hiller, 55, was originally elevated to Kings interim head coach on Feb. 2, 2024, after serving as an assistant coach over the past two seasons. Hiller made his head coaching debut on Feb. 10 against the Edmonton Oilers to become the 18th different head coach in league history to make their coaching debut with the team that originally drafted them, and the first to do so since Phil Housley (6th overall, 1982 by Buffalo).

If you want to make a difference on the Blueline and obviously Roy isn’t going to sign again, you better look into getting Zadorov from Vancouver. You guys need more size if you want to keep that checking mentality. The defense is too small imho. And you guys better find a true #1 goalie. And the 1-3-1 needs to go. The teams have finally caught on to that system. Edmonton proved that. And if you are keeping PLD, you better utilize him to his potential. Play him on the Top 2 lines with the top 4 wingers. No more of this 3rd line with the rookies.

Every year they make it harder to justify keeping season tickets. The in arena experience has declined significantly. Blake has got to go, his decisions and vision are not conducive to building a winning franchise.
Half the season the Premier restrooms didn’t even have paper towels to dry your hands. I’ve had to show my ticket just to exit the building. Staff that’s extremely rude. (LA loves hiring unmotivated blacks)
I'm a little bummed and worried about Hiller's general attitude toward a lot of the young players (doesn't seem to trust them at all, does strange things like dress 7 defensemen but give one of them 45s of ice time all game). However, I'm more than willing to give it a shot and I wish him all the best. Lets do it boys.

Without certain roster moves this team will be the same team we saw the last half of last year and in the playoffs. The downward spiral of LA Kings Hockey appears to be continuing. Insanity!!
Hiller gets a 3-year deal with a 4th year option. Blake is definitely getting extended as well or already has been already. I will say this the Kings have mastered the art of BS and not saying anything. I am ashamed to be a Kings fan, another 5 years of mediocrity or bottoming out.
How this was not a 1-year deal with a team option for year 2 is beyond me. I don't dislike Hiller per se, just want to know who he's got naked pictures of -- to deserve 3-4 years after coaching in the NHL with mediocre results for 39 games.

Roy is obviously not going to resign along with Lizzo, Ardvisson and Kaliyev, I would like to see them get Zadorov from Vancouver on the Blueline. He will provide grit, Sz which they def need.

This organization is a joke. 3 years lmfao. Why not a 1 year deal with options for a extended contract? I remember 10 years ago when it was fun being a kings fan. Now its just perpetual disappointment.
Tbf, 1 year deals show very little, I'm fine with a 3 year deal, not long term commitment, obviously this roster needs some changes but I'm really hoping Hiller moves away from the 1-3-1, it works in the regular season to get us a playoff spot but obviously come playoff time it falls apart.
